We had a beautiful meal with innovative, lovely courses. Nice lunch menu as well and good for a business meeting. The general feel of the restaurant is charming, trendy, and lively but not too loud. Overall a great experience.

Tried with friends for dinning, 8 course tasting menu. The food was very nicely presented and the taste is good. But not great as the taste is too strong and the it doesn’t give the wow factors since the tastes of some dishes are too strong and completely covered the other dishes flavour. The foam is not something I like in particular… It always gives a bad feeling by looking at it… The wine list was ok, tried one white and one red… Just ok. But the overall service and quality of the food are good. Not highly recommended, but you could give a go.

A great place to go with friends as well as for special occasions. The best thing about The Square is that the place is perfect for all occasions. The chef have a personalised menu with his signature along with a small box of truffles for my husband since it was his birthday. For starters I had the Dorset crab linguine with champagne foam, this is one of their signature dishes and the best too. For mains I went with deer which was perfect. The best for me was the cheese selection. For cheese lovers please ding the usual desserts and go for this, the selection is great and you will never regret it.

I would happily recommend this to you. «Bijou» ambience and really great service. It was«modern» formal without being stiff. We opted for the tasting menu for £120pp which had nine courses. There is another three course option for £90. We found a good rose for £35 and there are many wines below £60−70. The courses were playful enough without going overboard. The lasagne of Dorset crab with cappucino of shellfish and champagne foam was really very well done. It can be very hard to do this type of dish well — balancing all the fishy and salty flavors. The monkfish was good too, although they could have added more of a twist to it — perhaps some zing(but then again the restaurant is French). The duck was formal and well done, but a bit rare for my personal taste. Instead of the usual dependence on foei gras(so common in French restaurants), they could experiment a bit more. But these are just my musings — frankly there was nothing I could find fault with. The restaurant and chef deserve their Michelin stars. Very enjoyable restaurant.

I had the 7 course tasting menu which was absolutely fantastic. Every dish was elegant and full of flavour, especially the foie gras and lasagna with champagne foam. I would definitely visit again.

All the dishes we had with the tasting menu were excellent, but just missing a certain je né sais quoi. I would describe this as modern classic, not quite as modernist as some places, but not stodgy classic either. Wine pairings were adequate. Some interesting wines, but pairing-wise, not all optimal. Friendly professional service and a warm space. The full tasting menu is a lot of food, to warn you as others have.

Holy sweet Jesus, this place is good! It’s definitely a special destination because the price didn’t pull any punches but it’s definitely worth it. We got the tasting menu, something like 9 courses and every one was marvellous. We were absolutely stuffed at the end of it since the courses were a bit bigger than you might imagine so arriving after a 2 day hunger strike is a good idea. The service was superb, friendly and professional. They weren’t overbearing but if you had an inkling of of a desire someone was at your table in 2 seconds. The atmosphere was a bit boring, I suppose but not in a bad way. You could call it tasteful and simple, if you were in a good mood. Nothing to complain about really.

This was one of those visits where the only sensible option was the tasting menu — to choose from the carte was proving far too difficult. Though this did free up some time to enjoy the delightful assortment of amuse-bouches and appreciate the vibrant canvasses that adorn the dining room. The starters began with a fine warm salad of artichoke, salsify and pear, before moving on to a sweet, buttery sauté of Scottish langoustine with parmesan gnocchi and a potato and truffle emulsion. A lasagne of Dorset crab followed, comprising delicate pasta, a healthy portion of crab and a foam of shellfish and champagne that delivered flavour way beyond the frilliness that its name implies. Foie gras with orange was sublime. Two mains of impeccably cooked cod and a short rib of beef which was the edible equivalent of big, warm hug, were thoroughly satisfying. The finishing stretch began with truffled brie, leading to a blood orange dessert which was impeccable in both taste and presentation; with just the right balance of sweet and bitter orange and a good combination of textures on the plate. The finale was a voluptuous banana soufflé, into which a shimmering quenelle of stout ice cream was lowered and allowed to melt. The long, deep and rich flavours were a perfect lingering goodbye. Perhaps my only complaint was a slip-up in service which saw my partner’s plate arrive garnished in walnut, to which she has an allergy. As this allergy had been made very clear to the staff it was a little disappointing, but rectified immediately. Overall, while the atmosphere may have been a little flat, my experience of The Square was anything but. This was a truly excellent and perfectly balanced tasting menu, and one which I would be delighted to return to again and again.

