Heathrow Airport

This airport got a lot better since lats time I wrote a review. It is running at 90% capacity all the time and it is very efficient for the large number of passengers that travel in and out of this airport on a daily basis. Please, make sure you do not have any type of liquids even face cream, lip gloss or anything like that that you do not put in a bag. It will be found a the line to check your baggage may make you loose your flight.
Overall this airport is very organized, clean, lots of shopping and dining options if you have the time.

It’s good, bad and ugly all at the same time. Having flown in here multiple times to Terminals 2 (Queen’s Terminal) and 4 (Skyteam Terminal), I have had a fair amount of experience with it so I think that I can be fair in my assessment. First, it is not just an airport… it is a HUGE airport and I believe the busiest in Europe. Given that, I have never had a flight actually take off quickly once boarding is completed nor have I ever had one land on a straight in approach. Because it is so busy, you can bank on being held in a landing holding pattern or being held on the ground for what seem like lengthy wait times. This along with the sheer massiveness of the airport layout that makes getting to things such as the underground train or another terminal fairly complex and also can make lines at security and passport control long and slow at times are probably the worst features. What I do like is that it is great to see an eclectic meld of international cultures all together going through life and everyone seems to get along and make it work. The United Nations could probably learn a few things about international tolerance and justice simply by watching the daily life that passes through Heathrow. I don’t give it more than 3 stars simply because it is such a behemoth that it really would not be my first choice in airports. It is congested, far from city center, and definitely not a place for people that do not like crowds. But it does deliver on what an airport should and it does have reasonable food and mass transit options and several hotel options nearby if you are in-​transit and looking for a convenient layover nap. While things aren’t cheap, they never are when you are being held captive in a secure airport setting and I have had to spend many hours waiting here and have always found something entertaining to do, someplace comfortable to rest, and something ok to eat to pass the time. Having been in numerous international airports, this one hits me right in the 3 star zone.

Enjoyed my time at Heathrow. Airport code LHR. Firstly, it is very easy to get to Heathrow. I drove there from Bristol simply by following road signs and needed no GPS or map. I had never driven there before either. British highway signage is just that good. You can also get there by Tube. (subway) bus or taxi. The terminals are clean and there is a lot of shopping opportunities in the international terminal. There are also plenty of food choices too. This is a major international hub so a wide variety of airlines flying all kinds of aircraft serve LHR. Customs is fast and efficient, we cleared it in a few minutes and the customs officials were cheerful too. Highly recommend.

Having been in and out of Heathrow often, I can easily say I’ve had a very good experience every single time. Pretty uncomplicated, considering how massive it is! I love that the Overground train goes straight to the terminals, the staff is very helpful in pointing you into the correct direction if you feel lost or unsure.(They’ve certainly gone out of their way to help me before!) You could easily get lost in here, so I recommend that and planning ahead of time due to it’s size. There’s plenty of low cost as well as high-​end shopping to be had in the airport if you’ve got a significant wait time and pounds to spend, and obviously there is plenty of good people watching. Customs was secure, efficient, and comfortable. I always recommend this airport to frequent travelers, as I work in high-​end customer service myself!

I have not been a very long time on this airport. This because our transit to our next plane was not much. It’s a very big airport. They have only 2 lanes for the aircrafts. Both they use for landing and push off. My experience in the less time we spend there it was very noisy and everywhere they were building new things. One hole big construction site. Maybe there will come a time i will be staying here for a longer time.

I’ve been in and out of Heathrow a few times, and have never experienced any issues. Based on some of the other reviews, perhaps I am a bit lucky. I’ll choose to be positive today, so I’ll focus on just that.
The international terminal is great in terms of a place to hang out, shop or eat. All of these options are located in a central location. However, the system of releasing gate information until 1 hour before boarding can be a bit annoying. I’m just one of those people that likes to be at the gate once I’m done exploring, but that’s just me. If you like walking, great, you’ll have plenty to do. If you don’t, you can curse the long hallways and endless passages.
Customs has always been a breeze, with cabs readily available just outside the door. However, the Heathrow Express can be a bit difficult to find, especially if you don’t get a friendly person at the exit of customs to help you get there.
Airports have a tendency to be hot, stuffy and dirty. Heathrow is none of those things, but still has a few quirks. And after all, why would you want to spend a ton of time in an airport anyway? Explore the city!

