Yeah I now know why I haven’t been to Rice for so long… In fact I actually was going to give it a 1 star rating until I realised that they’re actually pretty good at one thing — and that’s creating food fast, but not good fast food! Having been to a party in town and not exactly full after the odd canapé I decided to try and grab a quick bite on Deansgate before jumping in my taxi. I was pretty shocked to see the vast majority of places such as barburrito shut on a Weds night at 10pm and went with Rice for convenience. Their Jambalaya caught my attention and I asked how long it would take — 3 minutes(with my taxi saying they’d be there in 5 mins) so this ticked the right box. They were right about the timing but God, what an awful box of awfulness! It probably doesn’t help that I consider myself the rice king by regularly cooking my trademark risottos, paellas and my own jambalaya at home but this was just a box of rice with no taste, shriveled up meat, uncooked peppers and onions — of dear! I was still hungry but decided to bin the 2nd half of my Rice box, mental note to self — don’t settle for convenience over quality again!

I went here after hearing some good reviews but was very disappointed. For one thing I struggled to hear my friend as the appliances were sooo noisy. .the soup starter was too much, so by the time I got quarter the way through it it was stone cold… I felt the chef/waiter was in a constant rush as 5 minutes into the starter he placed the main on the table. I asked him politely to come back with it… when it reappeared it was not worth the wait… over all a noisy non relaxing atmosphere with mediocre food… I dont know whether it is just this particular one or the whole Rice franchise..

I ordered vegetarian and was charged the same price as chicken. Too many noodles with not enough veg and no tofu! I feel for the prices they charge, it should be less carb-heavy, they are obviously bulking it out with cheap noodles and rice to make more profit.
