I don’t write many one star reviews but Apt just about earns the one star. A group of around half a dozen of us came armed with a £50 tab(we spent £25 and it was doubled) but the problem was trying to spend it as the average queue time at the bar was 40 minutes per round. I had the misfortune of standing at the bar and watching a group of five women being served cocktails so slowly that one of them had finished their drink before the last of the group was served. I made the mistake of putting my business card in the prize drawer so they keep contacting me with great offers. I came again the following week to drink the free beer I won but a casual observation of the bar showed that things were the same speed as before. I don’t think I will return unless I have another moment of weakness for a free beer.

Typical top 40’s cheesy dance pop music. No cover and the drinks are priced average. It was veeeery loud downstairs and it felt like a meat market. The layout downstairs is very cramped and it was hard to find a good spot to dance. I bashed my knees a few times on hidden sofas and chairs while trying to find a dancing space. Upstairs was better, you could have a bit of a chat. Doubt I would come here again unless a group of friends dragged me here.

I had a fantastic evening with my friends here. The drinks are a little bit on the pricey side however it has an electric atmosphere and the music was good.

50% drinks on Wednesday evening was a welcome change from the typical pricing policies around here. Interior was pleasant, service a little slow considering how quiet it was. I would potentially come back with friends or colleagues and make a night of it, but as a place to have a drink, it’s perfectly adequate.

After drinks with friends in The Wine Tun we were looking for somewhere to go dancing. Apt fit the bill and there was no cover. Downstairs was packed, the music was OK, could definitely move to it(if there had been room to move). The place was full of people in suits enjoying the start of the weekend. It was OK, I’d go again but not often.

Went on a Thursday night for dancing. The city’s big night out? Oh. One big group and several small ones kept the place reasonably busy but not packed, but all determinedly kept to their own groups and generally the vibe was fairly… missing, really! You make your own fun here because the crowd and the music ain’t going to do it for you. The music was mainly commercial pop but seemed to have no direction, the DJ seemed to be hiding in his corner playing whatever he found in his cd box more or less at random — hardly guaranteed to get the crow moving! Quite a few drunks and lots of dropped glasses — the poor guy with the mop was busy all night. However, no trouble or fights. Didn’t feel obliged to cut it fine for the last tube home and have just one more dance.

I found myself in the midst of dagger eyes when i was in this place, dagger eyes from the city bods! I came in here after work hours wearing Abercrombie and Fitch ripped jeans and a pair of flip flops. and well… did i feel well out of place surrounded by the suits and skirts… I felt so wierd in there, i spent most of my time looking around, feeling really uncomfortable. The place is pretty nice though, it’s clean has an upstairs and dowstairs it’s well maintained and, if your a young single person, and dress decent then hey it’s a place for you. not overly expensive as you’d think. This year they had an excellent 4th of July celebration, the decorations were really cool! I’d definately go back from time to time!

Another pretty pointless nightclub that has ideas above it’s station. Very popular with after work types who have more money than taste and who enjoy mixing with other people who have even less taste, before they get the central line back to some chav ridden place in Essex. Personally I wouldn’t bother, actually to be more precise I can’t think of one night club in this area I would bother with. On the bright side it is better than the truly truly terrible Thai restaurant /night club across the road.

Another contended for the prestigious award of cheese central. Apt is a city boy(and girl) bar for the after work crowd. The clientele are certainly keen to let their hair down, and after about 9 it can start to get a little sleazy, especially once the downstairs bar opens up the dance floor. Drinks are not unreasonably expensive, and the upstairs bar is a perfectly nice place to spend a few hours chatting with friends or enjoying a quick bite. There are other bars nearby that you can move on to if the temptation to make a fool of yourselves becomes too strong, or you can just embrace the cheese and sleaze and have fun.

Apt has left gastro-pubs in the dust and taken modern British food to a whole new level, couched in sex-in-the-city cool. The lounge bar design is super-chic with black leather finishings, steel and slate tiling. When you walk in with your power suit and stilettos, it feels right, and the crowd reflects this although miraculously remain unpretentious. The venue caters for everything, with a good lunch menu of gourmet sandwiches and salads; a dinner menu of traditional-British-food-with-a-twist; a great selection of cocktails and a dance floor that gets quite busy once everyone lets their hair down. You might think this a metro nightmare, but it is stylish and composed and fit-to-purpose

Apt is a cocktail lounge/bar/club in the middle of the city close to Bank. The crowd tends to be office/bank workers from the surrounding areas and is busy on a Thurs or Fri although recently alot of business has been taken away by Abacus on Cornhill and Revolution on Leadenhall. I have visited Apt only twice and have not gone out of my way to re-visit. I felt that it lacked atmosphere. Set on two floors, the bar on the top floor gets very busy as it is only small and downstairs in the cocktail bar there is seating and lower ligthing. Both times I have been we have headed straight downstairs. The cocktails are good and it is relatively cheap. Now open on Saturdays as well.
