This review is for the new UAL Lounge in T4. The new lounge is huge. It was not crowded when I visit. In fact, it was quite empty. Food is A-OK. Shower was great. It has WIFI but I did not get a chance to try it.

The only thing that keeps the BA lounge from that coveted five star rating is the lack of showers. The food is solid, the drink selection is tremendous, and the design and atmosphere are relaxing — while it’s no six star Virgin lounge it would get five stars from me if they had showers.

I enjoyed my time waiting for my flight from London at the Star Alliance Lounge. This lounge is for business and first class passengers on certain affiliate(Star Alliance, duh!) passengers. It’s a nice quiet lounge in terminal 1 of Heathrow. They have appetizers, hot and cold food, and drinks available free of charge to first class or premier travelers, as well as free wifi, newspapers, and magazines. They also have toilets and showering facilities. My only complaint was the air conditioning was on a little too high. Recommended if you can swing it!

Eine der besten Star Alliance Lounges hier im Terminal 1 Heathrow. Sehr viel Platz. Freies WIFI und dass ohne Anmeldung. Das kulinarische ist auch sehr vielfältig. Ausgezeichnetes Chili con Carne. Und für Bierliebhaber frisch gezapftes englisches Lagerbier. Diverse Sandwiches,… Auch viel Obst.

This is a very large lounge located in terminal 1. The terminals are very far apart. You have to take a train or taxi to get between them. At this lounge there is: free Wifi without password Showers Food(not that good. isn’t like the lounge in Istanbul) Comfy couches that you can lay down on

One of the better Star Alliance lounges, in my experience. It’s spacious, has responsive wifi, all you can drink, good selection of newspapers and magazines, comfortable seating, and helpful staff. Plus, there are showers! I wish United Clubs would emulate this lounge. I’ve been here fifteen times at least, always in the morning for flights to SFO, and I must say that the breakfast offerings are unappealing to me. The only other negative is the paucity of outlets, making it difficult to charge one’s phone.

In general, airport lounges in Europe and Asia are better than their American counterparts. The Star Alliance lounge in LHR is quite a bit nicer and more appointed than United lounges in the US. However, it is not nearly as nice as the frequently mentioned VA lounge or the Star Alliance lounges in Sydney or Singapore. However, having said that, this is still a comfortable place to relax, have a drink, grab a bite or take a shower before jetting off. There’s a good selection of wines and spirits available, and even beer on tap(in addition to several bottled varieties.) The food is so-so, but is enough to tide one over until getting on the plane. The staff provides great service, including re-ticketing missed transfers or baggage issues.

This is an OK lounge for the star alliance group. The staff is super friendly but that’s about it for the positives. on the so so side, the area can get cramped; seats are not that particularly comfortable; showers are clean but with almost clogged drains; food offerings are just Ok. Regardless, always a nice plus to have lounge access with the ability to freshen up and relax between flights even if not in the best lounge.

As far as lounges go, this is a-ok. Food was marginal. The chairs were a bit awkward and cramped. But none of that matters because of they have a self-served open bar! You can pretty much booze up as much as you want pre-flight on a selection of mixed drinks or beer. Oh — no flight calls so you have to keep track of the boarding time yourself.

It really isn’t fair to compare this(or any) lounge to the Virgin Atlantic lounge at Heathrow. yet. comparisons are bound to be made. This Star Alliance lounge is okay. Far better than the Air New Zealand lounge shared by VA in Los Angeles, but nowhere near the kind of service, selection and pampering you find at the VA Heathrow departure lounge.(I mean, come on, you can get a haircut, manicure, or massage at the VALHR lounge.) What they have here is a selection of seating that is reasonably comfortable, if not a little cafeteria-esque. Some with tables so you can work, some with side tables for your reading and/or plates, and some just for sitting and chilling out. The lounge is fairly quiet, unless you happen to find yourself near someone that insists on singing along with their iPod. Food selection is underwhelming. One soup and a selection of breakfast items that included some decent sausage, a tureen of beans, a tureen of what appeared to be scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and bread selection. Finger sandwiches were available as well. I recognized chicken, tuna salad, and shrimp salad, but without labels, I wasn’t positive. There are two automatic machines to get your espresso drinks or hot water for tea. Also available are a selection of beer, wine, and soft drinks.(by comparison, in the VA lounge one can order up eggs benedict or chicken tikka masala or any number of cooked-to-order dishes as well as the plethora of self-serve treats and eats.) Staffers here are the star of the show as all were incredibly polite and helpful. They don’t announce flights, so you have to watch the board yourself. Much better than hanging out in the airport, and definitely my 2nd choice after VA.

