Met some friends here who seem to like this place for some reason. It has a pub feel, with cool décor. They have food, we tried several appetizers, none of which were particularly good. The lamb sliders were decent, the other sliders were not great. The bar service was very slow, although this place wasn’t full at all I waited no less than 10 minutes for each beer.

We stopped for lunch after a visit to the Columbia Road flower market on Sunday — food was excellent — burger, salad and roast dinner were enjoyed by all! Great service too!

So, I pass Electricity Showrooms a lot in the evening and normally see a thriving bar, with music, a queue and essentially a bar/club vibe. I have even had drinks there on occasion. I like it, its a nice down to earth clientelle, made up mostly of locals. Having met a friend and wandered around Shoreditch, as usual, my stomach was grumbling. There are the usual suspects in the area for a roast like The Princess of Shoreditch, The Old Red Cow, Jones & Sons and a few if you were to look at the numerous guides on the web. I know of one undiscovered talent, which I will introduce you to next time as I completely forgot to take pics. But here, today, we have Electricity Showrooms. We wanted somewhere not too busy, so we went off Shoreditch High Street and decided upon this venue as it only had five tables full. I had no idea there would be a roast, I just figured I was glad to be away from the usual Sunday masses around Shoreditch/Brick Lane etc. Upon seeing the roast on the menu, it was a no-brainer. I ordered half a roast chicken with the trimmings. It came with a creamy broccoli, on the side and a decent amount of gravy, on the side. The chicken was partnered with lush roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots and of course the obligatory massive Yorkshire pudding. I hate having to ask for extra gravy, as most places are normally stingy, but this was excellent. Smothering this delicately roasted chicken was a delight. My companion opted for spicy chicken wings and fries — she enjoyed hers, but I could see there was a bit of food envy. Electricity Showrooms was a nice little surprise and certainly deserves its spot on a list if the requirement is good food, chilled Sunday vibe and reasonable pricing.

A quaint little pub in the middle of Shoreditch. I swung by for a pre-conference meet up and had a great time! I really love the intimate atmosphere in the back room, as well as the open area around the bar towards the center of the pub. The bartenders themselves were very prompt and easily approachable. You could also tell that they really knew their beers and wanted to find one to match your tastes. And not to mention, the fish & chips here are quite good for your standard bar fare. Overall, a solid pub I would swing by if I were in the neighborhood, but perhaps not one I’d go out of my way to visit.

Love it here! You can actually get a seat and in the summer and your lucky you can sit in the sun by there open windows! The prices are pretty London standard but it is good to have the option of casual drinks and then going down stairs for a wee dance! I am yet to try the food but it always looks delicious when i see it!

Visited the Electricity Showrooms on a Sunday afternoon, more as a meeting point for 24 friends before moving on to Bacchus for a Sunday roast. The bar area is really big, so it is ideal for large groups, and pretty central to all the other places in the area. A plus is also the huge neon sign outside makes it easy to spot. We only had drinks, but the food that came out looked really good. I had pleanty of opportunity to see it, as the barman also acted as waiter. His waiting seemed seemed to be his priority, as I had to wait patiently at the bar, as he kept disappearing to get more meals from the kitchen. At least I knew I would be the next person to be served, as I was the only person waiting at the bar. The drught beer selection seemd to be sewn up by the Camden Brewery, although they had one draugh lager alternative in Estrella Damm, which was my choice. On going to the toilets downstairs, I saw a huge function room, which I understand is a populr disco. Despite appearing invisible for several minutes, I would come back here. It had a nice laid-back atmosphere. Although I’m talking about a Sunday afternoon. I’m sure it’s a totally different stoty on a Friday por Saturday evening.

A great place to meet your friends as no one can miss the big light outside. Staff are friendly and you get served fairly quickly too. The drinks menu is varied enough to keep you there for awhile. The food is standard pub food but they come in large portions if you order the main.