This airport is the worst … I recently had a layover for 80 minutes to catch a connecting flight but missed it due to the airport design with shuttle buses and customs with only a couple windows open. Why would a transferring passenger that never left a secured locations need to go thru customs.
THANKS to Expedia for bad planning for my connecting flight and the poor terminal transfer at LHR I had to book another flight that cost me an addition $ 700 for my trip.

It feels so good to be here especially after my recent experience with the alternative (i.e. gatwick)
You can either take the tube (Picadilly line-​the blue one) or Heathrow Express from Paddington. It is in zone 6 so it costs something like 6,40 Gbp by tube I guess, and 15,40 by the express.
If you’d prefer tube, you should better make sure from which terminal your plane is taking off because there are 5 terminals and 3 different tube stations for them (heathrow 1,2,3; heathrow 4 and heathrow 5).
That is how I arrived at the terminal 2. So it’s a cool place; and you have like Ted Baker and John Lewis and duty free area where you can buy liquor or cigarettes, and all the other stuff.
You have free wifi that you can access with your basic info and flight nbr.
And toilets are really clean and my god they smell so good;)
So have a safe flight;)

Heathrow is garbage. Not sure how anyone enjoys this airport.
I would like to think I am maybe biased considering I travel frequently, so I pick up airports quickly and know them very well. Heathrow is EASY to navigate. Extremely easy. The overall experience will suck though.
The staff and employees are usually rude, regardless of what airline. The only polite people are usually other disgruntled flyers who all band together to complain about the dumb things these airlines usually pull.
I would recommend something else, but Heathrow is definitely the easiest connection point to fly through when traveling through England, so I cannot really recommend anything else. Just sort of «suck it up and deal with it» advice.

At age 12 I flew across the seas solo with the airline ladies accompanying me throughout each airport to my final destination Barcelona, Spain. My first stop was the London, Heathrow airport and boy was I excited when we landed. The airline stewardess promised me a big box of London’s greatest candies available for flying solo at a young age.
The airline stewardess did not disappoint this girl, I get some nice chocolates and a souvenir. So we arrive at the airport and I begin taking everything in and even though I didn’t have a chance to leave the airport, it was still nice seeing it for the first time. I got shown to my next gate for boarding to Spain.
The stewardess were so kind and sweet to me, I knew they were both British but they treated me like one of their own children at the time. I guess that’s the protocol when a child is flying solo and scared. Although they calmed this child and made her feel extra special as a solo flyer.
I’m hoping my next visit to this airport will be to actually meet my relatives since I have some family members who live near London.

Heathrow es la posta: Un aeropuerto realmente enorme, moderno y con la gigante ventaja de ser accesible. Sí, onda que si llegas o tenes que salir de Londres este lugar es ideal, ya que poder ir y venir de lo más bien en subte, lo cual hace que todo sea mucho más sencillo y económico.
Este lugar esta súper organizado a pesar de ser tan grande, ya que todo es de fácil acceso y sumamente accesible para la gran cantidad de viajeros que pasan por acá día a día, realmente da placer estar en un aeropuerto así.
Otras muy buenas ventajas de Heathrow es que tiene wi-​fi gratuito, distintos lugares para poder comer y/​o tomar algo, en tanto que los distintos free shop están bastante copados y tienen una buena variedad de cosas. En fin, si van a Londres hagan todo lo posible para tratar de llegar e irse por intermedio de este aeropuerto.

I’ve flown through Heathrow a good few times. Security is efficient and there are plenty of places to sit as well as places to eat.
No airport is tremendously interesting, in my experience. This one does well to give a sense of space but with lots of shops. I feel like airports should have large couch like areas where friends or a similar «tune out» half hour show can be on so people literally go there ti just flake. I’d absolutely pay in a nominal fee to pass the time!

I flew ten hours from Los Angeles, CA to Heathrow last winter. I had a little over a 5 hour stop at LHR on my way to Accra, Ghana in Western Africa.
Having been a Southern California resident for over twenty years, with LAX as my home airport, perhaps it may be that my expectations were rather high? Be that as it may, Heathrow Airport was close to nightmarish.
Heathrow Airport is damn near void of cafes, food stands, restaurants. My options to choose from were among two or three convenience stores with already prepared cold cut sandwiches loaded with an egregious amount of sodium as well as a mirage of sugar laden candies.
I must add, there was also a Starbucks, which most of the travels found refuge in, myself included.
Terrible, terrible, terrible.
While layovers during international flights are inevitable for most, ideally, this is not the airport you would like to spend the night at.

