This shop is so incredible. I was made aware of it when I saw a tour of it on VogueTV and went in to Hoxton Sq straight after. It is so different on the outside to the interior; which is very white, glossy and has quite a New York boutique feel to it. The range of jewellery and handbags are brilliant too, but as a broke student I just dream of buying them. The sales assistant was really polite when i went in and totally on hand in the unlikely chance that I needed help deciding what to buy. I’m not a big fan of the doorbell though, I prefer a doorman or just open entry on boutiques but I suppose it is for security more than anything else. Its worth a look in, she’s an amazing designer and her pretty East end boutique is the perfect place to see all her creations.

If cutting edge contemporary jewellery is your thing you needn’t look any further than Lara Bohinc in über cool Hoxton Square. Having graced the pages of Vogue, Tatler et al, Bohinc’s jewellery is stocked in Selfridges, Harrods and Liberty but the designer’s original Hoxton boutique is Mecca for all Bohinc fans. If I’m honest, I’ve never been a fan of shops to which entry comes via ringing a bell. I think its a hangover from having worked in a ghastly upmarket boutique on Sloane Street whose relative exclusivity — complete with obligatory door-bell ringing should customers deign to want access — made it the most boring job EVER. That said, ringing a bell should hardly reason enough to avoid Lara Bohinc. Her semi-fine jewellery crafted out of gold plated rhodium, silver and swarovski crystals in at times Art Deco and other times Modernist shapes. As Bohinc’s jewellery doesn’t come cheap my advice would be to get yourself on the mailing list. You’ll get special invites to the shop’s sales where you can pick up a pair of earrings for as little as £25. A relative steal considering Bohinc’s pieces look like they might just be the collectibles of the future.
