I love Savers. Yes I DO like my higher end cosmetics these days, but I’m a midlands girl at heart and I like to save money when possible! Savers sells most high street makeup/cosmetics/cleaning brands at bargain prices. Why? I don’t really know, but I always end up filling up a basket of supplies. Also. I’m a fan of fake eyelashes. Savers sell Eyelure eyelashes that usually sell for around £5/6 a pack in Boots or Superdrug for £1.49!!! That’s madness. I always grab at least 5 pairs every time I go in.

Cheap and cheerful with long queues that move quickly.

Unfortunately, Savers does not have light bulbs, which is what I was looking for. But they do have pretty much anything you might have to rush out and get for your home: paper towel, cleaning supplies, toothpaste, any kind of baby product, hair dye, face cleansers, make-up, shampoo, eye drops … all these emergency items. I’d never heard of a home and beauty type shop, so it was quite interesting to walk through Savers yesterday. It’s like a grocery store without the food, really. Although there are sweets. Prices are indeed, quite cheap, and there’s a January Sale going on that has several items discounted — almost reduced by half, I’d say. If you’re a really big fan, you can apparently become one officially on facebook, or follow them on Twitter. Oh, what an age.

Okay, so let’s get it straight from the start, Savers isn’t the most inspiring place you could work. I’m being neither cruel, nor snobby when I say this — it’s pretty much a fact. Staring at row upon row of discount shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, cosmetics, bleach and oddly, chocolate all day doesn’t exactly compare to working in the Louvre, or being a surgeon, in the excitement stakes. However, this is not an excuse for poor service. The woman who served me looked so miserable it made me want to go home and not leave for days. Having worked in some dismal customer service jobs, I know that it can sometimes be tiring and mundane, but the best way to avoid this is by being positive and working out how much money you’re earning as every minute passes! The store did its job and was well stocked, methodical in its organisation and full of great offers, but the staff need a slice of positivity pie with their coffee!

It’s rare to find a shop that has good quality health and beauty products at cheaper prices than Superdrug. It’s worth popping into Savers on a regular basis however, for they seem to get well known brand at half the RRP. I’ve picked up Oil of Ulay serums and moisturisers here for for a bargain and the same hair serums they sell in Boots for £3 cheaper. There’s new stock everyday and often they seem to get shipments of products which have just changed packaging. We’re talking £18 for serum in the new box at Boots and £7 for serum in the old box here? It’s a no brainer, isn’t it?