Poorly trained airport security staff. Takes up more time than any other airport I’ve been to (I thought JFK and LAX were bad…)
Searched almost every travelers bags around us without much cause to, forcing an even longer hold up because everyone had to repack their entire suitcase after security took literally everything out.
Two stars for being about average for cleanliness. Enough stores to buy gifts after security, but options aren’t great.
Travel through here may not be avoidable, so add more buffer room around your departure times.

Oh gosh the last time I was in Heathrow I just got the feeling it was huge, this time, I really experienced how big it is. This time instead of just leaving Heathrow and heading in London, I was catching connecting flights, so I didn’t have to worry about finding my luggage, just finding my way haha.
But again, I am left with a great impression, Heathrow has plenty of signs saying where to go, but also agents along the way to help with any questions or directions if you get lost. I had to hop on a few buses to travel from one terminal to another, and everything worked out perfectly.
There is so many places to grab a bit to eat, and plenty of shopping to do, even a Harrods shop within terminal 3, so even if you have a 3 hour layover, I am sure you can find plenty to do, its alike a mini world inside each terminal. I don’t know you, but sometimes it just nice to take your mind off the stress of traveling and get lost looking around.
Looking forward to my next time in Heathrow, wonder what I will discovery that time.

It is one of the largest airports around and yet it fails on so many levels for me. I had two stops at this airport on my trip; one on my way to my travel destination, and the other on my way back home.
Staff: They are quite friendly which earns them an extra star. The security are also quite friendly compared to some other airports and you get through quite quickly even if you have to do a full scan. As always, I suggest to just follow the staff instructions even if it’s a nuisance to you because they are just trying to do their job.
Airport: This place is a maze of confusion. It’s huge! Now, I can navigate places like this with ease, but if I had a short connection or my flight was delayed this place would screw me over. It also has a very dated system where the gate numbers aren’t revealed until closer to your boarding time. So you end up staring at the board waiting for your flight number to pop up. As you can imagine this can be a source of headaches when you’re in a rush. Also because it is big you have to have enough time to get to the gate. I literally had to day a plane, a train, and an automobile (shuttle) to get to my gate. It was ridiculous! Definitely make sure any connecting flights have a comfortable gap or else you could be rushing like a mad dog. Also another source of headache was their free Wi-​Fi. I can’t really complain when it’s suppose to be free but I would always have to restart my phone or find the direct link to get on. And the signal doesn’t reach the seating area in Terminal 5 which, to me, defeats the point of having it!
Shops: They boast a large selection of stores. Unfortunately, their website needs updating because I was looking for a store and it said it was not available at my Terminal (#5). So I made a detour to Terminal 3 to get a gift and when I got to Terminal 5, lo and behold, the store was there. Quite frustrating. The stores themselves are alright but their exchange rate is absurd compared to actual exchange rates, so it’s best if you already have sterling.
Overall, their staff are friendly but they need to update their system. Why do I have to stare at a screen for my gate number when most other airports can provide the gate number on your ticket? Also Wi-​Fi needs a lot of work.

For a large airport it has a good amount to offer as you’re waiting around bored for your flight. Security really takes longer than it should, but o’well… Duty free had lots of variety of sweets/​goodies that I could take home so I was happy about that. I would say that it’s a 3.5 star. The staffing is generally nice, most people know how to queue so it’s pretty orderly, and it’s big enough that you can walk around before your flight.

I come into London through this airport once a year. The last time I came into london I had a terrible encounter with a racist immigration officer. When I said «Good Afternoon» he ignored me and continued examining my passport. He then said «Where is your return ticket?» which I responded with «It’s on my phone, let me show you.» and he proceeded to tell me how horrible americans are and how they think they can get away with anything. Not a good experience. They need to teach their immigration officers how to interact with incoming travelers. There is no reason why people should be abused because of their home country.

Still a two star deal for me especially in light of the awful experience at terminal 3 and the reconstruction going on. Terminal 3 was the equivalent of sitting in and empty warehouse waiting for a flight. Hot, stuffy, and way out in the back forty. Everything here is either a 10 minute bus ride or a 20 minute walk (or both).
I completely will avoid Heathrow from this point forward.