There is a reason the better airlines belong to the Star Alliance. They know how to take care of customers. The facility is spacious, well stocked with finger foods and hot items, as well as cold drinks… even a help yourself liquor and wine counter. I have been here a couple of times and this was the first time Cheri had been there. e both enjoyed this lounge very much. It is wonderful to sit back in comfort, take off your shoes, and relax with a cool drink… pleasure!!!

This is the best star alliance lounge I’ve been to thus far(out of ~10 lounges I’ve been to). They have a food bar just for vegetarians! Alcohol is out for you to take as much or little as you desire. I like that they provide still bottled water as opposed to US lounges that just provide iced tap water. Also having good smelling lotion in the washroom is a nice plus.

Rather pathetic lounge even worse than most RCC aka United clubs. Open bar does not make up for lack of edible food. Nothing healthy except apples and bananas, not even cheese sticks. No sweets either excepted hardened cookies. Seating in uncomfy hard leather chairs. Wifi takes forever to login. No diet cokes. Few power outlets. If *A cared about customers it would send a few employees to T5 and copy BA’s wonderful lounges. Better than waiting in terminal but not by much. One extra star for having a children’s play room.

Why can’t U.S. Star Alliance lounges be even nearly as cool as the ones in Europe? Here, you will find quiet in the storm that is Heathrow. Free booze, real food, comfy chairs with televisions… and the very cool addition of showers! Showers! The décor is modern, spacious and CLEAN. If you’re traveling in business class, you get in free. It’s the only way to wait for your flight!

Good lounge, food offerings are good and the showers are clean. Would rate higher if it had the views of the BMI lounge.

Caveats: would be a 3-star lounge in Asia and a 5-star lounge in the States. Pros: hot food, cold food, open bar, wireless, showers, staff friendly and knowledgable. As a quick example of the latter, the guy next to me has only 30 mins before his flight and has dietary restrictions that prevent him from eating anything other than toast from the breakfast bar. He quietly asked one of the staff if there were any options for him. After a quick chat, the staffer disappeared into the kitchen an personally made the guy a sandwich. Traveler was appropriately appreciative, and the lounge employee brought him a diet coke as well. Never happen in a US lounge. NEVER. Cons: location — it’s buried in an odd little nook of Terminal 1.

On the other side of Terminal 1 from the BMI Great British and London Room lounges. Very large seating areas with a selection of food and a huge offering of help yourself booze and mixers. At breakfast time, I found sausages, toast and pastries as well as two button operated coffee machines. Not nearly as many power outlets as chairs. Free wi-fi. They do not make departure announcements, though there are the occasional missing passenger pages. Noise level is medium — the BMI lounge is quieter. Outside food is not permitted.

What a difference from O’Hare and USA clubs! Fully stocked, unmanned bar. Bacon and sausage sandwiches before 11am. Even brown sauce! Curry after 11(try the pakora) and«tea sandwiches» — same as you get in business class. Full range of papers, kids’ play area. I know people who check in here at 10.30, have the bacon sarnis. wait half and hour then get the curry and tupperware it to take home for dinner in USA. Surely not. yet…

We had 5 hours on a recent layover in London so we headed to the Star Alliance lounge. The lounge is really big with a selection of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, cookies and bags of chips, an open bar with liquor and beers, and cans and bottles of soda and water. We were there early in the morning and there was lots of staff there cleaning and replenishing all the food and beverages. The lounge also has shower facilities which are great and I would highly recommend for anyone connecting in London. Each shower stall has a toilet, a large shower with soap, shampoo and conditioner and a sink. Towels are provided. They don’t provide any sort of shower shoes but I believe they clean each stall after every use. If you have access and a long layover in London, the Star Alliance Lounge is definitely a great spot to go!

United Airlines no longer has a Red Carpet Club at London Heathrow Airport. Instead, it shares a lounge with all other Star Alliance airlines in Terminal 1. I spent almost three hours at the lounge today in between the breakfast and lunch services. The hot food offering at lunch today was mango curry chicken and rice, cream of tomato soup, samosas, and two different types of quiches. Some salads and sandwiches made up the cold food offering. The drink refrigerators are stocked with plenty of cans of soft drinks and bottled beers. Even better, several bottles of liquor(spirits) are at your disposal. If you want a bloody mary, you can make one yourself. Tomato juice, tabasco sauce, worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper are provided. Showers are also available, but I didn’t use them. I can imagine how a shower would be most welcomed if you had a layover at Heathrow after flying in from South Asia or Africa. They do not call out departing flights, so it is very important that you check the monitors for your flight
