It’s the best Thai restaurant ever! I ordered too many thing eg; lamb shank, morning glory, steamed sea bass, spicy wok-fried lamb, tuna tartare, and I had two desserts mango sticky rice and crêpe. It’s unbelievable that they all were delicious. The stuffs were friendly and confident. Our table served by a young girl and young guy. They know the food well as I asked many questions about gluten and nuts allergy. I’ll definitely come back here again. I wanna try Other curry dishes

For a Thai family on a long vacation abroad, we were very delighted to find real Thai food at Patara when we arrived London. We went there twice, with the 2nd one to entertain a British friend. Musaman curry, fried duck with tamarind sauce, steamed fish with lime and chillies, fried fresh morning glory… all were very good. Geen curry was somewhat too mild for Thais. Service is very good.

I would recommend this place for those looking for some decent thai food in Knightsbridge. The décor inside is cozy. The staff is friendly and the food comes out pretty quick. I had the Panaeng Nong Gae: lamb shank in a red coconut curry sauce with brown rice. It hit the spot. I give it 3 starts because not everything the table ordered was as good. We had the chicken in green curry and a carpaccio of tuna. The tuna’s presentation was nice, looked«fine», but it didnt taste fresh and the flavors didn’t harmonize. If you know what to order, you can’t go wrong. But since it was the first time we went, we experimented with different dishes and found the lamb shank in red curry as the winner.

I will start by saying that I was in London for work – and went there to eat alone. As a middle aged woman, I was(and have been other places) shocked at how they first seated me in a nice spot and then asked me to move to a corner – which was hot. So, not excited about this fact. But, I didn’t have a reservation so I was trying to be amenable. So, they lost a bit of a tip because even though many restaurants-this one included – already add in 12.5% gratuity — I usually leave about 6 – 10 percent more if the service is great. Main thing is that the food was great — really tastyl – the starter I had tofu satay – it was not like any satay I have ever had. First of all, it was not deep fried – which more like baked tofu – with a nice seaweed wrap and the peanut sauce was delicious as was the sweet rose sauce. It was great-very healthy –not filling so I had room for the main course. I had green curry – YUMMY. Vegetables were fabulous. The rice(brown) was divine – it was a medley of rices – very impressive – perfectly cooked. My champagne cocktail was a great beginning – with a lotus flower and cassis — just wonderful. Great wine selection too.

One of the best Thai restaurants in London in my opinion. I love going here for lunch as they do an excellent ‘Business lunch’ where you get a huge platter of fantastic dishes for a bargain £15.95. Well worth a visit!

I have been to all Patara locations in London but decided to give this one a review because it seemed to have lower review and in my opinion is actually the best. I first came to this Patara location in 1999 when it was their only one in London and there was not a soy latte to be found in London. The food at Patara is fantastic as are their drinks. The quality is consistent at all locations though I feel service is best here. Despite the fact that I am a 5’3″ blonde American chick, they take my request for«Thai hot» seriously. Patara, I heart you — come to San Francisco!!!

Found this place when looking for a quick bite to eat after a long day of shopping. We arrived fairly early 6:45pm for a light dinner and were able to be accomodated by the staff despite the fact of the restaurant being fully booked. We were kindly asked if we would be able to finish by 8:30pm. Of course! Great food and atmosphere — ordered one appetizer, one main dish and one side for two people and we were able to leave fully satisfied and full. Dishes — steamed dumpling sampler(beautiful presentation, good flavor), Chicken, shitake mushrooms, and ginger dish(very very good, one of our favorites), prawn pad thai(good amount of prawns in the dish and came in a very cute little bowl with chopstick holders). We came casual, while others came a little bit more dressy. No coat is required, but you would want to be a littel bit more dressy to feel extremely comfortable with the others in the restaurant. Paid about 35 pounds. Would recommend — reservation is highly recommended. We got lucky on this one!

Advertised as «fine Thai cuisine» on their menu. I’ll admit they have a unique twist on presentation, but I’m not sure that I would prefer this to many of regular«mom and pop» style Thai I’ve had in the states. We ordered the crab/shrimp spring rolls. Very small portion. 3 smallish things that could be described as rolls plus two«pouches». Tasty, nice presentation, but hardly a decent sized appetizer portion. For our main plate we ordered a shrimp curry and the prawn pad thai. The curry coconut base was flavorful. A unique flavor actually. Broth thicker rather than thinner. But it consisted of two elements: prawns and a green collard-like vegetable that seemed undercooked and tough. I asked what the vegetable was and it wasn’t collards but a Thai«green» of sorts. The pad thai was ok. Just OK. I probably wouldn’t order it again. It had three large halves of prawns with shells and feet on. It was difficult to eat as the meat was rather stuck to the shells. The pad thai was sweet, but didn’t have depth of flavor that I’m used to. It didn’t have any of the usual garnishes that I am used to save for the fried egg pieces. A bit of a disappointment. I also ordered a bit of brown rice with it — nice that they had this. For dessert we’d ordered the sticky rice with mango, but when they came to take our order they informed us that they were out of it. Would have been nice to know that before we hemmed and hawed over the dessert menu for an extended time. We ended up with a lemongrass(coconut?) tart with vanilla ice cream. I didn’t care for this dessert but my partner thought it was fabulous when you ate it WITH the ice cream. Without it he said that the tart was unsweet and bland. What threw me was that the tart had corn kernels in it. OK. Corn is sweet… but the dessert didn’t benefit from the corn. It’s something that should be mentioned in the menu details to warn customers. Or the waitstaff should let customers know. I just found it a bit distasteful to find corn in my tart and to not know if it was purposeful or whether someone accidentally spilled rice into the custard mixture. The atmosphere is nice and modern/upbeat, but seating is cramped, which makes it loud in the front room. I could barely hear my date and was instead forced to hear the tales of the lives of the party of six seated directly to my left. A fairly good meal. Not spectacular enough to keep me from looking for other Thai on my short trip here.

I was very disappointed, primarily because I like the Soho location so much. First, food is mediocre, not horrid, bur really nothing special. Second, the room is tiny and cramped. Third, service is very indifferent at best. Quite interesting, since each of those would be just the reverse of what I’d say about the Soho location. There are definitely better options.

a very solid Thai meal, but loved that i could go unconventional with jasmine brown rice. a small place, so would think that booking a table on the weekend is a must. also loved my individual tea pot at the end of the meal. will definitely go back!

The food is just as good as any other Pataras, ;casual’ is the only word I could think of to describe the fact that we had to cram in the tiny tiny doorway for five minutes just to wait for our table that was already reserved and ready. Really, for prices exactly the same as the Patara on Maddox street I’d expect to have some space between myself and the people from the tables near by. Also my waitress only seems to acknowledge her customers if you’re white. Oooh they serve Greneagles water, beauuuuutiful bottle, but the water tastes crap and you don’t get to keep the bottle anyways.

Patara in Geneva gets 10 stars. This London location wasn’t as over the top as Geneva but still wonderful. No white table cloths, more casual. i think their soups can kick any ailment you might have. Yum.

One of the best thai places I have been to in London. A bit pricey from £25. Staff is friendly, the pad thai and the mango salad are both brilliant. Good winelist. Close to Tottenham court road.
