Held the third Sunday of every month*, the tiny Hope Street Farmers Market is a great addition to the Hope Street Quarter. A stone’s throw from The Quarter, Host and London Carriageworks, it usually consists of a dozen to twenty stalls run by local farmers and artisan producers. I’ve picked up some lovely beetroot, fennel, courgettes, watercress and cheese from here but the thing I keep returning for is the stall selling Mary’s Homemade Cakes. Clearly made with love from good quality flour, butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla essence, they include incredibly moreish gingerbread, fruit cake, flapjacks and gluten-free chocolate brownies. * In the autumn and winter, the market might be cancelled if it’s bad weather.
