Beyond doubt my favourite café in shoreditch. Excellent smooth espresso, lovely friendly vibe and amazing food — especially the ham and cheese toasties with the softest bread you’ll ever have and the make your own salads. And the homemade soups. Basically it’s just all great!!!

Slate Coffee is absolutely delicious! I had a single origin drip coffee which the barista freshly made using a clever dripper – so good! We also ordered organic English muffins with smoked salmon and avocado. The muffin was so good and hearty, and the salmon and avocado were fresh and flavorful. We’re planning to come back to try a few other items on the menu.

I popped into Slate after a hot recommendation from Colleen C and Jenny L and have to say it was a good one! Ok so when I got there I was looking forward to a sit down but seeing as there were already about 8 people in there it seemed a bit cramped… so I got a flat white to go and thought I’d make the most of a sunny day in Shoreditch. The inside is pretty bohemian and so were the staff, the girl who charged me was sitting on the side like she was a customer and everyone who worked there seemed very loved up and cosy — good vibes man, man! Pretty damn good coffee at the usual prices, looks like they have some tasty snacks too so I’ll have to pay a repeat visit when I’m next in town.

This quirky, unassuming coffee shop was recommended to us by some London Unilocalers so we had high expectations and slate certainly didn’t let us down. It’s in the heart of hipster Shoreditch so I kind of presumed it would be a little ‘different’ but it wasn’t and I mean that in the best possible way. The shop itself is tiny, as soon as you walk in the door you’re practically at the counter. The staff give the impression that nothing you request is too much hassle — one of the girls working took our order while perched on a counter in true laid back style. The coffee itself was ace — I ordered a flat white and it had just the right amount of bitterness without losing it’s kick. Slate’s quirky, casual style is topped off by it’s jokey signs scrawled on slates(obviously). One said, ‘Money can’t buy you love but it can buy you cake’ This sort of sums the place up — I was definitely a fan.

The first thing I was expecting in Shoreditch was an indie Coffeeshop on every corner; the last thing I was expecting was a really friendly one in Hipster Centrale. Great product and service, and a really cute space. You can tell the level of love, care and attention the team have put in and it shines through. Add it to your list!

Love this place! I was on my way to Brick Lane when I was drawn into this cute little café by the blackboard outside advertising matcha is back. As a key matcha fan, I couldn’t resist going in and checking this place out. It’s a cute little café, with seating for around 10 people. Their coffee menu is extensive with inventive options such as matcha latte, chai latte and coconut milk as an additional extra. Their juice menu is equally as good, with green detox options as well as a coffee based smoothie. I opted for two coffees during my stay — a matcha latte, of course and releasing I could have a free coffee with the app, I thought I’d try almond milk and so went for an almond milk flat white. Have to say, having never tried soy milk before, I was a little dubious, but it really started to grow on me, after the first taste, and in the end, I could have happily drank another. The food options were great, with specials changing on a daily basis. Was debating for a while whether to get brunch, as the veggie options looked amazing and combined my love of halloumi and avocado. Decided to go for the red velvet cake in the end and boy was I glad I did, it was amazing. The cream cheese frosting melted in your mouth. Highly recommend. Have to say this is one of best cafes I’ve been to in the Hoxton/Shoreditch area in a long time. The staff are super friendly and their products are tasty and reasonably priced. If you’re in the area, be sure to check it out.

I got a free coffee with my first check-in here so we’re already off to a good start! Ordered the avocado toast for breakfast here and was pleasantly surprised. Not sure what bread they used for it, but it was toasted with a little butter to add that savory component to it. It came with a lime wedge to squeeze on top, giving it a fresh and clean taste. Staff was nice and friendly.

This place is great. If only for the fact that they serve English muffins, which I was sure I would see a lot of 5 years ago when I first moved here — I never thought I would miss the taste, but oh, it was great to have again! I happened along Slate during breakfast hours and dropped in to grab a salmon, cream cheese, and avocado english muffin. It was delicious alongside their fresh fruit juices. I pretty much wanted to eat everything listed on the menu as well as all the baked goods placed on the counter to tempt. Amazing addition to the neighbourhood — I can’t wait to go back and hope(despite a non-imposing positioning on Curtain Road) that Slate is here to stay!

Quick and friendly service, big range of drinks and some decent sweet and savory bites. The perfect regular caffeine refueling spot. And they’re always open.

This is my breakfast place. Whatever you are looking for a grab-n-go thing or a longer one, that’s the place wherr you want to go in the morning. Teas, infusions, coffee, chocolate, everything is good! Try the matcha, you won’t be disappointed! And then, well look at your left, cakes and biscuits and muffins and tarts and stuff! And they all have a great taste(better than how they look, they are really handmade!!) During lunch time, stop by for a sandwich or a soup: you’ll love it!!! Definitely obe of THE places where you have to go in east london during the day!

A bacon cheese melt, salt and vinegar crisps, tomato bisque soup with sourdough bread(for my mum), sparkling water and a double chocolate cookie: £11.40. A deal! My mum also gives it her 5 stars as well. The guys were on top of things today, the place was buzzing, and despite the fact that there really isn’t a comfortable seat in the house, no one cares because everything tastes fantastic.

Slate is the latest addition to the burgeoning consumables scene on Curtain Road in Shoreditch. It is owned and run by Zoey who is doing a great job, instantly becoming an anchor on the block. Coffee is sublime, served with style. Her pastries are brought in but top notch. Lunch time food is evolving but includes fabulous concoctions on artisanal bread. It’s just about everything you’d expect and want from a local Shoreditch café, beats and all. Shame on you people across the road at Eat and Pret. Support your independent business people! Late licensing coming soon too.
