Very tasty regional Indian fare. Friendly wait staff and nice ambiance. Good for a lunch or a date. Worth the trip.

One of my favorites — Indian cooking with a regional twist. The food is outstanding and the service is great too.(If you are a traveller, always a great fallback option too, if you don’t really know where to go).

I’ve been here in London for a week now and have constantly been complaining about the lack of flavor in any cuisine here. My co-workers insisted that I try a proper curry so I came to Mehek. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo which I was told was the hottest item on the menu. We also ordered the vegetable samosas as a starter. The samosas were very tasty, however the smallest samosas I’ve ever seen! They were tiny triangles that could easily been eaten in one bite. When the entrees arrived I was immediately excited! The naan looked nice and fresh and I was ready to dive in. The Vindaloo was deliciously spicy with a great kick to it. My co-worker, who is a native Londoner ordered the Madras and was sweating bullets. We had a good laugh about the difference in tolerance! Texans can definitely handle the spice.

It’s a shame that I feel compelled to rate this place this low because the food is good, although a tad unimaginative, and the place is spacious and convenient to seat a large number of people in a very busy part of town. To start with, prices are less than appetizing for what looks suspiciously like standard Indian curry take-away menu — but one must give credit where it is due — items are well-prepared, freshly made and not designed to burn your stomach lining. But even so, charging in the range of 12−15quid/main dish with separately charged accompaniments is a tad much for an everyday meal. What peeves me about this place is the odd sort of service. I am a TasteLondon card holder and this place happily claims to welcome TL cardholders but mid-way through your meal, don’t be surprised to have them turn and twist their story on whether you can redeem the discounts that they promised you upon seating. And if you’re two Indian girls hoping to catch a quiet meal, desist from going to this place! It seems to be full of leery and over-friendly waiters who want to know where you are from and what languages you can speak. Really, I don’t visit Indian restaurants for a side of ethnic bonding with random men so could you please just take the order and bugger off? This place is very very close to where I work, where there are few other curry options, so I find myself being a patron of this establishment despite my best intentions otherwise and therefore resent it all the more. This is not out of my own volition, mind, several people I know crave a post-beer curry at the most inopportune moments. I have had a couple of instances of random generosity from the staff in this place in that when I was accompanied by a regular, I got a drink on the house and such, so I feel like a bit of a back-stabber giving them a low rating but to me, the hallmark of good quality is consistency and I am yet to experience that here.

Went for a work lunch the other day and it was great. Not the most imaginative décor but the food was tasty, spiced like Goldilocks(just right) and the service was attentive. The place was busy enough to be full but also quiet enough for a conversation at the table. Two mains and two drinks came to ~£22 each so not a bargain but well worth coming back to.

Mehek restaurant based in the City is certainly making a name for it self with City crowd by serving an exquisite and exciting high quality Indian cuisine. I thought I would eat there as I had heard so much about it and thought being in the City it must be good and I admit I was not disappointed. I understand the word Mehek to mean scent or perfume or fragrance and they do offer a very sophisticated dining experience to those who want more from eating out and are willing to pay for it. If you were to take Indian dine dining a level up then this would be the place to be. The menu is extensive and covers a broad section of cuisine in the varied and different regions of the Indian Sub Continent. The authentic regional cuisines have been moderated by Mehek’s chef in order to create wonderful and intoxicating tastes exhibiting regional cookery at its best using ingredients sourced or produced here in the UK. The décor of the restaurant is very conducive to promoting luxurious and relaxed dining in order to do justice to the food. It has very comfortable seating, a massive bar which has a well edited wine list. The service is warm and friendly without being over attentive or snotty. Each every guest is well looked after by a team of friendly and knowledgeable staff who will concentrate on making sure that people dining in Mehek will enjoy their time and delight in the gastronomic delights extolled by the restaurant.
