Bloom Bar(or, as it is currently known, Hibernate) is a ‘pop up’ on the Spinningfields estate — originally appearing alongside the Long Bar during the Screenfields season, it seems to be a more permanent fixture than originally advertised. And how do we know this? I was eavesdropping and heard the front of house telling someone they’d go back to being Bloom in the summer and had the license to do so. There you have it. We headed there as curiosity got the better of me and we weren’t in the mood for many of the Friday night crowds. As it happens, this isn’t a hot spot for the usual Spinningfields crowds. Yes, there were a few dressed up parties, but the majority of the clientele were simply looking for a quiet drink. Inside, it’s very ski-chalet chic(much like the Ski Bar pop up for NYE2012⁄13) — think wood, fur, and plenty of antlers. Service was friendly, with a laid back vibe, and happy to talk through drink options with you. I started with a strawberry and gingerbread bellini, which was delicious and took me right back to Christmas. With the weather being very drizzly, I was tempted by their hot concoctions such as adult hot chocolate and warm cider, but decided against it and went for a glass of white wine. A great spot to take a crowd and while the night away. Let’s hope it survives the seasons.
