I’ve been coming here for many years and I still love coming. Always bring friends, family and even clients from out of town too. It’s a beautiful building, really looked after and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Are you a fan of Art? come, see and enjoy.

I was very impressed with this place, for a start it is housed in a magnificent building and secondly with the wealth of things to be found inside! And do you know what? It is free entry, you cant ask for more!

One of the finest provincial Art Galleries in the country and still no entry fee. The permanent collection covers many areas and Ferens also features many traveling and temporary exhibitions. The café is also well worth visiting.

I love popping into the Ferens Art Gallery in my lunch hour. Of course I can’t do the whole thing in that time, but the individual rooms are big enough to pass 20 or 30 minutes. Furthermore to have a place of such peace and calm right in the heart of the city makes the place a little sanctuary. Of course this gets 5 starsValue for money it’s free to get in. The exhibitions and exhibits are rotated on a regular basis. It’s been mentioned before, but the staff keep this(and the other museum buildings run by the Council) immaculate, and they always acknowledge you when you walk in. Sadly at the moment, like so many public services and facilities, there are questions as to the future of the Gallery. Without going into the whys and wherefores the one thing that is certain if people don’t visit the gallery it will be lost

Fabulous art gallery in the city centre. If you have children, the Children’s Gallery is a wonderful little area upstairs that will keep them amused, and teach them a little about art in the process.

This building is situated in the middle of Hull centre. It is a magnificent building on the outside as well as the inside. I love the variety of paintings and portraites in this gallery. There is a very large dramatic painting of a lioness with her cubs around her. I love this painting. I would like to have some audio commentry that other galleries have adopted to listen to as you are going round looking at the paintings. This place is always immaculately kept. I would certainly recommend a vist to tis gallery. It’s not the largest of gallerries but if you look at the detail on most of the hangnings then you could spend several hours.

a small but very well maintained gallery with an ever growing collection. they have some fairly famous art within the collection such as some newer and more contemporary additions like emin and offili and lots of local pieces to like the originals to the beautiful souths album covers. the exhibitions changed fairly regularly so theres often something new to look at.

Went for afternoon tea. Place was empty. Serves sandwiches, cakes and drinks. We had coffee and cakes. Nothing special but a nice break in the city centre. Reasonable prices.

A free art gallery with a great café with terrace. As a teenager my cousin and I would try and stnd on our heads to look at the portrait of The Martydom of St Sebastian. Ok we were weird we wanted to see if he was good looking right way up and he wasn’t really :)) A lovely place to spend an hour or so. We used to go here, and other free museums in Hull, at lunchtime, when I was at Art College. From Fran Hal and Elwell to David Hockney and John Davies. My Favourites(other than ST S) are a woman playing cards by Frampton and The Lettermen by Peter Black(Pop Art). There is also a great portrait of Hulls first lady Maureen Lipman. Small shop for prints and postcards.
