Visited with a friend. There really isn’t much in Bexleyheath to eat, and I wanted to use my taste card so Pizza Express won. I used to eat here all the time and have fond memories of pizza and a cold glass of wine. The menu has changed since I last ate here(about 3 years ago) and there wasn’t really any pizzas that appealed to me. When I ordered I was offered a thick or thin base, which I found quite strange. So I went with the thin. It was huge and they now give you a little pizza cutter which I thinks make it more like Pizza Hut than Pizza Express. The pizza was on the bland side, but could easily feed two. Our server was friendly, and although he went through the motions with us(water, olives etc) he never managed to bring anything no matter how many times we asked. I asked for a glass of water 4 times then asked someone else who brought it straight away. Not the best. Overall, I have no intention of eating in this branch again(unless I’m in Bexleyheath…), but I would be willing to try different locations. Was an ok price with a Taste Card but I wouldn’t pay full prices.

I know, I know, it’s a chain. And it’s uncool to say this. But, I LOVEPIZZAEXPRESS. The one in Bexleyheath is nestled a few doors down from Pizza Hut and though it’s a bit pricier, it’s definitely worth it to escape the screaming hoards of kids and ice cream bars filled with sticky-fingered toddlers. It’s clean, usually quiet and they don’t frown on you if you ask for wine at 2pm. What could be better. We were after lunch somewhere quiet where we could talk over something tasty and ‘healthy’(when I say healthy, I mean it comes with salad and doesn’t have oil dripping off it, which is a novelty for places to eat in Bexleyheath) and so we found ourselves here. First thing to say is that Pizza Express seem to tailor the decorations in each of their restaurants. There were little quotes and facts about Bexleyheath on the walls and all the staff live locally as far as I can tell, so you really feel like you’re local. They definitely have that down pat and it seems to work as they’re definitely competition to the locals. All the personal touches of a Bexleyheath restaurant… with the convenience of cheap prices afforded by buying in bulk and a handy online ordering service if you want a takeaway. The service is really good. The waitress was friendly and chatty and recommended things we could order that were big enough to share, thus halving our bill. She also was adept at coming over during a lull in the conversation, ensuring we had privacy when we were eating and talking but were never left without food or drink. Perfect. The food itself was as good as ever. Crunchy bruschetta with fresh-tasting tomatoes and mushrooms, HUGE pizzas with lots of greenery and beautifully salty parma ham. It has enough variety that it appeals to the masses and yet tastes fresh and homegrown, even though it’s far from it. Price-wise, it’s pretty good. Sure, it’s expensive compared to Pizza Hut or Pizza-by-the-slice places, but as a restaurant where you can sit down and have a pizza with a glass of wine, it’s cheap and ideal. I’ll definitely be back. Yum.

I love Pizza Express, the pizza(ETNA!!!) is really nice, the service is always spot on. However, this place is smallish & there are alot of teens! atmosphere can get loudish! IMO. Pizza Express is always nice in a romantic setting, the pizza’s, pasta’s etc are that good, but in this restaurant it will not be romantic, due to size of restaurant & loud teens!
