I felt encouraged to order from this takeaway place after a hard day’s work — especially given the encouraging reviews of the other Unilocalers. Alas, I was disappointed in the end: I ordered the Prawn Pad Thai with the lady at the counter. This was already not such a pleasant experience — I mean I don’t expect a five-star service from an ordinary take-away place, but there was no flickr of customer-service in her attitude whatsoever… a very stern business transaction. The Pad Thai was fried up quickly and soon I was able to leave again. Yet, the next series of disappointments was just around the corner: firstly, they didn’t fit the takeaway bag with neither utensils nor napkins. Secondly, the Pad Thai didn’t taste very good at all. In fact, it tasted like it was seasoned with ketchup, which might in the end also the explain the signal-red colour of the rice noodles. Oh well… maybe I should’ve been less adventurous and listened to what the other Unilocalers had suggested: to order the sweet & sour chicken balls?

Oh Tim Tim… You have reunited me with American style sweet and sour chicken balls. You automatically get 3 stars on that alone. Add in the fact that your fried tofu makes my mouth water like woah… a carb heaven, especially on the hangover days after a bender. Super fast, super cheap, super efficient. Makes me wish I still lived nearby.

I love Tim Tim! It’s cheap and cheerful Chinese takeaway with a fairly extensive menu for how small the building is. It’s takeaway-only, but most of the places around the area are workers anyway, I live around the corner so I hop in and bring it home if I’m too lazy to cook. Their sweet & sour chicken balls are great, I can never finish a full thing of them. I think they also have a Thai section on their menu as well with noodley things. Really, you can’t go wrong if you want cheap takeout.