This is one of my first thoughts when going out for drinks, or going somewhere to eat. The selection of drinks is great, especially as it seems to be one of the rare places around that actually sells porters and stouts! Furthermore, the food is wonderful, my favourite being the sweet potato wedges. I usually find that this place is very lively, especially on an evening. This may mean that service takes a little longer than one might want, but I can easily put this worry aside as the experience of coming here is just so good. Last but not least, I adore the décor. If you take the time to look around, you will find many things that will make you giggle and wonder. Overall, it is one of my favourite places in the area and I would heavily advise going.

Is this place overrun with hipsters? NO Do they have a cool revolving door? Yes Is it old and quirky? Yes Is it also cheap university bar style? Yes Do they have pretty good beer & wine? Yes Was the service good? Yes So, if all these positives why the 3 stars? My best friend & I were enjoying a few libations here and tapping our toes to the music when one of the staff came over to us and said we had to move because the table we were at was reserved and the guests had just arrived, although they forgot to put a sign on it earlier in the day. Hmmm… On our arrival, we saw 2 tables in the front with ‘reserved’ signs so how come this one at the back was missed? Hmmm… We vacated & went to the bar to continue our drinks but kept sight of the table to see who these folks were. To our suprise they were the Invisible People of Imaginery Land. Yeah, not a soul turned up for the table and in fact, more people arrived later and just plonked themselves there. We finished our drinks but noticed this table changed at least 3 different groups of people. So, why the heck did this girl lie? We do not know but that little stunt just earned them a 3 star review.

Came by for a pint(or three) on a Sunday night. Sadly, it wasn’t as lively as I assume Fridays or Saturdays are(though it had more people than many of the bars in the immediate vicinity). They were showing a World Cup game, and we sat at the bar upstairs and struck up good conversations with the two bartenders. They were super friendly. The space itself is pretty big, with a bunch of tables for dining against the windows, and booths in the back with more privacy.

Terrible bar service on a Friday night. You expect this to be a night equipped to handle continuous service. My friend waited 25 mins whilst people were served left and right of him. Despite protest the bar staff fobbed him off for no good reason at all. Poor staff numbers doesn’t equate to an excuse for incompetence. Not in a hurry to return. Other than the service, the atmosphere was pleasant enough.

Not a bad spot to round off the night bearing in mind I was suffering from the Red Dog Wings Challenge. Packed but big enough to deal with it. Hipsters but not too in your face. Friendly staff. Quick service. Good choice of drink and prices not too terrifying especially for the area. Other than that. Relatively harmless. This is Hoxton you’re just round the corner from the Square so you don’t expect normal human beings after all.

A solid 3 stars for me — didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It left me somewhat confused. You see, perched at the bar on a stool it had a friendly, relaxed vibe and a trendy bar feel to it. Fast forward a half hour or so and in came lots of hipster-types with their oversized black-rimmed specs and skinny-jeans, fast-forward another hour or so and in came the over-dolled up ladies. I popped to the loo only to find myself walking through an area completely different from the bar front. I started wondering if I’d walked into a Wetherspoons by accident. It smelt like disinfectant and cheap aftershave and was full of old men and angry-looking young ones. And then I was back in the front bar surrounded by bimbos and«men»(read: boys) with hair like they’d just stuck their finger in a live socket. … dear lord I’m getting old… Still, the house wine wasn’t bad and I had a couple to drown out the sad reality of the situation.

Hand on heart I’m not sure what this establishment is trying to be. Are you a club? Or are you a pub? Or perhaps you are both? Thumbs up — The Superman style revolving door. The Bugsy Malone style bar stools The Chicago style dressing room lamps Thumbs down — The bar smells a bit like a university student union. The staff look like they are still students. The frying oily smell get into everything. However £5.50 will buy you a rather tasty large glass of house red or white, so I had two reds. Which as you would imagine, I rather liked!

