The atmosphere was amazing and the ambience was nice, but my food(Eggs Florentine) was only average as the spinach was overly mushy and overwhelmed the rest of the dish. I also ordered the broccoli as a side, which was fairly flavourless. Furthermore, the service was not great, as our waiter kept missing us.

Breakfast at the Wolseley. After an early morning arrival into London I can straight here after dropping off my bags and a quick shower. I’m glad I did. The fondant hot chocolate is amazing. Hot but not too hot. Delicious dark chocolate that’s not overly sweet. The fishcakes with poached egg was very nice. The fishcakes itself was excellent. It gets lost a bit in the hollandaise and poached egg but still very good. I would recommend the small portion as that was more than sufficient.

Afternoon tea in London is customary, and the go to place is definitely The Wolseley. One tip would be to make a reservation. We went on the weekend, mid afternoon, and the place was packed. The atmosphere was bustling, and people are definitely dressed to be noticed. The service was fine, it was very formal, i prefer a bit more down home. We chose the option of a pot of tea with scones, clotted cream, and jam. That option comes to $ 11.50 pounds per person. The cream and jam were a delicious accompaniment to the scones. Overall I felt that paying over $ 25CAD was acceptable because we were tourists, but i would not make a pattern of it.

Just came for dessert. They have all the European classics. Lots of variety and not too sweet. Nice after dinner drink menu. If you find yourself in Mayfair with a sweet tooth then you have your spot. From what I can tell stays open later than everywhere close by. The seating and atmosphere is classy and inviting. Stop in.

This was a fun place to get after noon tea. We called for reservations to be on the safe side, and called earlier that day. It was def. a bit high class in terms of the staff but was told attire is casual and can we wear anything. Would be a fun time to dress up though. The finger sandwiches, crumpets, and little desserts were pretty good. Crumpets were the best part. And the best best part was the AWESOME butter. Best and creamiest butter I’ve ever had hands down. Jam was good too. The tea was very good. We expected to be charged for the second pot but were not. We ordered one afternoon tea plate thing for two, since we had a late lunch. That was more than enough for a light snack for the both of us. There are probably better deals for afternoon tea at other places. But the experience for afternoon tea is what we wanted, and I think we got it!

I came here for breakfast with some friends. The pastries are fresh and the avocado open faced sandwich was my favourite. The eggs benedict is a great choice but portions are small. Tea time will set you back £25 or so. Lots of tourists and expats(myself included)

Had a wonderful afternoon tea here with some visitors. Because I was already quite full, I went for the basic afternoon tea menu, which just included tea and scones with jam and clotted cream. Everything was fantastic. The scones were light and fluffy, and the jam and cream were amazingly fresh. The portion is pretty generous for the price, location, and the style of the restaurant, so generous I couldn’t finish my order! But a pleasant surprise was that they just gave us extra scones and instead of just putting in our leftover jam and cream into a container, they just gave us the nicest containers that were filled up with new jam and cream. The packaging, from the box to the containers to the takeaway bag, were exquisite. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate bringing others back here for a classic afternoon tea!

I wish we had stayed, in London longer, so we could have eaten here more. We only had breakfast here, but I highly recommend it. The service was good. The coffee and juice was very good; no instant coffee, like so many other London places. And, there are many fresh juice options, such as Pineapple, and Carrot & Ginger. My husband and son both loved the Haggis and Eggs. I loved that they had small(1 egg) and large(2 eggs) Eggs Benedict options. One egg is enough, for me, and I always feel so wasteful, or overly stuffed, when there are 2. The Eggs Benedict was delicious. It is a pretty place, to have a meal. There is a very relaxing atmosphere, although it is higher end.

A great atmosphere, The Wolseley didn’t disappoint. My smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were great, and I felt like I was in a London institution — which I was! Who can argue with a breakfast menu with milkshakes in the first half of it? Especially when it says«with ice cream!»(I’m not sure what else would be in it, but I appreciated the clarification). The Wolseley is fancy. It’s old. You’ll pay too much, but the food will be really good. It won’t be the absolute best brunch you’ve had in your life, but that’s ok. Know that before you go in, and respect the place for what it is. And get a milkshake. Why not.

