Great sushi and sashimi. They prepare everything with fresh ingredients only and in a very traditional Japanese style. Additionally the dishes are presented in a unique and attractive way, which increases your appetite even more. The interior of this restaurant is very authentic and gives the feeling like you are eating in a busy small street restaurant somewhere in Japan. Although the place can get very crowded sometimes the staff manage to provide excellent service and serve you right on time, but if I were you I would definitely come here earlier or make a reservation.

I’m not going to lie, I could’ve gone to any atari-ya in London, heck, I could’ve gone to any Japanese restaurant in London. But I came here. «Why?» I hear you asking with anticipation. Well, because I thought taking Vivian to Vivian Avenue for dinner would be funny. And it was, for me. But I got more than I bargained for. And for that I’m very grateful. I absolutely love Japanese food, and like to think that I know a fair bit about it. I could tell you the difference between sashimi and nigiri, the order that you should probably eat your fish in and proper etiquette for dipping your nigiri in soy sauce. But something I did not expect to eat when I booked this Atari-ya was eating Chazuke, or Ochazuke. For the uninitiated, this is rice with soup(can be green tea or hot water) and a topping. I have a weak spot for ikura, one that makes me order ikura wherever I go. So I couldn’t let their ikura chazuke go uneaten. Rice + soup + ikura is the recipe to my heart. I didn’t know that until now. I say I got more than i bargained for, I guess what I mean is that, I wanted a meal — I got that, but I got an education too. I was reminded of the simplicity of Japanese home cooking and despite forking out a fair bit for the meal, I feel the authenticity was worth it. Atari-ya does charge a premium, but I enjoy going none-the-less. I will be back for the chazuke. Everything else was solid.

I found another favourite here for the winter! On a chilly evening and in need of comfort, I found myself here with a bowl of salmon chazuke, which is boiled rice and soup with the salmon topping. It really made me feel better and was really good. I also tried the sweet prawn nigiri and the scallop nigiri and both were good but the scallop was the winner for me. I didn’t like the ohitashi spinach salad, as it was rather flavourless but the agedashi deep fried tofu was good and came with a really delicious sauce. With it’s great value and excellent flavour and freshness, Atari-Ya will always be one of my favourite places.

This Restaurant and Takeaway is authentically Japanese except for price. The menu is limited to Miso Soup and Sushi. You order a portion which is 6 pcs and you share with your companions. You are able to design your on Sushi. California inside out Tuna and Avocado is a must.

Great, fresh fish and a small but perfectly formed selection of hotels food. The katsu was great. Service a little patchy but very good value.

This place is Amazing!!! Absolutely love it. Their sushi is brilliant, fresh and really well made. the place itself is quite small so make sure you book in advance(they get full almost every night), unlike other branches of Atari-Ya even if you wanna sit at the bar it still might be booked in advance! The service is great and lacks nothing. Great value for money, one of the best places to have sushi in London; especially on a tighter budget.
