Franco & Ginos Sandwich Bar

Franco and Gino’s is a small independent café located just off the Aldwych in central London. They offer a selection of food and beverage options for those looking for a quick bite. The food ranges from simple sandwiches, to full blown curry’s.
‘Gino’s’, as it is affectionately known by its regulars, is a fantastic café. It may not win any culinary awards but you are always sure to be given enough food to feed an army for a very reasonable price.
The staff, lead by the charismatic Gino and the straight talking Leo, are always happy to accommodate any special menu requests and there is always an upbeat attitude regardless.
The fact that Gino’s is such a great environment to have a cup of tea and a sandwich is highlighted by the fact that it has regulars that have been eating there for over a decade.
If you’re near the Aldwych and looking for an oasis of calm where you can enjoy a cup of down to earth, no nonsense tea then Gino’s is the place to visit. Oh, and they do a great cup of coffee.

Franco & Gino’s is placed in one of the busiest areas of theatre land. On matinée days and in the evenings you can be almost certain to see musicians from the local theatres getting their caffeine fixes here.
The sandwiches are basic, and not always the tastiest. I had a roast chicken and cheese panini that, although there wasn’t anything intrinsically wrong with it, left me feeling like little thought had gone into it.
There is very little seating inside, just a bar along one wall. Outside there are ¾ tables that are pleasant in the sunshine but there is little protection for them in the rain.
Service is interesting. You’re never quite sure when to pay if you’re eating in as they rarely seem to actually ask you for money. I recommend paying as soon as you order so as to avoid having to queue to pay once you’ve finished.
They are not open on Sundays.
