Came here for a bit of a celebration lunch with work on a Friday, which for some reason at 1pm was absolutely dead. As in, the 6 of us were literally the only ones in the place. Anyway, that was possibly the only bad thing about it. The interior is amazing– it looks quite Grecian, and definitely gives off that premium feel that it intends to. It’s actually joined with Australasia, so it keeps up with the luxe feel of its neighbouring bar/restaurant too. It’s fairly pricey– the cheapest bottle of prosecco was about £30, and the tapas style lunch menu started with small plates at approx £7 upwards. But when the food comes, you can see why. I had a mixture of Japanese/Thai style tapas plate such as fried pork and rice in batter, duck sticky buns, beef salad, and a fish curry with jasmine rice. The actual names of the dishes were much more exotic than I just reeled off, but I can’t quite remember what they were called! The duck was by far the best– it was so sweet and a lovely texture, and filling enough on its own! The beef was also delicious, to say I don’t usually opt for red meat when I eat out. Just a very nice fine dining place to eat if you want a bit of class and luxury. If you like Pan Asian style food and lots of sharing options, then you’ll love it here. Just a shame the emptiness let it down!

Same owners as Australasia. This place better if you just want drinks as lots more space and seating areas. Cocktails here are awesome. The staff know their stuff!

Hmmmm… Not the greatest way to start a review, but it does sum up how I felt about the place. it feels a very small place, though I suppose it does have the outside but still inside seems a bad use of space being the bar dominates. Friends had cocktails, they were disappointed felt they were pretty poor examples for what Manchester has in it’s cocktail offerings. I didn’t get any feeling of atmosphere from the place it just felt a bit nothing, which is a shame as walking up to it, it looks awesome. Sadly very underwow’d by the place considering how many other places that are available to go for some drinks around spinningfields

Stopped off here for a quick drink after food. They had a good selection of beers and drinks available and didn’t have to wait long to get served. A nice touch was a live sax player on our entrance into Grand Pacific although this stopped shortly after we sat down, Wish I had got there a little earlier. The outside areas was nice but very hot in the evening. They had the heaters turned up way to high for my liking… wasn’t expecting to feel clammy… sat outside… towards the end of November. I didn’t feel the Grand Pacific had a great vibe, although maybe it’s just not my scene… not that I have a scene… I’m an individual… ** Insert sheep noise here ** After reading other reviews on the place I feel like i visited a different bar… I think I’m going to have to go back again and give it another shot.

Situated in Spiningfields and part of the same company as Australasia, Grand Pacific is simply AMAZING! We had Asian high tea. This included a selection of different Sushi, exotic dishes, spring rolls and more. My favourite was the pigeon dish. Then to follow, we had a selection of cakes and to finish off we had Asian tea. This place is on my top 5 amazing eateries, I was blown away my the taste and quality and have not got a negative thing to say. Everyone must visit. There is also a vegetarian high tea option too which looked and tasted equally as good. A glass of champagne was also included. The Asian high tea was £25 per person but well worth the money. I liked it so much I’m going back next week!

Spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon here enjoying afternoon tea at one of their covered outdoor tables. I felt like I was in a colonial garden rather than outside a bar at the bottom of a tower in Manchester! The guys who have designed this place have really got the urban oasis theme right for the outdoor area. Opted for the Asian afternoon tea which is£25 zoned comes with a glass of fizz. Cleverly it is served in 2 waves– wave 1 which is a lovely selection of sushi(unfortunately we scoffed it before I thought about getting a snap but it did look impressive!) wave 2 was a selection of sweet treats in miniature(see pic) just the right size to have a little taste of everything and not feel too guilty! Serving it in 2 waves was great as it felts like you have had a proper meal rather than the constant grazing I normally do with afternoon teas! The waiter also also you as much time between waves so you don’t feel rushed. Meal was finished off with a pot of flowering tea although watch out for the wicker tea strainers they are more of an ornament than a useful tool as they do let a fair bit of leaf through! I wouldn’t recommend trying to use the side of it where the wicker is more tightly packed either as the tea tends to go all over the table as I unfortunately found out –fail! Service was efficient and attentive would visit again!