WIN! I like this place. I’m visiting London from San Francisco, and fellow Unilocaler Eamon B. showed me this fun fun fun bar. I love how it’s a bar but also happens to have an awesome dancefloor on the ground floor. And not just any dance floor — a colorfully lit up one, with mirror ceilings! Tight. The music is fun, ranging from old classics like Sugarhill Gang and the Smiths to newer stuff like MGMT. The beer is fine and pretty reasonably priced. On a Friday night, it wasn’t super packed and there were actually places to sit, which is always appreciated. Oh, and the fact that that dancefloor exists bumps this review up another star. Fun place, and if you’re reading this from SF and are planning to visit London, this place also reminded me of the Mission District, complete with plaid-wearing dancing hipsters. So if you’re looking for a taste of home away from home, come here. Overall, though, the crowd seemed pretty mixed, and it’s chill. Oh, and I like the name too. And the bright neon lights out in front. You just gravitate towards it. Definitely makes me feel like one of those bugs that are drawn to super bright lights from those bug zapping contraptions. Well, minus the death part.

Just when you thought that light up dance floors hit the long and lonely road with snap bracelets, hypercolor shirts, and Lisa Frank trapper keepers(all of whom, by the way, are probably rolling deep with the Dominos Noid and Jessie Spano at The Max), … you step into the pleasure palace that is Electricy Showroom. Beckoned downstairs by a flashing cockerel and promising sounds of groovetastic soul favourites, I was rewarded with the long-to-be-believed-extinct light up dancefloor that even the shyest of folk couldn’t resist. And the Michael Jackson montage was definitely an incentive. It was pretty steamy in all aspects of the matter, from the temperature to the DJ’s attitude, and even the queue to reach the bar was pretty hot and heavy. This is my sole star-retracting beef. Don’t hate, ventilate! But swinging by for a Saturday night booze+boogie sesh is totally worth it, if solely for the possibility of seeing R.O.U.Ss and Unicorns co-mingling with Inigo Montoya. If anywhere, it could happen at Electricity Showroom.

Unusual pub near Hoxton square that seems both trendy and old fashioned. Whichever, it’s certainly popular. And I can see why. It’s certainly the only pub I’ve ever seen with a revolving door to get in. I wonder if that has caused some amusement when particularly drunk people have been leaving at the end of a night. Has a couple of ales on tap and an extensive choice of beers beyond that. Should be something for everybody. On a 2nd visit I wandered downstairs where it’s legendary disco floor can be found and enjoyed a portion of possibly the best Karaōke night I have ever come across. In general I’m a Karaōke hater but the song list was extensive and unpredictable and people danced to the songs too! I have been more than once since and this place just continues to grow on me. I gave it a 3 initially but now it scores a 4. Could well be worth a 5 at some point, particularly if it’s ales are off less often(off in the not available sense rather than the bad tasting sense).

Until I discovered the Electricity Showroom I’d always felt there was something missing from my life. Yes, relaxing with friends in a cool bar was fun but could it not be so much more? Could we not be accompanied by a light show from a giant plastic cockerel, its ‘feathers’ flashing every 3 seconds? Was this too much to ask? Not for the ‘Showroom anyway. I would recommend this bar for a sight of this bird alone as it is truly is one of the ugliest wall hangings I’ve ever seen but weirdly appropriate in this venue. Whenever I’m near the bird I find myself completely transfixed in a game of trying to count all the dud bulbs before the next flash. Sounds fun huh? Now I know a little better, I avoid the bird and head straight downstairs to the club area which is just as bright but not quite so hypnotising. There is a fun mix of music between cheesy ‘classics’ and contemporary beats and a great Saturday night fever dance floor. Visit here when your sober and it’s quite fun to count how many people strike the John Travolta pose to their friends as though it’s a piece of comedy genius. Have a drink too many though and you won’t be able to restrain yourself from lifting that pointed index finger to the ceiling. I like the Electricity Showrooms because although they’re situated in trends-ville Hoxton they still seem to have a bit of their own personality and playfulness. Definitely a good place to start for a fun night out.

Near Hoxton Square, meet there all your pals, have drinks and then go for dancing downstairs. The ground flour is huge and there are a lot of different seats reparted all over the place. The basement is a bit small as there is a bar also and the roof is not high but It didn’t stop me to have fun as the dancefloor is amazing with a lot of colours like a ‘Pulp’ video. The sound is not the same between the two floors which means that you can’t resist to the music if you go downstairs for sure ! Good surprise for those like me who were scared to not breathe, I always felt air condition wherever I was on the dancefloor.
