This is a great place for proper fish-shop chips: no frozen skinny fries here! The chips are consistently good, and prices are reasonable. There’s a full range of fish, chicken, spring rolls etc too; onion vinegar is available as well as regular. The staff are really friendly. If you need more to persuade you, the fact Paul MacCartney has been a customer may just tip the balance…

This fish and chips is really good! Too bad I can’t get what’s the opening time. I live next to it and I have the impression you just have to be lucky to find it open… but when it is, the haddock with chips is delicious!

Just on the main road in New Cross, towards the train station, you’ll find this little chippie. I’m a big fan of fish and chips and apparently according to the sign on the door this one was endorsed by an impromptu visit by Sir Paul McCartney some time ago. Whilst not a patch on the final product Fishy Business the staff at this little establishment are very friendly and tended to my insatiable need to eat baked bean with my meal — they were all out but cooked me the can I bought from the shop next door in a moment of flavoursome self indulgence. I won’t go into the unwholesome pleasures I derive from eating fish, chips, baked beans and dare I say it ketchup in tandem — it’s wrong but good. So the batter and the chips aren’t quite as well observed as they could be, but the staff get ten out of ten for their willingness to aid me in polluting my meal. Thumbs up!

This is maybe one of the best fish and chip shops around! Its also not too expensive, so if you’re a student living in new cross, this is the place to go to get your chips, fishcakes, haddock and mushy peas! Recommended.
