my review is a little mixed but i will say from the top, i will go back again. was staying nearby and got a hankerin fer sum meat! saw a decently rated steak place so i gave it a try. the décor is great, very intimate, i sat at the bar as i was by myself. the steak was great, although a little bit more well done than i wanted, but that can be chalked up to terminology. they did screw up with missing a starter that i ordered, but they bent over backwards to ensure i was happy. what i really need to talk about was the bartender… i cant recall his name, i think he is italian although i am not sure… the way this guy mixed drinks was awesome. i wanted a dirty martini… it takes 20 seconds to make right? not for this guy… he treated it with the care and reverence a chemist puts into a possible cancer cure. every move was theatrical and deliberate. in all honesty, the flourishes and steps he had reminded me of Rowan Atkinsons character in Love Actually. i will go back for the food, but will sit at the bar just to watch him make the drinks!

I should have been tipped off by the fact that we got a same day reservation for Saturday night at 8pm. So many things went wrong during this dinner that it stopped being annoying and became pretty hilarious! The food itself was OK, but no wow factor which is what you would hope for this price/location. The service was pretty bad — not necessarily because the staff was rude but because they had no clue what they were doing. We had no less than 6 waiters, who clearly didn’t speak to each other because they brought us the wrong dishes twice, before realizing they had never actually put our order through to the kitchen. We ended up waiting another hour for our mains. Tried ordering drinks multiple times with several different people, but they only came about 30 minutes later. However, when we got the bill they had charged us for multiple rounds when we only had one. Four different dished we ordered were unavailable. The manager even came to sit by our table and was complaining about how bad the service was, and how the waiters couldnt seem to get the new menu right. I think Rextail needs to step their game up if they want to compete in Mayfair — there are far better and more consistent restaurants in the area. This place is not worth the price tag.

Great place in many ways Food was fantastic and so was the service but it was also a very cozy place so I can highly recommend this place, in particular if you like steaks

Russian kitsch meets steakhouse in a long underground opulent room masked as ‘faux-casual’ restaurant at the heart of Mayfair. The tuna tartare with pomegranate was generous and fresh. Great steaks, served on wooden boards. The meats cuts are top quality and they will be brought to your table before being cooked. The chocolate fondant was a standard plate size equivalent — absolutely enormous and heavenly! No cheap cocoa used here. Followed by the signature Napoleon, a mille feuille which is about 10 inches high, covered in custard and chantilly cream. A must try.
