Feng Sushi

Good Sushi. Quick service, will come for more.

Ordered a small Sunday dinner from here and was happy with the result.
I had a mixed sushi box (ca. 10quid) the fish was fresh and it contained a decent if not particularly exciting variety. My girlfriend had a softshell crab roll which was pretty delicious. Small gripe was the edamame weren’t salty enough for me but that was easily fixed.
Delivery was prompt despite snow on the roads and all the expected condiments were included. It’s a little bit pricey but I haven’t found comparable quality for less.

Very good noodle soup with a side of tempura.
Sushi are fresh, but somehow don’t quite taste the way I like them.
The restaurant is very confined. It’s quite uncomfortable to sit there, as you are practically seating on your neighbors!

LOVE the sushi when they send me the right order. I order delivery from here loads, but they often mess up the order. I’m not sure how that’s possible seeing as they can’t make a hearing mistake because I order online.
The sushi is delicious and fresh. I just wish they actually sent me the right food more frequently. I continue ordering in the hopes they’ll become more accurate.

Although the yellowtail and the Miso soup are decent here, the customer service and price-​value is absolutely not adequate.
Be aware of the Loch Duart Salmon — it is nothing else than farm raised salmon at a disgustingly high price.
I had this confirmed only after sending the manager to the kitchen and find out. I will not come back here, there are better and friendlier places around Notting Hill.

For what it charges, feng sushi leaves something to be desired for. I had a unagi maki and a soft shell crap roll which were both edible but not worth at all the £17.25 (excluding tip!) they charged me for. Oh well, all in the name of sushi and Unilocal eh?
The rice they used were not the right type of short grain and was slightly overcooked, giving the rolls a stogy feeling as it was stuck together in a mushed rather than naturally sticky way. Also it was a midge under vinegared. The eel was way too fatty and lend to the general sticky mucky texture in my mouth. Heck, I can make a better eel maki using frozen eel from the japanese supermarket. The soft shell crab was better, being fresh fried; but there was something again tacky (texture wise) and blah about the flying fish roe/​mayo mix.
Also, Feng? I am not sure you have noticed, but your restaurant is really small. Your kitchen is about 5 meters from where everyone is eating, so please, people who worked there PLEASE USE YOUR FRIGGING INDOOR VOICE.

Don’t get me wrong– this IS good sushi, but somehow it’s not quite good enough… the prices are just that bit too high for a takeaway– the combinations are not quite the right mix or price meaning you buy 2 but yu don’t need that much food– the nigiri comes with a dab of wasabi between the fish and the rice that you can’t remove if, like me you prefer your sushi without wasabi…
I don’t know, I eat a lot of sushi and just find that the lunch boxes from Abokado or Itsu in central London are much better value and not necessarily any lower in standard… or maybe I’ve just ordered the wrong thing from Feng Sushi? Perhaps, as has been suggested by my Feng Sushi loving friend, I just don’t know quality when I eat it?
Nonetheless, having ordered from here on 4 occasions, I feel that its not quite the whole package…

Y’know, I’m gonna be really snobbish about this one. ‘Cause I’m a fan of sushi, and due to my uncle taking me out to the finest sushi restaurant in Bristol whenever he visited, I’ve probably got fairly high standards. And this was nice, but I just felt it never quite hit the wasabi button for me…
I kind of yearn, and expect sushi houses to conform to my ideal type — so that’s minimal fittings, the subtle use of lighting to create the mood. And I just found this particular place a bit cluttered: lots of random posters and… ‘stuff’ hanging around. However, the sushi itself was very very nice. And quite cheap, which is a good thing I think, I’m not up for sushi just being for an economic realm who have the money to enjoy it… I had nori, a lot of it, which was really good. It’s very well made and presented.
I also like the way they do deliveries, imagine getting takeaway sushi! I’m enthused. SO all in all, yeah, pretty good fare here. I’ve just got my snobbish pretensions about Japanese aesthetics, maybe I should leave these musings to a blog or summat…

One night my roommate and I were starving and deiced that we were both craving sushi — at 9pm! Feng Sushi is a chain of restaurant that specialises in take away & delivery sushi and its Notting Hill location is literally 200 – 300 metres from our front door.
This is so embarrassing to admit but we called them up and actually got them to deliver our sushi to our front door! I know — how lazy! But what could I say — neither of us were particularly fussed about getting out of our pyjamas to go pick up the food.
What’s worse is that when the food came we were like animals, practically inhaling the sushi — which was very impressively fresh and tasty. Mmmm. it was sooooo good! I’m making myself hungry all over again

I saw the Camden branch once in my travels and when I noticed it in Notting Hill thought I’d give the delivery a go. Every time I have been happy with the prompt service and fresh, tasty sushi. The price is definitely not excessive for what you get and the choice is large including tempura, brown rice sushi, and soft shell crab. Its pretty good to know you can get quality, fresh sushi that is better than some restaurants delivered straight to your door.
