My company ordered some breakfast from FreshDeli ex– New York Deli that is next door to Changos Burrito Bar in Oxford Street Manchester by the phone. The person that ordered mentioned my order as GF no butter sandwich with bacon and chicken among others. When it arrived I noticed the bread was not gluten free but he assured me it was as is how he ordered. I saved a piece of bread to take it down after trusting eating part of it and confront the 4 people that worked there if they sell sandwiches gluten free and they say no. Then I took out the bread and ask them why they sold me the sandwich as a gluten free when they do not sell. They started shouting to me really rudely and blaming the person over the phone without making themselves responsible. As I allergic to gluten I explain that is deceiving the customers selling a sandwich as gluten free but is not. Now I need to struggle with hard pains in my intestines without going for the toilet and looking like a pregnant woman for a week as consequences of their irresponsibility as a formal establishment. They did not apologies or nothing just shouting to me more the more faked tan lady and looks a like owner as they do not speak proper English defending their staff calling me «stupid girl». I am sorry but health is something you do not mess about. As they did not apologies or anything I took a banana an apple and a diet coke of the place I know is wrong but is more wrong serving customers that are allergic food that is apparently safe for them to eat and do not take responsibility treating the people wrongly. I am very disappointed that some venues do not follow the allergens diet regulations and I am sure I am not the first one that they do this to.

Sandwich bar right situated right in the middle of Oxford Road. The food is of a very high standard and all freshly prepared right in front of you which is slightly unusual for such a bustling place. There’s a good range of food on offer to fill a small hole at dinner or breakfast time. The only slight problem is because of the personal touch for each customer and the popularity you sometimes have to wait quite a while to be served. This only ever puts me off if I’m in a rush, I’m still a regular visitor when in the area!

As an American in Manchester, it’s hard for me to find quality/tasty sandwich shops up to par. This place is FANTASTIC! The New York giant is by far one of my faves.

The menu options at the New York Deli are great and I was getting really excited at the prospect of working my way through them. Sadly, the actual sandwiches aren’t quite as great or exciting. If you’ve been to an actual NYC deli, you would be expecting something crammed full of meat and cheese. These sandwiches literally don’t quite measure up. Granted, the NYC sandwiches can be a little bit wrong in how much pastrami etc they involve, but there’s probably a happy medium. That said, it tasted pretty good and it’s relatively cheap, so I probably will come back and try another couple of combos.

Situated right in the middle of Oxford road, this place is the lunch hub for all the corporate folks working around that area! This is a place where they nip down quickly with some spare change(3.50) because that is how much a meal costs here! But the chef’s here don’t fool around with the food because the jacket potatoes. sandwiches and salads here can give many ‘proper restaurants’ a run for their money! Some things you need to remember before going to New York Deli : 1. ALWAYS carry cash(Its not more than a fiver anyway) 2. Don’t expect the staff to smile and chit chat with you because they are extremely busy 3. Be prepared to wait in a queue if you go between 1 – 2 so best times are 1230 pm or right after 2! 4. Its purely a take-away so there is no place to sit there either! Like Eliot D mentioned in his review most people here come and eat while taking on their phones or walking, I have noticed a few other things too — there is a lot of inter office flirting that goes on here. So if you work around Oxford road area and are single, you know where to get lunch from! Verdict: Quick lunch, great quality and very reasonable price!

Although this sandwich shop is very small, they certainly know how to russle up a gourmet lunch time snack! As you would expect, apart from the usual modern popular sandwich fillings, you can also get a few New York based favorites. I prefer using this place if I am in the area because you always get fresh food made-up into the bread of your choice at a price that is very reasonable, and the service is very speedy!

Great litte sandwhich shop right in the middle of town. I think you would be hard pushed to find a better sanwhich shop in Deansgate. That staff here are unbelievably friendly and the sandwiches are just well– heavenly. You will find a great selection of fillings all at very reasonable prices. They do a wicked bacon butty here aswell so if you need something to warm you up during the cold winter months in Manchester get down to New York Deli.

I pass this place every day on my way into work. Every now and again I’ll treat myself in the morning to a bacon or sausage butty. What a way to start the day. On occasion I’ll also call in during my lunch hour to pick up one of their fabulous sandwiches. The staff are always really friendly and the speed of service is excellent. The food is always of a high standard and the prices are usually below that of the more expensive competition.