Fast, quick and reliable.
This airport is very big, but they have a nice flow within it. Checkin procedure and safety is pretty efficient which gives you less hassle while here. A recent announcement was that Terminal 2 inhouse the best airport restaurant in the world.
One con is that flights easily can be a couple of minutes late. The air space is limited here since they have a lot of traffic going on all day around.

One star to the gentleman who was waiting at the gate for a handful of us on a flight from JFK with a short layover to connect at Heathrow before heading to Rome. He was the only positive thing about this dreadful airport.
It’s huge and dated and disorganized with not really any good options for food or even water in the terminals. We got delayed at CDG on our connection here on a British Airways flight to go back home to SFO. Honestly we were very surprised that British Airways or LHR (who’s to blame) did not have an escort waiting to help with those close connections. We were running through the gate after getting off the plane thinking we could make it to connecting flights through security until the lady who checked our passports and tickets told us the flight left without us and tried to get us on another flight. which happened to be to Seattle instead with a connecting flight to SFO after. She couldn’t even tell us the truth, she said we were guaranteed on the flight until we got pass security and checked in with British Airway’s customer service desk and they said we were on standby. And then finally some magic happened and we got on the flight but couldn’t be assigned to sit together.
Then at the gate we found out this flight’s been delayed several hours, so we would miss the original connecting flight that we were scheduled through their partner, Alaskan Airline. Our last hope was the last Alaskan flight leaving Seattle for SFO if we still made it with enough time from London. We kept trying to talk to a BA agent, and finally one showed up. It was like we weren’t even speaking english when we kept trying to ask them to change the connecting flight in Seattle. They kept telling us we needed to go all the way back to the reservation desk all the way around one of the furthest terminals. We kept explaining the whole ordeal we went through and that this was not a good way to end our honeymoon, and they kept saying that they couldn’t do anything, and I pleaded for them to please have some mercy and just call the damn desk. finally they did. I know that workers in the airline and public transit business here griefs all the time, but really, it should not have to get that bad, why can’t some just show a little more sympathy and customer service?
Oh London you left a bad taste in my mouth via LHR & British Airways. And to this day, I’m still not sure who to blame for our luggage making the flight from France to London to Seattle, but not making it to Seattle to SF. and being delayed about a day and a half later… but that’s for another Unilocal or two.

Alles in allem hat mir der Heathrow Airport gut gefallen. Zwar war es recht nervig, dass das Gate erst 10 Minuten vor Boarding-​Beginn bekannt gegeben wurde, aber dafür war alles andere top. Der Security-​Check war extrem schnell, kostenlose Wasserstationen standen an mehreren Orten und das gratis Wifi war wirklich klasse!

Connection flight: i DON’T appreciate walking long distance to stand in a long hallway waiting in line with luggage and backpack without seating at the Gate. The other issue is the Gate Number was announced at the last minute, so hanging out at the food court and without constantly checking the board, one could miss their flight.
This is not the first time here. The last time I don’t remember it being like this.
The food court area s huge and quite busy, a big open space of a good handful of shops and restaurants. There’s even a quiet family lounge here to escape the crowd but joined the crowd.

Wow. I really hated this place. Maybe I had just spent too many hours on a previous flight. Maybe I was stressed about my next one. I’m not certain if my mood has tainted my entire view of this airport, but I really don’t ever want to go back.
First of all, the terminals are insanely far from each other. A bus from one terminal to the next took over 15 minutes.
Second, I tried to get some assistance because I was running late and I received a nice orange card that supposedly expedites service. It doesn’t. People just stare.
Third, Security wasn’t just slow; it was like they didn’t actually care. They just kind of wandered around moving things in your bag and sorta typing things. I was perplexed.
I don’t really like flying in general, but man… this wasn’t a good experience.

If you are having a hard time to get enough cardio, consider flying in/​out/​thru Heathrow Airport because the amount of mandatory regardless of reason is insane! So far, I have never walked as much in any airport as I did in Heathrow. As a reference, I took 40 minutes from arrival to finish the customs — 35 minutes of which is walking from the gate to the customs.
As London’s biggest airport, Heathrow is also London’s main international gate especially if you are flying to or from the United States. While I cannot comment on other terminals, Terminal 2 involved so much walking, turning, and climbing to get to anywhere. This airport’s over-​spaciousness is certainly a far cry from the city’s compact nature.
I highly recommend traveling with light carry-​on luggage and allocate at least two hours for check-​in and layover.
That being said, Heathrow is also one of the cleanliest airports I have been, but my favorite part is the extreme efficiency and professionalism of the security checkpoints — something that US’s TSA should definitely learn. Unfortunately, despite the hassle-​less check-​in, Heathrow’s required walking will be a huge reason why I would try to avoid the airport as much as possible. The last thing I want to do after a long flight is some intense cardio.

