What a disappointment. Tom’s looks the part, but unfortunately there’s no substance behind the style. In fact, the whole experience reeks of complacency, surfing off the high demand for weekend brunch in Notting Hill. I opted for an Eggs Benedict. At benchmark West London brunch spot Bush Hall Dining Rooms the ham is half a centimetre thick, the eggs perfectly cooked, the muffins delightful and the price just £8. At Tom’s, the eggs are okay, but the ham is considerably thinner and like the muffin, likely straight from the nearby Tesco’s. And it costs £12. Trying to bulk out the meal, we ordered some ‘rosemary chips’, only to find they lacked any rosemary and were cold. To the credit of Tom’s, they replaced the chips with rather better ones, but still, the experience didn’t really build my confidence. The coffees meanwhile are astonishingly expensive. Sure, they look pretty, but at £3.50 they need to be the best coffees you’ve ever had. Instead, they’re average. Hopefully I’ve made myself clear. If in Notting Hill in search of brunch, avoid Tom’s and do what you need to do to get into one of the better spots, such as 202, Lucky 7 or the legendary(and so far untried by this author) Granger’s.

If you are a rah and you like bad coffee then you should come here. If you’re not then you shouldn’t.

My friend and I were looking for a place to have brunch outside(my dog was with me) and he remembered that Toms had a back garden. Food: We ordered the duck eggs & bacon, poached hens eggs, ham & cheese croquettes and the hand cut chips. We enjoyed everything, but it was a heavy menu. The hand cut chips were also too big and thick. They weren’t your traditional chips. Drinks: We both ordered bloody marys which were ok, but I wouldn’t ordered it again. Price: 57.38GBP for two people. A bit expensive in my opinion. Ambiance: It was a beautiful day weather wise and so sitting outside was the place to be. The garden was full of people enjoying brunch. Service: The service was good and friendly. Would I go back? Yes. I would like to go back for dinner, but not rushing anytime soon.

I finally went to Tom’s the other day with a friend. I’ve heard about the breakfast they offer since I moved back to London. I wish I had gone before when I was studying abroad and the preceding months. Anyways, it was a Sunday morning, and we did not have to wait for a table! It’s busy. It always seems to busy even on a weekday when I drive by on the bus. But, the service is not lacking because of it. I chose the eggs benedict, and I was no disappointed. The coffee was good as well. For a Sunday morning breakfast, it works. It’s quick. Yes, it may be more than you want to pay, but go. It’s an experience!

Looking for a Burger or an omelette? This American style diner in Notting Hill will deliver. Breakfast and Brunch are the stronger points. Small garden in back for when it’s nice…

I love it here! The food is delicious and ranges from simple poached eggs on toast, egg scrambles, to french toast, granola and fruit. If you are a fan of jams ask to try the raspberry jam it is fabulous! But it is more about the atmosphere than the food! A tiny place with only about 12 tables, but it also has a deli and a bakery section. If you go during the weekend it will be a buzz with people and a fun lively energy. Great to sit with a group of people and enjoy the rush while sipping on a latte, café americano or freshly squeezed orange juice. If you go during the week it is a more calm and peaceful atmosphere — somewhere you could sit and work or read for hours.

We stumbled into Tom’s for a late lunch and were surprised to see that there was a 45 minute wait, however, somewhat expected it given the busy area. The menu was substantial with a large breakfast selection(breakfast is served all day on the weekends). I ordered the B.L.A.T(bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) sandwich and my husband ordered the cobb salad. The sandwich was average. It was served on a roll rather than toast as in the U.S. and while I liked this change-up, I felt the bread overpowered the sandwich. His cobb salad was a bit smaller on the potion size but he did say it was tasty. I ordered a bottle of tomato juice and it was excellent. I could have drank 10 glass easily. The tomato juice+vodka would be a very good bloody mary. The space is small with only 2 tables in the garden. Was it worth the wait? Probably not. Is Tom’s worth visiting? Yes. I felt the place to be pricer than it should be, however, it is located in Notting Hill, so a little inflation is expected.

«3.5» This place is pretty solid for the west end, which generally feels lacking in terms of cafes of this class. Funny enough, the orange juice is the best thing on the menu… it is so damn good.

Used to be a fantastic brunch place on weekends but over the last few months the quality of the food and the service have been amazingly mediocre. Once my favorite dish, the eggs benedict come with a very acidic hollandaise sauce and a hard egg yolk. The last time I was there the waiters took 45 minutes to brink out coffees and drinks. I recommend to stay clear of this place and see if maybe in the fall it can turnaround.

We stumbled into Toms after seeing the sign and thinking that it was a shop for Toms shoes. Instead, we found the cute, kitschy Tom’s café off Westbourne Grove. Toms is an adorable little café with a sweet shop on the ground floor, a deli downstairs, and a diner upstairs. There is also a very small patio in the back of the diner, where we dined. We first popped down into the deli and found a few bits and salads that looked appetising. To be honest, we were a bit confused of the system in the café, as we were told the deli food downstairs was mostly for taking away than eating in. We wanted to eat in so we moved upstairs and were a little shocked at the pricey menu. However, my man was pleased to see the café offered a full English all day long. But he was a bit disappointed as he felt the meal was quite average. I ordered a selection of salads, which were tasty, but also nothing spectacular. Definitely not worth the prices, that’s for sure. I recommend maybe popping in for a coffee or a sweet to check out the lovely décor and skip on the overpriced grub.

