Hmmmm. I wanted to say I liked the place, and I kind of do but… Asian fusion. Those nightmare words I dread. I mean, what is it trying to be? I never a fan of these type of fusion places and though the food was ok/good it didn’t set me wild with delight. I often feel fusion means watered down version ma of the original. Less spicy, or less authentic. I see where they are going but when I last went the food was just ok. It didn’t make me think wow I have got to come back.

Service was very friendly, but it was a busy night and the waiters were working under severe pressure(and a bit of abuse) from management, which led to a lot of confusion and disorder. We had about five dishes delivered to our table at different times, none of which we ordered. The food was nothing special and there are many local joints that are much better, even on that same street. The ribs were okay. We wanted the sushi mix, but they were out of two of the four kinds that come in the mix, so we agreed to have two of each of the remaining kinds. The main course was the Beef Randang, which was satisfactory. The place is small and as noisy as a crowded bar. On the other hand, and to be fair, they do a pretty decent caipirinha. Overall, we were not impressed and have no plans of going again.

I’ve eaten here a few times and never had a bad meal. The Beef Rendang is amazing and bound to give all those around you mega food envy! I’ve also tried the Thai Green Curry which is delicious. Portions sizes are also good. The only downside is the delivery service they offer. I’ve ordered it once and it was no where near as good as going to the restaurant itself. The food just didn’t seem to travel well. Apart from that, would thoroughly recommend Tootoomoo as a great place to eat in Crouch End.

I really loved this takeaway. I’d definitely go to the proper restaurant ow I’ve tried their food. It’s one of the healthiest take always I’ve had, the prawn sambal was tasty with huge prawns and really fresh veg, the beef rendang dish had huge chunks of super soft beef and gorgeous sweet potato. Watermelon duck was outstanding. As with all delivery food, the crispy things are never quite crispy enough but the flavour of the smoked chicken stander was lovely. Highly recommended, will eat here again.

lack lustre. I’m giving it 3 stars because the staff were great and really made an effort, but the food was dull. we went for their signature dishes but even they were not«wow»! the salted squid was so thin it was basically a battered crisp(nice dipping sauce tho), and the duck rolls were just duck rolls. not unique, Tootoomoo, duck rolls with a secret ingredient or special recipe. they were duck rolls of a good size but I could have eaten the same in any restaurant in China Town. we had cocktails — lychee Bellinis. they were good. I should have had another. instead I went for the safe option(you can’t go too crazy over the Christmas period I thought): a passionfruit mocktail. I don’t know what happened to the passionfruit purée but there was definitely a whole lot of orange juice going on, and a bit of grenadine to make it reddish-pink and swishy at the bottom. And so, to the maincourses. I went for the Thai Beef salad. ho, hum. again, not very special. I think it needed a bit more Thai … like some lemon grass perhaps. it had a good amount of thinly slivered mango in it, and a fair helping of rare beef. there were cucumber hexagons. they were good. but it needed lime, and chilli and something like fish sauce… oh, I don’t know! I’m not a chef but it didn’t turn out to be what it said it was. it had a dribbly, red dressing that had definitely been puréed. it just wasn’t the right consistency for a salad dressing. Hubster had Salmon in Japanese glaze. he enjoyed it. Yay! I just could face any more food after that so no pud this time. I might try the Highgate branch in a few months time.

My go to takeaway everytime! Loved everything we’ve ordered from here, from the curries, to sides of hoisin duck spring rolls and great cold salads + so easy to order online!

I like how different Tootoomoo is to the other restaurants in Crouch End — it really makes a refreshing change. I recommend that you give it a go! The prices are fine and the food is fresh and delicious.

Great place for a weekday lunch– meal deals make the above average food excellent. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere and a really nice dining experience. Only loses points for being a little too expensive for what you get without meal deals! A solid four stars for weekday lunches– probably a 3 for anything else!

I’ve been itching to visit Tootoomoo since moving back to Crouch End. It’s a restaurant, take out and small Asian food shop all rolled in to one. I didn’t actually order a full on meal here. but what I did eat was pretty tasty: some great spicy tuna sushi, and frozen yoghurt with a lovely array of summer fruits. The fro yo is highly recommended, although a bit melty when it arrived, but who cares when it tasted so good. Can’t wait to go back, and eat more.

I love living in Crouch End because there is such a variety of restaurants. Totomoo is another great option if you want to differ from the norm of pub grub. I ordered take away and everything still was tasty and very fresh. The vegetable tempura starter was a nice surprise. Everything was crispy and served with a tangy sauce that complimented quite well. I also had the chicken ramen which was not my favorite. The beef dish was much better, served with fresh vegetables and a spicy sweet sauce. YUM! Check this place out sometime if you haven’t yet.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Tootoomoo in Crouch End. This location has gad its fair share of failed business ventures in the past few years, but what the guys at Tootoomoo are doing seems to be pointing in the right direction — most of it, but I’ll come to my point of critique later. Like I said, I’d been waiting for this place to open for a while, especially since I was following them on Facebook and every time they posted some pictures of yummy food, my mouth started to water… And finally, today I went and here’s my story: I went inside and I was right away greeted by what I recognised to be the owner/manager of this place. As I was starring a little lost at the menu, he came over and helped me make a choice. I went for the Beef Rendang, a dish I’ve had at a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown a while ago. He suggested to eat it with some rice and although I didn’t expect they would have it, I inquired about brown rice. Wow… they offer brown rice! While I was waiting, I took various pictures of the interior, which you can see from the photos, is really nicely done: there’s a painting in the back of the store, which depicts the Tootoomoo story; the grocery-store like entrance, where you can buy all sorts of Asian products; as well as the open kitchen, where you can have a peak at the chefs at work. Then my food arrived… and I couldn’t help but being disappointed by the size of my dish. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not expecting American-size portions, but this simply didn’t fill me up. The brown rice, that came and was charged separately, was quite a lot, but with the dish not containing much sauce, I actually only needed a couple spoons of it. Taste-wise, the Beef Rendang was good, but I left the restaurant still being hungry. Plus, I had paid about £12 for it all and to be frank, I would’ve expected that money to fill me up — especially during lunch time. Overall, I really like the concept of this store, which is why I give them 4 stars(actually it’s more like 3.5 stars), but the portion-size didn’t meet my expectations at all.