TRANSPORTATION:
LHR is connected by two main rail services: the London Underground (aka the famous Tube subway) and the Heathrow Express/​Connect.
The connecting tube line is the Piccadilly Line, which runs through central London locations like Piccadilly Circus and the Covent Garden. The duration to reach from T2 to Kings Cross is about an hour at the cost of £6.9 on peak hours and £4 off-​peak. However, Piccadilly Line is one of London’s oldest and the train is the smallest I have rode on, so it can be a stressful ride if you are slightly taller.
Heathrow Express (HEX) is a more luxurious and faster option that reaches Paddington Station non-​stop in 15 minutes from T2 and 3. However, not only do you need to transfer to the tube if your destination isn’t Paddington, the cost can be as high as six times the tube price! But if you order online at least 30 days before, the cost is significantly lower and the 90-​day discount even makes it as cheap as the tube.
Heathrow Connect is a slower version of HEX with three stops in between, adding an additional 10 – 15 minutes.
Which one to take? If you can order in advance, go for the HEX. It may not be the smarter way as the slogan claimed, but it’s definitely the much more comfortable way.

Always busy! Even when you get in on a red eye. Fast moving for the most part.
Friendly staff. Better than average seating areas. Solid wifi. Good dining options and duty free. Their security lines move along better than most & who doesn’t love that!

Un énorme aéroport dont je né connais que le terminal 5 (en tout cas je né me rappelle plus des autres comme cela fait des annees)
Beaucoup de boutiques variés mais chers dans l ensemble et dans les lieux de restauration né pas oublier de compter les 10% de service qui n est pas forcément noter av l addition ;)
En tout cas beaucoup de services gratuits et pratiques pour les voyageurs comme les services informations à chaque étage avec une hôtesse qui vous aide même avec le Wi-​Fi Si si le service né marche pas sur votre téléphone.
Le Wi-​Fi donc partout gratuit et rapide et des zones où vous pouvez vous asseoir avec vos ordinateurs ou tout simplement brancher votre téléphone même si vous n avez pas la prise universelle. ;)
Par contre aucune hôtesse que ce soit du «centre commercial» qu est cette aéroport ou le personnel de british airways né parle français !!! En tout cas pas vu ;)

London Heathrow is probably one of my least favorite international airports for a number of reasons.
Heathrow is gigantic — In order to get from one terminal to another, you need to take a bus, and re-​do security checks at each terminal. So if you have a short connection time between flights that are at different terminals, you may miss your flight if you walk too slow or if your incoming flight is slightly delayed. This happened to me a few times, leaving me stranded for a few hours while I waited for a later flight.
London is notorious for bad weather, just like San Francisco. Both London and SF have can have bad fog conditions, so this can cause delays and in many cases, cancellations! A few weeks ago, I was flying from Denmark, transferring through London Heathrow– but unfortunately there was heavy fog that caused delays in every direction. End result? I had to lay over an extra night in Denmark, as I was rebooked and rerouted to another flight/​city the next day. The London fog definitely disrupted my travel plans.
Granted London Heathrow has its merits including great duty free shops and plenty of airport lounges. But honestly, in the past, I couldn’t really enjoy with all the flight delays I experienced, which definitely spoiled my travel experience.
If I could recommend any traveler visiting Europe but needing to connect onward to another city/​country, I would avoid London Heathrow airport and stick to other more weather-​reliable airports with better weather conditions such as Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Don’t let the fog get you as it got me.

Environment: The airport is clean and well maintained. Could be easier to navigate.
Service: Service could be a lot better. Lots of long lines!
Appearance: Clean, well maintained.
Overall: The airport is huge and not easy to navigate for an American. I missed 2 flights due to the train service to the airport. If I have to fly to London in the future, I’ll fly to another airport.

Flying out of here, Terminal 3 this time, was rather easy for the most part. Check in was quick and easy. The security line was manageable and the staff was quite friendly. There are several shopping options, including high end options. There are also a couple of decent food options.
My issue is with the gate process. Like many other European airports they assign the gate at the last minute. Consequently there is not a lot going on near the gates. This means you need to wait in the central hall area. This would not be so bad if it was not so obscenely overpacked. We did finally manage to find seats, but you will certainly want to minimize your time past security as mush as possible.
We did not fly into Heathrow, so I cannot speak to that end of the process. The departure process overall was fairly easy. Aside from the gate process I was happy with the airport.

