Now closed down, sadly. Apparently that wasn’t long enough to update my previous review so I’ll tell you that it’s been replaced by a steakhouse which I haven’t been in yet but someone drove into it with a car not that long ago. Is that enough?

I find a lot of restaurants in the UK cannot get noodles right. For the price RRC do some nice little dishes and their noodles are firm and flavoursome. Also 10% off for regular customers. Nice.

Having had a few drinks on friday and feeling a little worse for wear, normally i opt to get some a takeaway, and being a thai food fan and living in highgate i hadn’t managed to find a half decent thai takeaway… Until now! My Flat mate order a takeaway yesterday upon which i helped myself to everything :) the food was really nice, it tasted very fresh, very little straight-out-the-bag feeling with a nice emphasis on unique well blended flavours with mild spice for some of the dishes ordered.

To say that one particular restaurant has«the best Pad Thai in London» could get me smacked or at least shouted down, as this the most basic of Thai dishes(and the easiest to get wrong). Not to mention, I could eat at 3 Thai restaurants in London every day for a year and not get around to them all … but I will say that this restaurant serves up a really excellent bowl of Pad Thai. Tons of peanuts, lots of leaves and shoots and good herbs, and the prawn version(which is what my friend ordered) contained fat, meaty, fresh prawns and a lot of them. I ordered the beef Jungle Curry, billed as «very spicy» and was it ever! I’m a fan of heat and this did not disappoint. There was one more dish, Gang Kauw, billed as «extremely spicy» and now that I know what RRC Thai considers spicy, I’d have to order that one with another dish and switch back and forth. As it was, the Jungle Curry was flavourful with big chunks of ginger root tempering the peppers. It was a really nice dish, but only if you can handle the heat. Our third companion’s chicken Green Curry was lovely, if a bit sweet. I enjoy coconut milk and therefore thought it was great, though your taste buds may vary. The RRC Special starter tray contained a big variety of traditional Thai starters like fish cakes, satay and spring rolls, all well prepared — the tempura veggies, in particular were quite fresh with just the right crunch and lightness to the batter. A platter for two was enough food for three people, but you can order a tray big enough for as many people as you have in your party. There is also a really great aloe juice drink(non-alcoholic) that’s light, delicious and really healthy, surprise! I would vary between 3 and 4 stars, ultimately giving it 4 in terms of good value for your money. The prices are extremely reasonable for what turned out to be very nice, authentic Thai food. The décor is a little strange, especially the Disney-themed bathroom, but the cook in the kitchen is a native of southern Thailand and boy does she know her stuff. They deliver within a 2-mile radius.

This place is kinda weird and the food is really bland. If that’s your bag you’ll love it.

This is another one of my next-door restaurants, which I rely upon when I come home and the fridge is blatantly empty… I then pick up the phone and my mood is right away been elevated by the friendly voice with the sweet Thai accent on the other end of the line: «RRC Thai Café, how can I help you?» The food choice is relatively standard, but I can only highly recommend their Curries; try out the Gang Mutsaman if you like to pleasantly surprise your taste buds! Like I said, most of the time we order take away and they are amazingly fast — 10 minutes mostly, and maybe 20 minutes during busy weekend evenings; you get a 10% discount if you collect your order. That’s all…