That was quite a treat for me by a friend which was really nice. We ate so much I felt near to bursting after all the little cakes and sandwiches and so much tea on top. Everything was very tasty and tiny but very good. It was quite noisy as well which I didn’t really appreciate because I wanted to enjoy my afternoon tea without near shouting at my friend while small talk. Anyway, it was a very British experience but not comparable to the nice tea times you can have in Vienna. The café is only 2 min from Green Park Station on the Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly Line and 2 min from the bus stop Green Park Station served by the buses(N)9, 14,(N)19,(N)22,(N)38 and N97.

I went there because it’s on my list of the 50 best London restaurants but couldn’t afford a real meal so went for breakfast. I was a bit afraid they wouldn’t let me in because I wasn’t dressed nice, but it doesn’t matter. That’s what I like about those kind of places. Yes they’re posh and luxurious but everyone can go in(I saw tourists with giant backpacks). The place is really luxurious, the waiters are over polite and the choice for breakfast was amazing: Traditional british, baskets of bread, viennoiseries cooked on the premise, all the eggs you can wish for… I had avocado mash on toast and a cappuccino. I am ranking those 2nd on list. They were delicious(but lacking feta in my taste). Coffee was a bit blend, but I like really really strong coffee. Overall a good experience, just a tiny bit pricey(my breakfast cost me £17, ouch)

Touristy but fun place. From what I could see and experience, this place is best for high tea, meat, and not so much for fish. I sampled the wienerschnitzel which was fabuluous, but it was just the meat with some fries I ordered on the side. Others in my party got the lemon sole, and the chicken with bacon sandwich. Neither of those items was too impressive. By contrast, every other table in the place seemed to have a tea tray. We were not seated and had to eat in the bar, which didn’t feel too good; the host implied that only those with reservations got seats. I’ve got to be honest, this place felt a little fru-fru for my tastes. So, to be positive, if you do this place, get dressed up, make reservations, and plan to spend some pounds!

This months breakfast club(there is only 3 of us, so not sure you can really call it a club hehe) was at the Wolseley. Our brief for the club is that it needs to be opened from 7am weekdays, and needs to be easily accessible to our offices. The Wolseley is definitely not somewhere I could afford to eat dinner at, but breakfast is super affordable. It is typical old style London class, with tons of seating, and surprisingly at 7.30am it is packed out. The menu is standard breakfast menu, with lots of options. You can pretty much add any extras to your meal. I had mashed avocado on some seeded crusty pasty thing(sorry forget the name) and added 2 poached eggs. My friends had food envy when it came out. Definitely the pick of the table. My favourite part of the experience was the coffee. Most places for breakfast give you the smallest coffee cup in the world, and I always end up having 2 – 3, but here they give you and entire pot to yourself, and a huge cup. So I was in coffee heaven!!! All in all the experience was amazing, and I’d go back again in a heart beat.

Scones at top, pastries in the middle — marzipan pistachio something or rather, pear tart, lemon éclair and finger sandwiches at bottom — chicken w pesto was delicious, egg sandwich, two types of cucumber sandwich one with mint and cream cheese, the other a curried version I can do with out, the smoked salmon is so so. The afternoon blend is rather malty and a it on the bitter side for tea. Scones with clotted cream is the bomb!

Came here for lunch after seeing the guards at the buckingham palace. My friends and I found this place on Unilocal with high ratings and decided to give it a try. I was really looking forward to the experience, but ended up being quite disappointed from their food. To start off our meal, we ordered lobster bisque, it was cooked with cognacs so it doesn’t taste good at all. Maybe just not what I was expecting. I also got the large benedicts which came with two eggs and ham to share with my friends. The bread that came with it was pretty bad. Super hard to cut with our knives. We also had the pork belly, which tasted a bit weird and was really dry, I think it was cooked with pear or peach so more of a sweet taste to it. We ordered their rib eye steak(medium), but it was raw in the middle. My friends also got their earl gray tea and black/breakfast tea, both were unimpressed. The meal was pricey overall, about 32 pounds per person and really not worth that price. I’d recommend going somewhere else and avoid having your lunch here, service was extremely slow and you get charged 2 pounds per person for cover charge. Maybe you’ll have better luck trying their afternoon tea.