The food is not bad, a bit salty, usage of truffle was a bit repetitive in the tasting menu, fish was slightly overcooked. A bit overrated for a Michelin 2 star restaurant. Service was good.

Wow. I was fortunate to visit this superb restaurant today for lunch. I really cannot do any of the three courses justice by trying to describe them in a review — you need to put your hand in your pocket and experience this — one of the finest restaurants I have eaten in –anywhere in the world. Service matched the food — understated and excellent.

The hostess was very attentive and kind. When I asked to be switched to sit by the window, she immediately accommodated me. I had to try the signature dish which was delightful as I am a big lobster and crab fan. It was in between a super thin parsley lasagna dough covered in a lobster ganache in a lobster sauce and champagne foam. Main course was seasonal Yorkshire Grouse cooked between rare and medium rare with elderberry sauce, cooked radish, parsnip purée, smoked caramel

We came here for a special anniversary dinner and it didn’t disappoint. We had the nine course tasting menu with matching wines. There were some excellent courses which we lingered over and others which were just good. I enjoyed the first course which was a salad of cooked and raw spring vegetables which had a cute crisp quail egg. This was fresh and the cooked vegetables were not overdone, which is easy to do. My favourite course was the lasagne of dorset crab with a cappuccino of shellfish and champagne foam. It tasted delicious and the textures were perfect. Luckily I still had a portion of bread which I used to mop up the remainder of the sauce. The Buchanan’s Foxwhelp was a nice surprise. A posh cheese and crackers. Of the two dessert courses, my favourite was the passionfruit and lime soufflé. Then again, I have an obsession with a good soufflé at the moment. I think all good restaurants do this, but I loved the theatre of the waiter digging the spoon of icecream into the top of the soufflé and seeing it start to melt. I really savoured this one. The turbot course was a bit so-so, but I am not usually a fan of this fish because it tastes a bit bland to me.
I am happy with our decision to go with the matching wines because this removed the stress of choosing a bottle from their huge wine bible. We had eight wines in total and the sommelier gave a nice introduction to each one. My favourite was the last one, a sweet wine, which we had with our souffles. The service was excellent, as you would expect from a two Michelin star restaurant. They remembered it was our anniversary and congratulated us, which was a nice touch. They also gave us a copy of our menu, signed by the chef, as a keepsake. The bill came to something in the £400s, which felt on the high side.

I never understand why this restaurant gets such great reviews… And holds 2 Michelin star… It is everything you would expect from fine dinning but they always get a fee things wrong — the service staffs are nice but not that well trained so it is not flawless., service can be slow and it certainly does not have that extra mile in service that surprise you… Food is okay — it is good but never amazing…, I remember my soufflé was like half cake/half soufflé… You can not make such hard soufflé and call it soufflé… And it was very big for tasting menu. I reckoned it was so hard so operations reason as it is much harder to sink if soufflé is so stiff… Overall, I would not go back but I would encourage you to try yourself as apparently many like it.

Over oily foie gras, mis-set placements for myself and my companion(set them for pigeon and me for steak when it was in fact the other way around), completely forgettable main course(yes, I had pigeon), thoroughly AMAZING service(bar the mix up with the table setting), and half decent wine. The deserts and inter-course-bite food was actually the best thing that went into my mouth here. To say the place is apparently the 7th best restaurant in the UK, and has 2 michelin stars I was severely unimpressed by everything except the service — and particularly the sommelier who was nothing short of god-like in his knowledge of vino — and as such I’d not recommend to anyone. Preposterously average meal for 2, £575. And we probably spent a lot less than everyone else there that evening.

Great lunch spot, at a phenomenal price for a michelin 2 star Stopped in for lunch to have their 40GBP set lunch menu. Terrific food, prepared to the same standards as the dinner and feels like daylight robbery considering that a dinner tasting menu exceeds 120GBP. Service was impeccable. Wine list was a bit terrifying: it’s almost 100 pages, with incredible selection and depth. Fortunately it was paired with a fantastic sommelier who suggested a great bottle. Setting is very nice: mix between modern minimalist and traditional. In a such a high end area, it fits right in. Definitely recommend!

