Tried a couple of times to get delivery from Hoxton branch through Deliveroo. Orders were cancelled without explanation. Deliveroo says Sodo chooses whether or not to bother filling orders depending on whether they need the business that night or not. A business clearly run for their own benefit rather than the cusromer’s.

I thought I had tried all of the best pizza in London, but this summer I was corrected. Sodo Pizza came to my attention when a running group did a really cool event with them and made my facebook feed and I thought it would be worth checking out as I have always been interested in sourdough pizza. We made our way up to Clapton to check it out and found a very cool setting which had a great range of beer including Beavertown which is one of my favourite breweries based in Tottenham Hale. I managed to chat to the owner about them and he explained how he knew them from when they started out so it was nice to hear from someone who cares about good beer and that made me excited for the pizza. I had the cured meat pizza that was very generous with the toppings which was also great quality. I fell in love with the place and have since managed to make another visit just to make sure it wasn’t a one off but it didn’t disappoint. They have a small menu that would cater for all tastes and I can’t wait to make my next trip there.

Sodo Pizza pretty much has it all: great pizza, great beer, an eclectic selection of whisky, and it’s all about supporting local. I’ve tried a fair share of pizza in London(and in life) and this is one of my top choices now for pizza. I love New York– and Napoli-style pizzas, but the sourdough base(from E5 Bakehouse — woohoo!) makes Sodo pizzas special. The sourdough adds a lovely kick to every bite, the sauce is fresh, and the toppings are generous. I had the margherita pizza, though I was hugely tempted by their butternut squash pizza, and hubs had the pizza with the cured meat. Both of us loved our orders! The portions are fairly big, so if you have a small appetite, you might want to share or be prepared to take some home with you! As if serving delicious pizzas weren’t good enough(which, most of the time it is), Sodo also serves some of the coolest beers brewed in Londontown — Beavertown and Kernel, two of my favourite breweries in the city! We ordered the Beavertown Gamma Ray IPAs and even had a nice chat with our waiter about the brewery. The IPAs are perfect with pizza, but you can’t really go wrong with any of the beers available because the selection is all good. Experiment, go wild! These guys seem to have carefully curated their menus to amaze taste buds. They do serve their pizzas from the George and Vulture in Hoxton, but I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, so ooph. Looks like I’ll be making more trips up to Clapton!

The pizzas are lovely with a light sourdough base and a tangy tomato sauce along with the toppings. Service is generally good but it is small and so can be difficult to walk in for a table on busy days.

Sourdough pizza crust is a fine, fine thing. And Sodo with its exposed brick walls and thick, wooden tables very nicely lit by candle light, is a treat to sit in and enjoy a meal. We popped in on a Friday night, sans reservation, and, although the cosy resto was mostly full, were sat straight away. The service was prompt and friendly. My dining partners ordered each a pizza margarita and I a goat cheese and rocket pie. The only quibble would have been that one of us had a slightly burnt crust that then went uneaten. The chilli oil provided pepped up my good yet mild tasting pizza choice. There were two interesting-sounding pizza specials(names now escape me) that had sold out by the time we arrived, unfortunately. Local brews on the menu, Kernel among, them, are to be had, and, for the non-drinker, lovely house-made ginger ale. The ‘pizzaiolo’ came out at one point during our stay and checked in with his tables, asking if all were all right. It was a nice touch, indeed. The next trip over to LDN will include a return visit to Sodo!

Best pizza I’ve ever had, had the Lorena(butternut squash, rosemary, pine nuts) minus cheese but plus fresh basil, olives and sundried tomatoes, didn’t want it to end! Good service, good beer too, can’t fault anything about the place.

I was in town visiting my sister when we decided to grab a bite. I’m not a big pizza person, but this place surprised the hell out of me. We ducked in because it looked nice, but this place was beautiful and delicious! First of all, the staff was so welcoming and warm, and they brought over some of their home made ginger ale(which btw, is better than any bottled crap you can get from the store). We ordered the Lorena and Sunny Goat pizzas, and they were so unique and amazing. The combination of butternut squash and feta on the Lorena was delicious, and the Sunny Goat(which we initially ordered because of its adorable name) was rich in flavor with the sun dried tomatoes and tangy goats cheese. Overall, a delicious dining experience, the décor was simple and lovely, and the staff was very attentive. 5 stars!