I left London over a week ago and all I dream about is tea and scones. I absolutely LOVE love love The Wolseley. A couple friends and I had planned for afternoon tea after doing a few touristy things and shopping on Bön Street. Since we didn’t make a reservation(the place is packed, I suggest you do), it was about a 25 minute wait for three. They asked us to wait in the bar area which was great for chatting and sipping on whatever libations until our table was ready. While small, the bar had great energy and was chill. By the time our table was ready, so was my tummy. We ordered tea for two even though there were three of us. If you ask, they will make your sandwiches vegetarian(no crust, because that’s how they do). The earl grey and darjeeling tea were both sooo good, I couldn’t decide which one I liked best. Presentation here totally makes the experience. Not only do you get three tiers of delicious noms, clotted cream and fresh jam on lovely china, but your tea comes in a silver set– completing the experience. The scones. I’m drooling just thinking of them. These scones are absolute perfection. Take one, cut it in half, pile on the clotted cream with a dab of strawberry jam, and take a small bite. I promise you will want to wolf this down, but don’t. Savor the flavor, texture, warmth, and crumb. They also don’t start making them until 3:00pm which means they are as fresh as you can get. After eating these scones, when eating others you will always seek the same perfection. Nothing compares! So now that I’ve told you about afternoon tea, I can also tell you about breakfast. The eggs benny with salmon was so delicious, I almost ordered a seconds! The English muffin it was served on was totally noteworthy. It remained fluffy even with all the hollandaise sauce smothered all over it. The hollandaise was so well flavored and balanced I’ve already recreated it at home! I very much loved the cappuccino with a touch of cocoa. I can’t even tell you how many times I came here(I mean, I can if I look at my bank statement) and each time I left satisfied and happy. This place needs to be on the top of your list when visiting London. Let’s just say I came here almost once everyday if not twice.

Came here for our anniversary dinner and was very special. The whole setting is beautiful and very smart. We didn’t get a chance to go to the bar but also looks great. The food was incredible but very easy to get large and rich portions. I had the quail eggs(wow, just wow) followed by schnitzel with creamed spinach on the side. Delicious but filling! Luckily I also had enough space for the chocolate éclair. One of their meals or drinks(I can’t remember) was also called the Lucian after Lucian Freud, who used to dine there, which was cute. Especially for my girlfriend who had read his book. Make sure you get a booking in advanced as it’s almost always packed. We had a late dinner(9:45) and was still very lively.

The first thing I noticed about this eatery is the posh interior design. Originally, it was probably constructed with the idea of becoming a café. I assume this because of the ceiling design & pillars. The greeters are most polite and our place setting was immaculate. The servers are dressed in smart attire & our original server aimed to please us. I ordered the french toast toppled with blueberries & strawberries. A side order of scrambled eggs and orange juice completed my breakfast. The food arrived in a timely fashion but it was the second server that interrupted the flow of my breakfast & positive vibes. I was interrupted in mid conversation with my guest at least 3 times from the server. It was demanding & a bit over the top behaviour. Attempting to clear our table without inquiring if we even finished our meal yet. I felt a bit rushed… Once we addressed the issue with the server, they continued to ask«Have we finished this… or that… » To be honest, our server seemed to lack basic communication & body language intellect when working in the restaurant customer service sector… a bit incompetent.

Hard to not like Wolseley. High ceilings, very old school decoration, renowned chef/owner. And you enter the place. And the environment just welcomes you. You sit and browse the menu. You want to try all. It’s that simple. But you need to settle for one. So you start to make trade-offs. And economic theory tells us that every trade-off creates a dissatisfaction for the decision we make. Apparently we keep on asking ourselves, after the decision, whether we made the right choice thereby diminishing the positive benefit to be derived. I settle for an English b-fast. It’s a big plate of everything. It turns out I didn’t make a single trade-off. The taste is good, ok. But not outstanding. Well be it… I would have easily given them a 4 star, if they had not charged me extra money for the 2 small toast on the side of the plate. My bill would have remained almost intact but the very fact to charge for a mere toast infuriates me.

Coisa fina, e cara.

Fish & Chips ist angesagt. Aber auf hohem Niveau. Die Insel hat was zu bieten. Im Wolseley wird das gemacht, was man in deutschen Küchen leider all zu vergeblich sucht. Creat your food! Nicht DU! Sondern der Koch. Und das sollte man ihn machen lassen. Kreativ sein. Man bestelle: «What’s going on». Dann bekommt man was gezaubert.
