I had spicy lamb £9.85 and rice £2.25 but the lamb was not really spicy even though it’s a 2-chili course. The taste is average, something I can cook at home easily. Service is good. I prefer busabah Eathai for Thai food, cheaper and more tasty.

Thai Square is located next to the South Kensington Tube station and the V&A. The restaurant is small and intimate and has tables on three separate floors. I have eaten here by myself and with friends for both lunch and dinner on several occasions over the past three years. The service has always been fast and attentive. Prior to this visit, I felt the food was good at a reasonable price. On the last two visits something has changed… I just don’t feel the ‘Wow-Factor’ anymore. Just okay-not good-definitely not great. I worked in Thailand for several years, I can take the heat of Thai peppers and spicy food. The Som Tum(papaya salad), however, was so hot this evening that I couldn’t eat the salad because my tongue was on fire. Even the presentation of my dishes was lackluster which is not characteristic of Thai cuisine. The restaurant claims to hold two«Best Restaurant of the Year» awards in 2012 and 2014. Like I said, something has changed.

What a rip-off this place is. The food is mediocre at best and definitely overpriced for what you get. There are plenty of better choices all around this place; I wish I had picked one of them instead. Definitely avoid.

Food was pretty good, not exceptional but good. Service was fast. I had the green curry which was much more spicy than expected, but not bad. Don’t bother ordering the coconut rice, it’s basically just the same as steamed rice with a few shavings of coconut on top.

Came here on a Saturday when Chelsea plays Manchester United so they had a set plate with 2 courses. Food quality is not bad. The set plate was 14.95 pumps which is expensive for American standards. There are two reasons for 3 stars: only Singha beer offered and the main dish portion is very small.

Good inexpensive Thai food. Quick friendly service. Perfect venue if visiting the Victoria and Albert and Natural History Museum.

Exquisite. Intimate little restaurant on two levels, only a few yards from South Kensington tube. Popped in here late at night and asked if they were still serving — they were. I had the Tom Kha Kai — chicken and coconut milk soup with exotic looking mushrooms — followed by green curry over steamed rice. I’ve written elsewhere that my yardstick for Thai restaurants is its green curry — and this was exquisite — the best I’ve had in London. Fast efficient service. Superb food, nicely displayed. All this and a drink for under 20 quid. I’m going to eat here more often.

The one thing you have to remember about going to this place is that it is Thai-Fusion. If you are looking for a straight Thai experience, then this isn’t it. Otherwise, food is fine. Staff is okay. We made the mistake of showing up without a reservation, but the staff was still able to seat us as long as we didn’t stay longer than 90 minutes. Wine list is nice. I had my first Thai red wine here. Probably won’t go back, but you should try it at least once.

I’m not one for chain branded restaurants, but for Thai Square I always make an exception. Great service every time I go(and I have been to quite a few of them all over London), fantastic food and they also do a special student discount for students from the University of London with a ‘StudentEAT’ card. I would recommend the Pae Nang red curry and also the pad thai. The fishcakes are also great! It’s not too much of a tourist place and it only serves Thai food. As a rule, I never dine in those places that do more than one type of food as I think the authenticity can be risky!

I stopped here for lunch and their special(8.95 on weekdays). It was a good deal – spring roll, corn cake(both quite small), soup, veggies, rice, and green curry chicken. The flavors of everything were excellent. The green curry chicken was HOT even though they said medium spicy when I asked. They need to serve towels because I was sweating like crazy. The people at the table next to me were fanning themselves. The spiciness is addictive and I enjoyed every second, but boy, it was really spicy. Service was extremely attentive and efficient. I was thinking of getting ice cream but passed because I concluded that too was probably spicy. I cannot even imagine the heat level of what they call hot. I am definitely returning.

I don’t understand how people have provided good rating for this restaurant, we had 3 different dishes all very mediocre, no spices and a very strange odour. If you like real Thai food don’t go there!

Exactly that — A Ok. It’s average thai food at ok prices. Coming from NYC, where I can get average anywhere at £7, London average prices and taste are hard to swallow but one learns to adjust. I was very pleased with my Panang Curry. The pad thai was ok. Calamari starter good. Seating was tight and service a bit brisk but I didn’t expect anything more. This location can be mobbed with a wait — especially during peak dinner times with the proximity to the museums. Try to see if you can get a reservation through OpenTable or by calling or else go off-peak. A-Ok 3 stars.

