I love the idea of taking five. It’s such a nice way of saying relax. If it means five minutes, though, conversely, I find that somewhat stressful. I can’t relax in five minutes. Thankfully, Take Five is one of those places where you could while the day away. It’s small, it’s perfectly formed, and the staff are as friendly as you can get. As many have said here and elsewhere, the beverages are a little pricey. But in such a tucked away little location in Spring Gardens, aka the back end of the business district, what do you expect? Suits are happy to throw away quids for their caffeine fix. I did hear a dreadful story about a bad sausage sandwich, entirely the fault of the quality of the sausages, so I won’t hold that against the establishment. Besides, I don’t eat sausage sandwiches so I’m safe. All your usuals live here, your sarnies and your cakes, and as I say it’s a great little location which tends to avoid the shopping crowds. Definitely one for an R&R stop-off.

This place is a café I could stay in all day if I did not have better things to do with my time — I do honestly. The staff are soooo friendly and meticulous about the maintenance of their little pride and joy. The café if I am honest i very busy all of the time– this can only be taken as a further indication of how good the food really is here. The only downfall is the price of hot beverages(coffee, tea) but hey no-one is perfect– only close!

A bustling and busy café that rather than feel rushed and impersonal, thrives on an energy that makes it a fun place to sit and enjoy some time out whilst partaking in some first class people watching. Some places manage this difficult trick with relative ease, I’ve never been able to put my finger on how it’s done but places like the Kro2 beer garden and Cup on Thomas St are other examples of what I mean. Meh, why spoil the magic by questioning it? However it’s done I’m just happy to enjoy it.
