I really enjoy blackbird bakery, the vibe is always friendly and approachable, the staff know what they’re selling an can advise on dietary requirements. The coffee’s better than Starbucks, but not quite at high end level. That said, where they really shine is the cakes and bread! Huge selection on offer, my favourites are the almond horseshoes, carrot cake, walnut brownies, and the croissants are AMAZING! Nice and big, very light and fluffy, perfect with a coffee. They get the balance on almond croissants just right too, other places make them too sweet but these are spot on. We buy our bread from here all the time, the walnut and onion bread is my personal favourite, poppy seed is nice, and for a treat we get the buttermilk current bread on Saturdays. It’s basically a huge hot cross bun! They also sell their own jam, granola and muesli which is pretty good. Finally, the price. Not cheap, but you’re paying for quality ingredients, organic flour, free range eggs and no artificial preservatives anywhere. Everything is handcrafted by their own team of bakers and you can really taste it. Why are you still reading this when you could be having cake?