In my view Tom’s does one of the best breakfasts you can get in London. It’s not cheap but I think it is good value for money — the quality of the food is fantastic and portions are generous. It’s a lovely place to sit(especially if you get one of the booths) and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Great looking café with nice coffee, cakes were not as good as other places I usually go to. The deli has a good stock of products and all the best things.

I really really liked this place. I came all the way over to Notting Hill/Portobello area to meet a friend who lives nearby and we went to Tom’s for an early breakfast. I got the Eggs Royale, which is what we usually call Eggs Norwegian in the States — basically an Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon instead of canadian bacon or ham or spinach. No joke, this is one of the best Eggs ANYTHING I’ve ever had. Excellent hollandaise sauce, perfectly poached eggs, lots of delicious salmon. My only gripe is that it didn’t come with sides. Since when do breakfast dishes not come with a heaping serving of hash browns or home fries? I actually didn’t need them at all and would have been overly full if they were included so maybe Tom(whoever he is) is smarter than I am when it comes to portion sizes. The latte was excellent and we sat on a cute little balcony with just our table. The backless stools were slightly uncomfortable after an hour and a half, but the garden view is lovely and outdoor seating always wins points. They’ve also got an adorable deli/shop downstairs with all kinds of cute pastries, fancy chocolates, expensive teas, smoked meats, prepared salads, and more. It’s a diverse enough selection to have British Tea, Spanish anchovies, and American Aunt Jemima, which is a bit odd but also entertaining. I got some great cheeses and smoked venison. Prices are a bit high, but I’m happy with my purchases as well as the extremely attractive guy behind the cheese counter. The inside is cute — balloons and drawings and all kinds of colorful art. Definitely worth a spot for a bit of coffee, a tasty breakfast, and maybe an eyeful of cute cheesemonger.

This kitchy diner style venue is great for brunch… portions are huge and delicious… at first glance i thought the prices were acceptable to and got a small shock when i got the bill. who knew that a couple of tiny bottles of apple juice would cost so much!

Tom’s is great brunch place, and I love the diner/deli set up. The closest thing that we have in the States(that I have seen) is a place in Ann Arbor, MI called Zingerman’s. I worked in Notting Hill for awhile after college, and, when I felt a bit homesick, I would go to Tom’s, because it reminded me of Zingerman’s. Last year I visited again, and got some stinky cheese that I can’t get in the states. You do kind of feel out of place if you aren’t a Beautiful Person, though, so, be forewarned.

I was taken to Tom’s Delicatessen by my sister, who used to work in the neighbourhood. She used to come here a lot for treats and lunches. If I visited this place a lot, I would be very well fed, but very poor! Tom’s is certainly quite pricey. I wouldn’t necessarily call it over priced, just typical of such an affluent area. It is worth visiting if you are in this part of West London. The portions are decent sized and the food is well prepared with fresh ingredients. When we came here I had a serving of wild mushroom and spinach quiche with a salad. The salad came with a serving of sweet, thick, almost gooey balsamic vinegar — it is little touches like this, rather than generic salad dressing that make me not mind spending a bit extra for my food. If the menu seems a bit expensive, you can still get the Tom experience by picking up a couple of delectable looking goodies from the deli. There is an upstairs and downstairs section, but I prefer the upstairs part. All the food is so well chosen and sourced. There is a range of chocolate bars sold which have ingredients like chili, paprika and blue berries(but not all together). Tom’s also sells freshly prepared sandwiches, and cakes that you will blow the diet for.

I like this place most for its eye-popping displays and kitschy post-WWII accents. When you first walk in you’re overwhelmed by the delights literally hanging off the walls and spilling out from every nook and cranny from every square inch of this tiny galley-way — it’s amazing what they’ve managed to stuff in here… and it’s even more amazing that they’ve managed to make it look soooo enticing. Fresh cakes, sandwiches, and tarts are interspersed with darling boxes of chocolates and other old-fashioned candy goodies — it literally looks like a bomb of gourmet fare went off and the residual shrapnel all assembled itself in the most haphazard and adorably cluttered fashion. I’m less impressed by the deli and café. I’ve only had a salads and sandwiches here, but they always seem a little overpriced, especially since they’re not tremendous. But I’ve yet to make it here for breakfast or brunch — which is where I hear they really shine. Genuinely though, I’d say come in, take a look around, buy a couple of cute sweets to indulge the sense of nostalgia this place evokes… then head down the street to 202 for your meal.

Tom’s is a really cute deli /café on in Notting Hill. The place is usually teeming with«yummy Mummies» and their kids, couples, friends and Notting Hill locals. The food here is OK. I quite like their salads but I’d say their over priced for something that taste as though I could easily make it at home. There’s an area at the back where you can sit, like a little enclosed garden which is quite sweet and nice in the summer. Tom’s is really OK, not the best that Notting Hill has to offer but if all else fails and you fancy a cold juice or a tea and cake then this is the place for you.