I wish I had wonderful things to say about this Thai restaurant but it was just … Meh. Ok. Value for money — barely. Service with a smile — not so much. Authentic Taste — some so, some not so. Would I eat here again — not any time soon. We were greeted with a 10 minute wait. I saw this as a positive however it soon turned to 20. This is no reflection of what I thought of my meal. Service was average at best. A smile would go a long way. The food was fresh but over cooked. I ordered the beef green curry and my colleague ordered the prawn noodles. Both flavoursome but the meats were over cooked and rubbery. I didn’t think it was great value for money. I would have given it more stars but no atmosphere, no great service and no great food to speak ok. A forgettable meal experience.

I went to this restaurant for early dinner with my friends after our visit at the Natural History Museum. We were the first to arrive at 5:30pm so didn’t have any problem finding a table in a small dining room on the ground floor. Large windows made the room look specious. The food was great but I guess it lacked the wow-factor. I liked the crispy corn cake appetizer the most out of everything I had that night. It was really crispy and juicy outside and filled with mashed corn kernels inside :) The pad thai wasn’t served with a slice of lime and the dish tasted a little bland because of that. Tom kha hed(coconut mushroom soup), on the other hand, was plenty sour and delicious. We also felt the portion was a bit small. It’s a decent place at a convenient location if you are in South Kensington.

Bullet Point review!: Decent Thai Red Curry. Very claustrophobic restaurant. A little pricey for dinner. Go for the lunch deal if at all

Très petit restaurant. A peine 6 tables. Mais c’est sûrement le meilleur restaurant asiatique que j’ai pu faire de ma vie. Plat très bien présenté, mélange de saveur, cuisson parfaite et prix abordable. Je le conseil fortement, on en trouve pas partout. Très grande qualité !

With a great location near the Natural History Museum, V&A, etc., Thai Square can get quite busy, particularly on weekends and during tourist season. I’m not sure about the layout and décor inside, as I chose to dine al fresco when I went. The menu is quite extensive, with a nice variety of appetizers, soups, salads and main dishes made with either chicken, beef, lamb, duck or shrimp. There are also 2-pages full of vegetarian options. I was quite happy with the vegetarian appetizer sampler(delicious little corn cakes, tempura veggies, spring roll) and the Thom Ke Had soup. I wasn’t too happy with the service though, which was quite slow. In spite of its fairly touristy location, Thai Square does have very good food at decent prices, but it’s not really anything spectacular.

This is a great location very close to the V&A. The interior is cozy, and although the place was quite busy around 8:00p on a Friday night, we were seated within five minutes. My friend and I shared the combination appetizer to start with spring rolls, chicken satay, etc.(nothing extraordinary). He ordered the aromatic duck in tamarind sauce, and I ordered a prawn and scallop dish. The prawns and scallops were spicy, delicious and enormous — much more than I could eat. I ended up eating more than my share of the duck in tamarind sauce, as it was irresistibly tender and sweet. The mango sorbet and Jasmine tea were also both lovely. The service here is a bit slow, though not obscenely so. I would highly recommend Thai Square if you’re looking for a leisurely, delicious and reasonably priced meal in South Kensington.

Great price, quality and service for its location. We stopped by after leaving an event at the V&A after 930p on a Wednesday night. I had little hope for any decent restaurant being open at that hour, let alone a reasonably priced one in this high-end area. Thai Square was not only open, but friendly and fast. The price points were standard for London but not for this high-end area, so that was appreciated. I had filled up on free bites from the event before, so just got a beer(only one Thai beer available, boo) and an app for about £9. My husband got a chicken dish with coconut rice and was very pleased(about £9 for the main dish). I sampled his and found it to be tasty. The food came out hot and quickly. I wouldn’t make a special trip to come back, but we are in this area often(by South Ken station, the V&A and the Natural History museums) and am happy to have it in my pocket for when I’m hungry and nearby.

A consistent four stars! I didn’t like the Lamb, but all other dishes that I tried were fine(there were five us!). One of the better Thai restaurants that I’ve been to. And while you’re sitting in the restaurant, after you’ve finished eating, pull out your mobile and run Monocle on your Unilocal App. That got us heading to Café Creperie for deserts!
