It’s back! After having it’s doors closed for what seemed eternity, Kebabish has re-opened in all its meaty, food glory. There’s a growing trend of places in Rusholme creating a new niche for themselves. It’s kind of a take-away/Restaurant hybrid phenomenon. The seating area very much looks like a restaurant, but the front of house still very much resembles a take-away, and it is. Whilst I myself can’t bring myself round to seeing it as a restaurant, it’s too noisy and the prices don’t suggest it. The reality is it’s packed with people that do treat it as such. The latest Golf advert on TV(The parachute one) emphasises the idea«You get what you pay for». As a Mancunian foodie I’d strongly testify against that philosophy. Rusholme is littered with places that serve exceptional food at ordinary prices. In contrast I’ve also paid extortionate prices for below average food in the city centre. The service might not be the best at Kebabish but the food certainly is of high quality. The lamb chops, marinated in a secret spicy sauce and grilled fresh are the best I’ve tried anywhere for a long time. One of the things you might have to get used to if you haven’t been is the lack of, how shall I put this… hmmm let’s say it’s the equivalent of a Doctor having dreadful bedside manner. If you’re expecting an Americanized fake teethy«Hello there how may I help you» approach, it ain’t gonna happen. You’ll get a very serious, busy and efficient glare the kind you encounter at your driving test perhaps. None the less as I said the quality of the food will more than make up for it. Al Quds and Jaffa have their healthy competition back for my custom and that’s not a bad thing at all.

Myself and a group of friends decided to try Kebabish’s Family platter and wow! You get 2 mixed grills(which has lamb chops, seek kebabs, chicken tikka etc etc) a baby chicken, 5 nan breads and chips plus salad and sauces. If you like that gorgeous smokey flavour and tender meat, then you must try Kebabish! definately one of the best in Manchester, I wouldnt say the same about their curries but if its grilled meat your after, then this is the place to go, and ive tried many on my travels to Manchester. To acheive 5 stars they would have to stop diluting the yoghurt sauce(never figured out why retaurants do that when yogurt is so cheap! a big dollop of yogurt, rather than a pour would have been a beautiful thing: o)

Kebabish is one of the eateries on the curry mile that always grabs my attention, largely due to its name. For some reason, I find the concept of a kebab shop called Kebabish somewhat funny. I need to get a life, really. Still, Kebabish does exactly what it says on the tin. Through the window, you can see a range of kebabs of different colours, lined up, dripping with marinades, waiting to be thrown onto the huge open grill behind the counter. Just the sight of it(even knowing how unhealthy it all is) makes my mouth water. And I am not even a huge kebab fan. It makes a very nice change to see a difference between the fresh, small kebabs and the enormous, rotating donner style kebabs which, even if they are changed regularly, still make me feel suspicious as to what has gone in it. Despite that, the prices are excellent, the food is quickly prepared and piping hot, and it certainly fills a hole when you are stuck on Wilmslow Road after a night out in either the City or Fallowfield. So, when you find yourself trying not to chuckle at Kebabish as you go past — take a look behind the name, and try the food!

Kebabish? Is that a derivative product of a kebab? That’s what’s so confusing about the name of this joint because there’s nothing ‘ish’ about it. Essentially, Kebabish is one of the best takeaways in Manchester. You can get a million types of kebab. The grilled ones are done in front of you and come in a variety of flavours, from ace herbified ones to ones in other mindmelting sauces and there’s the common garden Post Beer kebab… but you’d be mental buying that. You see, away from the usual drunkgrub, you can get your hands on pakoras and bhajis and the like. There’s a bit of seating if you want to eat in and the atmosphere is always bustling. It’s cheap and rough ‘n’ ready, but it’s well worth making a mental note of where it is because, should you stumble out of the Whitworth pub after last orders, this place is a godsend.

It has a name that sounds like a five year old came up with it, and looks like the same child designed it, but Kebabish is a surprisingly good little kebab shop. They do a variety of foods, including curries, but the kebabs are really where it’s at. For next to nothing you can have one of the nicest kebab houses on the mile make you one of the nicest kebabs on the mile, something I very much appreciate. It’s not quite Caspian, but it’s pretty damn good.

It does kebabs, amazingly, but unlike the other kebab shop hordes kebabish sorts of sticks out. If it was a car it would be one of the ones that people have stuck a funky bobble to it, so when you go to find it in the car park it sticks out like a sore thumb. One thing kebabish is infamous for is special sizzler sauce, I know there’s something in it that I shouldn’t be eating but I can’t stop. Kebabish specialises in a 101 variations of the kebab and it is all very tasty. Kebabish does some curries and biryhanis if they take your fancy and you watch as it’s cooked up in front of you, followed by taking a seat in the less then comfortable garden furniture. But don’t let that drag you down, you’re not really supposed to sit.

Kababish! Subtitle: Thrill of the Grill Kebabish: Thrill of the Grill, is one of best Kebab places along the curry mile, and there are some really good ones. In fact, curry mile should be called kebab mile in my opinion. For me, the curries here are by no means the best in Manchester or, as is often claimed, in the country. There are several curry places elsewhere that blow the majority of these ones out of the water. On the other hand, for kebabs, I don’t think you can find better ones anywhere, and Kebabish is one of the best even amonst this high quality competition. Kebabish does a beautiful seek kebab, some great vegetarian options, and it all tastes really healthy(even the donner meat!). If you’re one of these fools who thinks a kebab is grim and greasy, or only for the end of a big night out, the Kebabish is a perfect place to start your kebab eating. Once you’ve had one, you’ll be coming back for more and more, and it wont have serious repercussions for your wallet. Nb: please note that the opening comments referring to the standard of curries on the curry mile do not apply to Punjab Indian, whose food deserves to be counted amongst the best curries available anywhere.

I’ll won’t exactly be hurrying but I would definitely go back to Kebabish on Hilton Street for some Turkish and vegetarian grub. You can’t really argue with good food and good prices, can you? The restaurant is halal and barbeque style, you can eat in or take away depending on your mood/the night plus there really is enough here to satisfy vegetarian friends. Great variety but the baby chicken is always a favourite and the mixed meat plate is good too.

In Manchester Cheetham Hill has not got the best reputation but if you are looking for something to eat then you should try Kababish there because the food is good. Don’t be fooled by the name the do load and loads of different type of food and its not all meat. My friend Vicky is Vegetarian and we went here with her and they had quite a good variety of food for her to eat also. For the rest of us the like meat they had a great variety of Mediterranean dishes, you could order Chicken, Lamb beef and pretty much what every you wanted. The restaurant itself does not look like mush from the outside but when inside its quite impressive looking, it has ling tables and chairs and is idea if you want to go hear for a family meal or just to catch up with friends or work colleagues. Big selling point for me was the price and the deserts menu, everyone’s a winner

Good quality clean food and fast. Don’t come here if you want to muse over your meal, this place is food in the fast lane. Meats are flame grilled in front of you and are served up at basic tables(comfort is not the emphasis here). You queue and pay up front for your food. Then the food is served at your choice of table. The prices are good, as are the staff. It is perfect for a quick bite to eat, and I love the fact that all tthe food is cooked in front of you.

Fab restaurant & take away. Have a nice lively seating area downstairs and family area upstairs, Large variety of well cooked food. Desserts are yummy too. Friendly staff whom serve food as you order. Prices are reasonable too. MUST have Chappli kebab. They cater for babies too — lots of high chairs, TV and even lollipops!
