My friends and I ordered take-away(to collect) last night, and I had the chicken ceylon, with pilau rice and garlic naan bread which cost £9 overall. The food was really well cooked and the naan was exquisite, though I was disappointed that the guy taking my order told me that the meal was only slightly spicy, as it ended up being incredibly hot! That’ll teach me to try to order slightly spicy food from an indian restaurant I guess… Still, no complaints about the quality of the food, it was exactly what I’d expect when getting a curry take-away.

A hidden gem, and much more reasonably priced than places like Holy Cow. The interiors are smartly done and a great place to enjoy a sit-down meal as well as a take-away. Try the Chicken Rezalla.

This is a real overlooked gem. I normally go to another curry house in the area which *is* byo and a little bit famous, but this place is a completely solid alternative. If it was in a different neighbourhood, it’d be packed out of the rafters. Very solid curries, not greasy, super friendly staff(it’s almost embarassing — it’s like they’re super grateful for your business), the décor of a place twice the price — all starched napkins and polished woodwork… and you can usually get a table, even on an Saturday night. The kind of place where the staff migth get to know your name.

Okay, so I have lived in the area for just shy of two years, you would think that I would have tried this place. Sad but true, I went in for the first time last weekend — for shame! I don’t even know where to begin… So it’s Saturday night, and we’ve missed«dinner time», but we’re both hungry. Didn’t fancy ordering in so I suggested we taking a jaunt down to this curry house that I walk past everyday(yes, I know it’s bad.) I had been told it was good so I thought what the hey, lets give it a go. Please note that my partner in crime is a huge curry fan, so this was a test of mega proportions. Our order ran as follows: Starter — Poppadoms and chutney /onion salad /dips. Main — Fairly spicy Lamb Madras & Lamb Jalfrezi Bread — Keema Naan Rice — Basmati rice Vegetable — Daal Saag Drinks — Wine and Cobra Never guess how much it came to? Go on one guess… forty quid! I KNOW!!! And not only was the price good, the food is fantastic and the portions substantial. As I’m writing this, I suddenly realised that you might actually want to go there now, hmmm. Just so you know, it’s a teeny tiny restaurant, maybe seats only 20 people, but, don’t panic the large percentage of their business is take-away(that’s how they started), in fact when we arrived about 9pm on Saturday the owner told us that he had had already made about 80 deliveries! They open at 5pm — crickey! Here some inside info for you, the owner also told me that in the summer they will be opening a new roof terrace! Granted you are still in Brixton but there is nothing like eating al fresco. However if I don’t get a table, I’m coming after you. ;o)

Curry Paradise is one of my favourite Indian restaurant in Brixton and London. The food is fresh and taste great, it;s not like some other places that reheat their food. I know the manager Zak very well from going there over the past 3 years, him and his staff are rely lovely and always a good laugh there. The restaurant has a nicly stock bar as well and the price range for a meal is about £10 to £12 well for what I normally have :)
