I liked this place. I only drank their cider and also was encouraged(read pressured into) jäger-bombs but the atmosphere was great. I loved the open fire, and the look of the place, it was very welcoming, possibly even East London-esque in the nicest way(I love the east end/hipsterville so it’s always a compliment when I say that!) There was a great range of people there from families with toddlers to some rugger-buggers watching the 6 nations. It felt really friendly. Now onto the part I seem to focus on in all my reviews: The toilets. I WANTTHEIRWALLPAPER! *cough* okay, okay. It was a Victoriana style almost monochrone digital print, showing typical victorian ladies and gentlemen going about their day-to-day business but with little twisted additions like pink fairy wings. I decided there and then to make a new band called Twisted Hipster, but then I thought that was too much like other band names. The loos are lovely, fairly spacious and well maintained, plus the really distracting wallpaper, which makes up for not taking your phone to the bogs.

Two stars for the garden! Apart from that it fails! I once ordered a mojito, but it should have been called«dirty dish water» — simply revolting! I’m not a fan of the place, but I do go in infrequently, kicking and screaming! The food is below average and the service very slow. The staff are just not bothered! A friend of mine ordered a merlot and was charged over £10 for a glass, ridiculous! It’s ok to meet people as it’s close to the station, but I would recommend 366. A typical soulless Young’s pub!

Having recently returned from travelling, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Halfway House has had yet another refurbishment. It is now a little brighter and approachable and altogether more accomodating. Unfortunately as pointed out by the user below me, the staff are still utterly useless, the prices border on the truly disgusting and their pitiful attempts at cocktails could almost bring a tear to your eye. So as bad as it was before, it’s still no better, but at least it feels clean now, although it can only be a matter of before the shine on the paint fades.

Previously, I agreed with the two star reviews. Having been to the opening night tonight after a big refurbishment, I’d say the Halfway House now hovers in a halfway house between three and four stars, only *just* eeking into four star territory, at a push. The décor is beautiful now*. It’s a kind of posh country gastropub look. As my boyfriend said, it’s how his mum would decorate a cottage. Also some ubiquitous vintage teacups on tables with tealights or little plants in. I’m normally a bit cynical about such a look, but it was all so high-spec, shiny and new that it did look lovely and I enjoyed it in the candlelight. The service was strange — ignored for ages at the bar but then bothered by several different waitresses while we ate — all trying too hard to check we were ok, take my drink when I hadn’t finished, and ask if we’d ordered. But I put that down to first night teething troubles. The menu is surprisingly dull and limited given the more gastropubby look that they have gone for. About 10 boring tasting plates(mini burgers, salt beef and pickles on bread, sausages in honey etc) and 8 or so predictable mains(fish and chips, steak etc). We had 4 nicely presented tasting plates and they were fine, but only fine. I prefer the Wandle, just 2 mins up the road, but because of its proximity to the station(just across the road — less than a minute’s walk) and my home, I’m sure I’ll be in again. If someone wanted to take a date or parents for a drink somewhere smart-ish in Earlsfield, this could be a good bet. I’ll be interested to see how it wears over time… * They have books lined up on the windowsills as decorations, which I hate. But at least they weren’t glued down or up so high that one can’t even pretend they might get read sometimes. One was by Alan Titchmarsh( ).

Amazing pub. Just opposite Earlsfield station. A great stop on the way home.

A cosy pub, perhaps the best boozer in the area. Youngs really do pubs well, in my opinion, and this pub is no exception. The beer is fine, the staff friendly and it is open until midnight which is the right time to start thinking about going home. I haven’t tried food there for a while, but I remember it to be decent enough.

The Halfway House’s location is appealing. As a previous reviewer mentioned — it’s really close to the station. It looks quite classy from the outside, a proper London pub. I’ve been a little underwhelmed whenever I’ve drank in here. We had a friend who used to work here but that was the only appeal. The drinks are bog-standard and the food is too. This is like any other middle of the road pub and it gets 2 out of 5 for effort — distinctly average.

Halfway house is a decent little pub and restaurant exactly one minute from Earlsfield station. When you walk inside you’ll see that everything is in its place, the menu looks good(if a little bland) and it has a pleasantly warm interior. Sitting down with my GF for an afternoon meal and a drink is a favourite pastime, though Halfway house scuppered my hopes with poor service. The drinks came easy enough, purely because I was served them at the bar and I carried them to the table myself. An hour after ordering our food, we still patiently waited. Then I saw our food gathering dust at the service bar, and we waited still another five minutes for a chatting waiter to bring them over. The food was good, but not worth returning for.

This is a loving friendly cosy pub. A good selection of beers, friendly bar staff and a nice mix of people in there. Perfect pub for a quiet cosy date.

Top beer for a pub — good clientle and nice outdoor space for drinking in the sun.
