Agree with previous reviewers — this place is brilliant! Great cakes, lovely tea, generous portions of main meals. We got a bit carried away here last year when we visited and were there for a good two hours sampling all of the delicious food. Nice outdoor seating area, my favourite place to sit during the summer months, provided we get some good weather ;) I have to visit Leicester every July for an event I help co-ordinate, so Mrs Bridges ends up being a constant on the calendar.

What can I say that everyone else hasn’t already mentioned? If you’re in Leicester you MUST visit Mrs Bridges. I’m not ashamed to say that I am now considered a regular, Mrs Bridges herself(I’m sure not her real name) always takes the effort to say hi when she sees me, which I love. It is quaint, it’s one-of-a-kind, it has an epic menu of breakfasts, English classics, countless sandwiches and AMAZING cakes. There is honestly nowhere else in Leicester I’d rather pop in for breakfast, lunch or a spot of tea and cake. Everything is handmade, portions are big, there are some really interesting experimental sandwiches to choose from, as well as the classics, and always something new and exciting on the specials board. Avoid the chains and take a chance on this hidden gem. You really won’t be disappointed.

We had what we honestly consider to be the best sandwiches that we have ever eaten [outside the home]. The special for the day of seared rump steak, red onions and wholegrain mustard on sourdough was unbelievable. My wife’s pork belly with apple slices on sourdough was, she reports, similarly magnificent. The décor inside is great with antique bits and pieces all over the place. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the coffee. I made the mistake of ordering a double espresso — it was practically undrinkable.

You know you’re instantly in love with a place when issues become foibles. Couldn’t be truer here: the slightly manky toilets? The lack-lustre salad next to my sandwich? They’re all part of the charm! This really is a charming place, though. A wonderfully old-world feel pervades the place: it’s like nothing has changed here, ever. The sandwich I had was pretty damned good too.

With the ever increasing waves of dull, cloned coffee shops and juice bars springing up around Leicester, it’s great to have been privy to an established and original tea mecca like Mrs Bridges. The sandwiches are truly inventive, unique and enormous. So relax in the 16th c. courtyard and partake of freshly baked buns, sweets and fantasmagorically prepared sandwiches and swear off McDonald’s fast food crap for life.

I found this place quite by mistake and went here for lunch, it does lovely little lunches like jacket potatoes and is great value for money. Staff were friendly and food was served very quickly which is what you need in your lunch break. Great place

Mrs Bridges Tea Rooms is a little quaint tea room it does tea in a tea pot which is a good thing. The coffee is great but then again i am a coffee snob. They do fantastic cakes and a very lovely tea time menu for you to enjoy ranging from sandwiches to jacket potato’s to quiche. If you are a vegetarian then you will be pleasantly suprised as there range tends to be rather good. If you are opting for a drink and quick snack then i would recommend the cake platter, which is ideal for one sweet tooth lover or for two to share, you get a little slither of five cakes and there hand made ice cream, it is delightful. They also offer a catering service!
