A very fine place to stop and eat if you’re in a hurry and hungry. Nothing great but did the job. We ordered and American Pizza and a Margherita Pizza. Also a Pollo Pesto and a La Reine. All were okay. I’d go back again.

Excellent food and service! Closest thing to American style pizza I have found in England!

We went as a large group to this branch and whilst I’m normally quite satisfied with Pizza Express, this branch really let the team down. We were put into a mould infested room which had the faint smell of cigarette smoke, which is not very appetizing. We ordered all our food within 5mins of sitting down and said we would have to be gone in 45mins. It took 50mins for our main pizzas to come out with no excuse or apology despite members having to leave to go to meetings. Then to pay up(they of course added service charge) they took forever to bring the card machine over and it was just a faff. Perhaps service is better upstairs. The pizza was a-ok but not outstanding!

With a good experience at the Bury Pizza Express Branch, I decided to visit the branch just opposite Baker Street and like with the Liverpool One experiance, I left angry, upset and disappointed. I started off with the Risotto, although the rice was nice the Salmon was far too overcooked and that made the whole dish taste terrible and not to the normal quality of Pizza Express. As a Main Course, I had a American Pizza, the Pizza Base tasted awful, I know it is Gluten Free but the base was really chewy and horrible. The toppings was not a fair portion in my opinion, either. After 2 bad meals I left hungry and upset, I do understand it was very busy but that is no excuse for that quality of food. If you want Pizza around Baker Street, just go to Ask Itallian at Number 197, it is much better and has Pasta, Rissoto and other itallian dishes!

I really wanted to like you Pizza Express! You get an extra star for nice table settings for a pizza place. You lost three stars because after not eating ALLDAY and being super hungry at night, I ordered 1) the super food salad and 2) the spinach and egg pizza with my sister. Both of us got VERY sick from the food that night. While my sister had eaten during the day and there were other things in her stomach, I had not, so I know that it was pizza express that hurt me, as does she. Again, the service was okay, although a bit slow and forgetful at times, but anyplace that does something wrong in the kitchen that causes food poisoning does not cut it for me.

Ordered take away with friends for a pizza/movie Sunday night. 4 pizzas, two orders of garlic bread and two salads were ordered for the 5 of us. Total= £35, £7/person which is reasonable. However do not expect top notch Italian pizzas, flavory garlic bread and veggie filled salads. Everything is pretty blend. The service is pretty fast and the portion sizes correct although the salads were tiny tiny and as a veggie lover I definitely need more salad with my pizza. In a nutshell: ok if you run out of ideas and are in extreme need of pizza

Disclaimer: NY native pizza snob here. Erm, I really don’t understand why several of my local friends seem to like this place. The takeout is fast and the service acceptable, I’ll give you that. Salads are tasty though not out of this world. But I find the pizzas very lackluster. The crust is tasteless, the tomato sauce not that fresh tasting. The toppings are often pretty interesting, but with tasteless crust and bleh tomato sauce, there’s not much ability to redeem the pizzas. Same for the garlic bread, which seems to be the same tasteless flour mixture with just a bit of garlic thrown in. Not that moist, heavenly, absolutely-horrible-for-me wonder that I consider to be garlic bread. For what you’re getting, the price seems a bit high to me, at least for takeout. All-in-all…I’ll go there occasionally if everything else is closed already or I’m ordering for a group while watching a movie, but I’m definitely still searching for better pizza in the area and wouldn’t recommend it to a visitor.

Tried another branch this time, in the West End, ordered the American Hot, Romana style, and a side of garlic bread. EXCELLENT. Almost a year apart and a different location, and just as spot on. The quality control is there, my friends. Tasty tasty pizza goodness, hot and fresh and perfectly balanced. DELICIOUSNESS. Yum.

It was ok– I had a business meeting here for lunch today. Service was quite slow, but the food was on par with what pizza express should be. it has an outdoor courtyard which you can eat in(it was too cold today but thought that might be useful for others to know).

Visited here last week with workmates before we went to a gig and on arrival it was busy but took us about ten minutes and two servers to get a table — the first server went to find a table but must’ve got lost looking as the manager then came to help us! The pizza was fantastic as usual, however on asking our waiter for some tap water we found on attempting to drink it that it was boiling hot! One of my friends also had trouble with her salad order as everything she’d asked for had not been listed to so had to repeat the request and wait for ages whilst we’d all received our pizzas. Still must try harder — come on P. Ex!

Pizza Express is one of those chains that you see all over London. I went there, because it is really close to uni and if you get one of their deals it’s actually pretty cheap. The pizzas are pretty decent, if you’re a veggie though they don’t have that many options, but otherwise I would consider going again. Not my favorite, but if I’m in the area and don’t know where else to go I would check it out. The service is not the best though… my friend orders pasta with a sauce and they served her just the sauce, forgetting the pasta(??), and didn’t even apologize or offer her a free drink or anything, which I think is pretty weak. But I have been to 2 other locations and generally the staff is alright.

A lovely looking PizzaExpress with two floors and outside seating as well. This branch is probably one of the better ones, and always busy! I was here last night with a group of 10, service was prompt and friendly at the start, though we did have to wait some time between starter and main which was unusual. We shared a lot of dough balls between us. The dough balls were about half the size they usually are, but still tasty with dripping garlic butter. And the pizzas were very good as well, though almost all were presented on the black chopping boards usually reserved for the rectangular Calabrese, which did make for a bit of difficult eating with the pizzas half hanging off the board. However, the pizzas were topped generously and tasted fantastic. Despite the gap in the middle of the meal, I’m always very happy with this PizzaExpress and have been here numerous times, and they’re always happy to have large groups descend on them with very little notice!

