Had an excellent, inexpensive lunch here. The ordering area is tiny & a bit chaotic, and definitely has a ‘local’ vibe. Extra seating downstairs if you want to sit & eat– just order and head downstairs– they will run your food down to you shortly after. We each had one of the pressed sandwiches– very tasty and filling! They also have a case full of pasta dishes(baked ziti, etc.), cutlets, soups, salads, etc. Definitely recommend for good, quick, cheap eats.

I’m pretty sure every cabbie in London eats here, so you know it’s good. Their salt beef is super tasty and lean. Their baguette sandwiches are to die for. Soups are insanely delish. Make sure you know what you want and don’t make too many weird substitutions or requests — the staff will probably be annoyed, but your fellow patrons will be furious with you for sounding like an ass. It’s loud in there and can be confusing with who’s next in line, but the food is so worth it. The location is small and it is busy throughout the entire day. Open later than most take-out places. Far cheaper and way tastier than your hotel room service food. One note — they will microwave the hell out of your food in Styrofoam, so if you DON’T want them to do that, just ask. That’s the one thing I don’t care about sounding like an idiot for. Great selection of beverages and crisps. Their pastries are yummy.

Piccolo bar is a great place to go if you’re on the run. Excellent variety of drinks and sandwiches to take away. They even have a little but of seating out front so you can catch a break and relax for a moment. Friendly quick service! Can’t be beat!

Lovely little café, tucked in Mayfair. Their breakfast options are amazing and that’s why I like spending my mornings here. The staff is friendly and attends me properly and swiftly.

As a traveler on a budget I was grateful to find this place for breakfast. Latte was good. The scone was half muffin, half scone; or perhaps the muffins had a scone-like top. English breakfast menu was basic but good and cheap. 2 eggs, sausage, beans and mushrooms for £4.80. It’s where I plan to start my mornings when staying nearby.

Big selection of beautiful looking, bland tasting food served up by surly staff who don’t know english or the meaning of good service.

If you wanted to find out where the locals go, you’ve found it here. By locals, i’m talking taxi drivers, construction workers, and other blue collar guys. This was recommended to us by a bank teller and she basically said that you can get a good, big breakfast for cheap. She was right. 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, toast with coffee for 4 pounds. Food was ok/good and there’s additional seating downstairs. overall, good value and it was great after our red eye flight before we went back to our room to pass out.

Heaping helpings of comfort food. Stuff that sticks to your ribs at rockbottom prices. Spaghetti Bolognese, melts, chilli, muffins, samosas, sandwhiches of every description and a self-service salad bar(although given the spread of H1N1 it might be more of a bacterial bar). A favourite haunt of cabbies and construction workers. Brisk, efficient service. Eat-in if you like at the elbow-room-only, precipice counter, or downstairs. How are you darling? Want a nice cuppa, love? Peachy.

Fantastic lttle restaurant/takeaway right in the heart of Mayfair tucked down a little back street. This place is mainly used by cabbies. The food is fresh and there is a various range to choose from. Eating in is downstairs which is a bit claustrophobic but when you taste the food you will forget this. Prices are extremely reasonable considering the location. There is no wheelchair/pushchair access to the restaurant.
