Steak & Lobster has been on my radar for awhile. Probably because I used to walk by it every day on my way to and from work. So when Isabel kept asking me to try it out, we finally settled on a date. It’s a pretty easy concept: £20 for steak or for lobster. They have some starters too, but since the steak or lobster also included unlimited fries and salad, what’s the point? We got a few cocktails to start and all ordered lobster. The cocktails were fine. Nothing amazing, but nice. The lobster was okay. A bit overcooked. One claw was perfect, the other overdone. They don’t serve butter on the side(annoying), but you can ask for it. They do give you a selection of mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard on the table so you have a nice selection to dip your fries into. We ordered several extra orders of fries and some salad. Because unlimited. The fries were probably the best part. So that was disappointing. I don’t think I’d come back for Lobster, but we did discuss coming back for the steak…

Steak & Lobster really confused me to begin with. I’ve seen the marketing material, and the gimmick behind S&L — you pay £20, and you get either a steak, or a lobster(so shouldn’t it be called«Steak or Lobster»?) and all the fries and salad you can manage. But that’s not where my confusion was. It was when I arrived in a classy looking restaurant, looking polished with ample space, high ceilings, stylish décor and the kind of place you really wouldn’t expect pushing a £20 gimmicky meal. And then, I was further surprised when the food came out, and it turns out it was actually pretty good quality stuff. Maybe I’d set my bar low and was expecting this to be a complete disaster of a meal, but actually, this was actually a really nice evening out. The staff were attentive, regularly checking in on us and we enjoyed a laugh with our waiter. The well stocked bar made pretty good cocktails and the desserts were a lovely finish to the night. Just goes to show: You can’t judge a restaurant by its gimmicks.

Steak or Lobster — it’s as simple as that. This Steak & Lobster restaurant on Warren St was something i was looking forward to very much in the weeks leading up to my trip to London to stay with a friend. He had heard good things about it from some work colleagues so we booked a table in advance and went along with high expectations. This restaurant is huge, and we were really one of the only couples in the place, so there wasn’t really any need for us to book, and the emptiness of the place made the experience rather formal and less like the chaotic(but so much fun) Burger & Lobster that we tried a few months later. The waiter explained that there’s no menu — you order either a 10oz Rib Eye Steak or a Whole Lobster, which you can have grilled or steamed. Both are served with unlimited fries and side salad. I’m very indecisive, so i ordered the Lobster and forced my friend Tom to order the steak. We decided to go half and half, so when the food arrived i happily gave up half my lobster for half — or maybe a little bit more than half ;) — of his steak. Both were cooked spot on. The steak was smothered in garlic butter which went amazing with the fries. The Lobster is very messy — you need to really dig into it with your hands to get to the succulent meat. All this for just £20 each! Fab. Overall, this place was great. And now that there’s a Steak & Lobster in Manchester(situated inside the Raddisson Hotel just off Peter St) i’ll definitely be back for more.

The lobster was average, but the steak was good. We had a reservation, so we were served fast. I’ll go again for the steak. And you get unlimited fries:)

The food is the only saving grace for this place. The service was disastrous, and I don’t have super high service standards. First, it took forever for someone to come and seeing we had a child asked if we needed a high chair… 10 – 15 minutes pass and I had to ask her again for the high chair. Took our drinks order right away but the drinks didn’t come until our FOOD came and THEN they forgot my son’s milk until AFTER we were done. Oh and they were out of Guinness on a Friday night. My steak was quite good, so I won’t fault them for that but their lobster I heard was decent but not amazing. The desserts looked like they had made them in advance and then put them in the freezer, so the whipped cream was frozen when we got them. It seemed very disorganized and it wasn’t even full, which was puzzling to me.

Very cool and waaay larger than it appears. Food is good(and so it should be considering they only have two things on the menu. Staff all seem very new and rather inexperienced.

You have two choices for a main dish – steak or lobster. Or maybe you want steak AND lobster, I don’t judge. You also get unlimited fries and salad with your main choice and have the option of choosing a number of appetizers and drinks. You’d think they’d be able to do these two things well, but the 10-ounce ribeye steak I got was seriously underwhelming. I ordered and my steak came out within 5 minutes. FIVEMINUTES. It was cooked the way I wanted it(medium), but I could tell it had already been cooked once before because it wasn’t that hot and there were literally no juices. FROM A RIBEYE that’s like a bazillion-percent fat. Don’t get me wrong, the steak’s flavor was good, and it wasn’t dry or anything but I’ve had better. If it was fresh, I would’ve liked it. As it is, they don’t get 1 star because my server was fantastic.