What they served in the name of pizza was worse than the worst pizza I’ve ever had. It was very quick though… and the waiter was friendly.

Pizza Express was worlds better than I expected. For a chain restaurant with Grecian kitsch décor and«express» in the name, it was quite a good pizza joint. The«express» is actually not appropriate, as the atmosphere and service at Pizza Express were more geared towards relaxed meals in good company. When we showed up on a Sunday evening, the place was at capacity and it was a couple minutes before we were seated. Service was actually on the slow side, but we had a great waitress, a sweet, friendly matron who made us feel very welcome. The food was very solid. Pizza Express seems like the UK’s version of California Pizza Kitchen, and like that chain, it serves up affordable, family-friendly food that isn’t insulting to an adult palate. Matt B. and I shared an order of garlic bread, and this was my least favorite item of the night. It was heavy and smothered in grease, yet weak on the garlic. I wouldn’t get that again, but it went uphill from there. For my pizza, I decided to be healthy and order off the light menu. I got the pizza gustosa, which was said to be around 500 calories. All of the«leggera» pizzas are described as pizzas with the center dough replaced with salad. This is exactly what I got — a pizza with a hole in the middle filled with lightly dressed greens. It was filling and very good. The pizza portion of the gustosa came topped with prosciutto cotto ham, light mozzarella, portobello mushroom, yellow peppers, and thyme. My only complaint is that the outer ring of pizza should have been cut like a regular pizza, as it was hard to saw through with a regular knife. Otherwise, the crust was decent, the toppings lovely, and the greens in the middle were not only healthy but went beautifully with the pizza, adding a vinegar tang to each bite. Matt got the Margherita with just mozzarella and tomato, and it was also pretty good. We ordered dessert, too, because I was tempted by the sotto zero leggera. I know that no dessert is healthier than a light dessert, but this was worth plenty of calories. It was a sundae of low fat frozen yogurt with black currants in syrup and a chocolate straw. The yogurt was tangy, the currant sauce tart, and the whole thing was refreshing and delicious with just enough sweetness. Matt got the caffè gelato, a small dessert that came with a cup of coffee and a scoop of coffee gelato. The gelato was great, reminiscent of the milky flavor of Haagen-Dazs with a lighter texture. The coffee was nice as well, and I liked the concept of the dessert. Overall I would say that Pizza Express is one of the better chain restaurants I’ve seen anywhere. I suppose since chains are London’s bread and butter, it makes sense that there would be some good ones. Matt and I ate out every day on our trip to Europe, and Pizza Express was one of our better meals.

Under staffed, noisy — hard to hear across the table. Slow to be seated and very slow to get meals. But… cheap: It was 4.40 gbp per person with 50% off via Taste London Card.

My entire experience here was pretty annoying. I had to call out an employee just to get seated after standing around for a while. Then, that person was my waiter. Even after constant eye contact, I had to wave him down to order a drink. He brought me the wrong drink, even after asking what I wanted several times. Third time I had to flag him down to take my order. Not that I didn’t enjoy sitting there as he chased around teenagers for no good reason. The food, well, you’ve probably been to another Pizza Express, it tastes the same. It is good enough to eat, but nothing to write home about. Although I did enjoy my lemonade, which I hadn’t had there before! The fourth time I had to flag down my server to get a check. By now, I felt like I could have guided in a fighter jet landing on an air craft carrier in stormy weather and the runway lights not working. This was how good I was getting at flagging down people to do their job. Worse part is, after all of this, as he was swiping my credit card, he asked me about my BlackBerry, which I adore, and expressed his interest in getting either a Storm like mine or a Bold. Being the BlackBerry expert I am, I advised him to get the Storm, cause he wants the games, apps and cool factor. Having enjoyed our brief chat and warm feeling I get when I talk about BlackBerry, I gave him a two quid tip. Yeah, I know. If he was a she and attractive, I may have just proposed. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case!

You know what you are going to get when you go to Pizza Express — good value pizza(thin and crispy) washed down with either a glass of wine or a Peroni beer(they do huge bottles). They have extended the menu recently(I like the risotto balls). Came here last a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday lunchtime, we were the only people here when we arrived. It’s a big restaurant with high ceilings, the staff were very friendly and attentive and even made us bloody mary’s at our request even though they didn’t have them on the menu. I really think this is one of the chains that all visitors to London should know about — as there are many other chains that are only visited by tourists and should not be!

I was reluctant to go here because of the name Pizza Express, I just assumed all they served was pizza, which of course I am allergic too. Finally I took a look at the menu and Pizza Express is so much more than pizza it is all kinds of Italian food, really they should change the name, but with 128 branches just in London well I would say it is a pretty successful chain restaurant. Their website has allergy and substitute information, which is great for me and others with allergies. They have a noise salad, pastas, antipasto, roman pizza with a thinner crust, classic pizza, and you can design your own pizza. Its a good place to take a group because everybody can find something they can eat.

great chain — the usual food and nice atmosphere! really nice to sit outside in summer, downstairs is a bit cold in winter