First things first, I was here last year and had the rabbit, which is now ruined for me. Because after you’ve eaten at The Square, whatever type of meat/seafood you ate there will forever make you a snob. That’s right, I can not eat rabbit anywhere else now, because they rocked my world. The restaurant atmosphere is sophisticated and very formal. There’s a dress code in place, and eating was a little stiff. This isn’t the type of place that would welcome walk-ins. The starter bread was delicious, as they come around with a selection for you to chose. The appetizers were delightful and beautifully arranged, and light enough that you wouldn’t worry about filling up fast. Then you have your main course. This place is michelin rated for a reason. The balance of flavors was wonderful, they give you just enough to satisfy, but not enough to gorge yourself on. And then the dessert was a light touching after. Perfectly balanced. Go, dress up, eat, and enjoy. You don’t eat a meal like this every day, it’s something to be savored and really a pleasure to have dined here. Also, even though I’m not big on wine. The list was superb.

Modern French cooking, what more can you ask for? While The Ledbury is slightly experimental, Phil Howard has kept his food simple with classic combinations. The dining room is a bit uninviting and stiff with modern décor — very formal setting and diners were generally business people and very well-dressed locals(the restaurant is right off Old Bond Street after all). Warm selection of bread, yum. Always a plus. The amuse bouche of pea soup with cod croquette was very refreshing. The starter of warm spring chicken salad is a classic but expertly prepared. The chicken was very moist, and not at all overcooked. Mains were fillet of brill with scallops, and a 2nd dish of fillet/raviolo of oxtail/slices of ox tongue. The fish was so so so good — crispy skin and it just flaked perfectly. The meat dish was amazing — medium rare steak, really juicy and the other meats were very flavourful. The vegetable accompaniment soaked up the sauces from the dish and balanced it out perfectly. For dessert, we went for chocolate fondant and the lemon tart with lime ice-cream. The lemon tart was very refreshing(a perfect end to a heavy meal). But the chocolate fondant… so rich, but so satisfying. They even pour chocolate sauce on top of the fondant — complete indulgence. Excellent French-inspired cuisine with great use of seasonal ingredients. Definitely not the place to go if you’re looking for innovative combinations or strange pairings! Nonetheless, one of my favourites in London for brilliant food.

A dining experience at The Square is worthy of the 2 Michelin stars it has held for over 10 years. Located in the heart of Mayfair, the restaurant has a sober yet modern décor that does not over bear. We tried the 9 course tasting menu. My recollection of the 9 dishes is as follows(apologies for the varying descriptions of each, I forget one or two): 1. Smoked Venison Carpaccio with Wild Mushrooms. Simply exquisite. A small portion with elegant presentation within a ceramic egg(think a small white Fabrege). Suttle yet poignant. 2. King Crab Lasagna. A wonderful foam and a subtle taste of fresh made pasta, with a tasty chunk of crab. 3. Crayfish with a truffle and celeriac base. 4. Salted Fois Gras with mango reduction, a berry chutney and quince sauce. Nice salt sweet combination. 5. Cod 6. Grouse 7. English Cheeses 8. Cheesecake with Lime Sorbet 9. Banana Soufflé with Rum/Rasin Ice Cream The bottom line, a WONDERFUL dining experience. Do not be fooled by the initial portions of the 1st two dishes. Unless you are a professional rugby player you will be satisfied by the end. Presentation is simple yet elegant. The staff is attentive, well trained, and friendly. Pricy, sure, but all fine dining is. For

A feast for all the senses! Brilliant wine list(or book should i say) and very helpful sommelier. This is the perfect place to come for a real treat. My boyfriend and i don’t go to places like this very often(very expensive) but this place doesnt make you feel uncomfortable or out of your depth. It has a friendly atmosphere and as long as you don’t turn up in trainers and torn jeans they are very relaxed. Needless to say that every course we had(all 8 of them) masterfully balanced perfect flavours with complimenting textures and beautiful colours. A very special place.