Was really impressed with my visit to Grand Pacific. To start with the place is very stylish, loved the outside area and its comfy wicker sofas and big cushions. The inside has a real colonial feel to it, with high ceilings, fans and elegant furniture. The service was excellent, the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make suggestions to suit our dietary requirements. We ordered the Asian afternoon tea which at £25 wasn’t cheap but the quality of the food and setting meant it was well worth it. The afternoon tea came with champagne and I liked the way they served it in two parts. The first part was the sushi. There was an excellent selection which included maki rolls, tuna and prawn. It also came with a mini fish cake and spring roll. After a short break we tried the second half(the cakes) which looked and tasted amazing. The cakes were very dainty and included carrot, black forest gateaux, meringue and choux buns filled with pistachio cream. The afternoon tea was finished off with a special leaf tea which came in its own little glass teapot. An exquisite afternoon tea fit for any special occasion or weekend treat.

There certainly is no shortage of places in city centre, especially around Spinningfields. Let’s face it. you have a virtual plethora of options. But we ventured to where we’ve spent a great deal of time in the past that sort of fell off our radar. It’s that little cherub from one of Manchester’s most creative Asian inspired kitchens, Grand Pacific. The baby sister of Australasia opened to much applause last year, and the city’s foodie/drinkie crowd couldn’t get enough of its large, welcoming, sun-soaked patio area. With the beautiful, un-Manchestery weather last summer, we were like moths to a flame night after night at the eatery until winter reared its chilly head. Fear not, dear readers… for Grand Pacific has gone and kitted itself out with everything required to keep you warm and toasty while you people watch on The Avenue. The lunch menu is what you would find downstairs at the mother ship restaurant. Pacific Rim inspired sushi, sashimi and a wide variety of small plates and unique main dishes. Having a bit of an appetite, we went with 4 dishes at the incredible price of £20(options include 2 dishes for £11 and 3 dishes for £15). The dishes came in two waves. The first tsunami of deliciousness; Maki Roll Selection of Tuna, Salmon and Mushroom; Temaki Seaweed Rolls with Salmon and Robata Beef; Vegetable Tempura; Onigiri Tofu and Soy. The sushi and seaweed roll were as perfect as you would expect from the Australasia team. perfect in every way. You have to love a good tempura; light, crispy, not greasy with a bit of snap still left in the veg. And we were surprised to find that of all the options on the table, the Onigiri Tofu and Soy was our favourite. Round two commenced with the delightful Collingwood Dinkies(a trio of mini meat filled pies), Sate Chicken on Noodle Salad, Seared Teriyaki Beef with Sweet Soy and the Vietnamese Pork Egg with Vegetable Noodles and Nouc Cham. We found ourselves not speaking much at this point, as our mouths were fully engaged in hoovering up the plates in front of us. Sure, there were many groans and grunts of appreciation when a new dish was tasted, but other than that there was a hush at the table. We went into the lunch agreeing that we would skip dessert since we were going large with the 4 dishes each, but as the plates were cleared, we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave just yet. Not when we had a glance at the puds menu. After much deliberation, along came a delectable little pot of light, sweet lemon crème brulee with a raspberry sorbet and a banana ice cream with caramel, a scoop of chocolate mousse and a cute little tea pot full of rich chocolate to drizzle as desired. Oh yeah. It was hard to tear ourselves away from our table, which we begrudgingly did after more than 2 hours of thoroughly enjoying the summer-esque atmosphere in the middle of a cold, damp Monday afternoon. Thumbs up, Grand Pacific.

The queen of Spinningfields, Australasia has now extended its offering with the opening of Grand Pacific; a contemporary, colonial style bar in the heart of Manchester financial capital. It can be accessed via a secluded staircase inside Austalasia, this unique cocktail bar evokes the atmosphere of a luxury Pacific beach hideaway with smart colonial style décor in cream and white, a long bar, and a secret tropical garden. With exquisite cocktails as its main focus. The menu is the same as Australasia so you can expect some mouth watering sushi and desserts here. The whole place screams class and panache from every corner. This bar is definitely very unique and reminds me a lot of classy cocktail bars in London or New York. The pricing definitely is very high end as you would imagine and you need to put on some swanky clothes to feel not so out of place here. I can vouch that the food is delicious and so are the cocktails, but that you can find in a lot of other places too so this one you need to visit purely for the ambiance and the whole experience. Verdict: Great place to visit when you want to feel special!