This maybe one of the busiest airports in the world and efforts ‘may’ have been made to accommodate this traffic, but after flying in and out of it 3 times in the past 3 weeks I can confirm that it’s one of the worst to travel through — a true nightmare. While I can’t speak for its cross-​town airport counterpart (Gatwick) each of my experiences got progressively worse.
My biggest gripe? How slow this airport moves!
Check-​in: Compared to similar length line ups with similar number of staff working, Heathrow is slower… correction, way slower!
Security: A mess. They’ve got advanced tech with their bin replenishment system (it’s all automated and the bins get fed along a conveyor belt back to the front of the line continually) but the organization of the staff was awful, sending people in arbitrary longer lines when some lines were visibly shorter. Still moved at a good speed but stressful
Customs: AKA purgatory for non-​EU travelers. The line up here seems to never end (likely a symptom of this being a large airport) but come on! 45 min to get through? Egad! Thankfully each time we passed through the officials at the desk all had a dry witty humor that seemed to make the wait a little more worth while (try joking with customs in Toronto — no, but seriously DON’T).
Walking/​Size: Not for the weary, when a sign above your head tells you that your gate is 20 minutes away after you’ve sat through any of the above in combination, you do indeed want to ugly cry yourself to sleep.
How about the pros?
I’ll give them credit it’s a swanky looking airport, very modern in every way and clean from top to bottom.
Transfer between terminals is/​can be easy either with the Underground or free transfers using the luxurious Heathrow Express. It made moving between a terminal 5 arrival to a terminal 2 departure easy (read: easier following a 20 minute walk that involved 2 lifts, and 4 escalators)
Signage: This was the biggest pro, everything was clearly marked, labeling everywhere, signage abound left no room for second guessing yourself as you traverse this behemoth!
A necessary evil for travel in Europe but I definitely need a break before I can see LHR again!
Wings up!

This is nice airport if you have any of the following:
1. Comfortable shoes
2. A long layover
3. An obsession with Duty Free shopping
If you have a layover less than 2 hours, prepare to do some hustling. Between getting from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5, and using the Fast Track security lines, it took me over an hour before I reached the gate of my connecting flight. I had an extra hour to spare, so I wasn’t too worried, but would strongly advise against any layover less than 2 hours if you’re traveling outside of the E.U.
The British Airways Lounge in Terminal 5, B gates was phenomenal. Clean facilities, great food, attentive employees, and plenty of amenities. This was a pleasant introduction to LHR.

Verrückter Flughafen!
Die Gates werden erst 10 — 20 Minuten vor Abflug auf dem Monitor bekanntgegeben. Dadurch bleibt man natürlich möglichst lange da, wo die Geschäfte sind. Und das ist sicherlich Absicht.
Folglich schaut man eigentlich permanent auf diese Monitore. Nervig!

We came here twice for transferring flights.
On our way to Italy, security was really rough. Having already been on a long flight and then standing in the long security line, we were quite exhausted. So was everyone around us. –1 star for the disorganization of the security, while going to Italy. However, on our way back home, security was much more organized and quick.
I appreciate that this airport has plenty of clean restrooms, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Employees around the airport are friendly. The airport is clean and spacious.

Es un aeropuerto muy grande!!! Tiene varias terminales a mi me toco la numero 2, esta todo muy señalizado es muy fácil encontrar la zona donde despachan las valijas. Lo mas lerdo es el trámite de migración donde te preguntan de todo! Importante llevar confirmación de hoteles, pasajes de avión o trenes internos y vuelo de vuelta! De lo contrario corres riesgo que no te dejen entrar! Una vez pasado lo mejor es que en el subte lo tomas en el mismo aeropuerto y este llega a todo Londres! El aeropuerto ofrece bares, shops y restaurantes! Eso si es carísimo

Este aeropuerto es tremendamente grande. Posta, es como imposible de comparar el tamaño con otros.
Pero me pareció genial. Al menos mí terminal que era la 4 era super cómoda sinceramente.
Hice el drop off de valijas con muchiiiisima tranquilidad, no había casi nadie, después pasé por seguridad que tiene un sistema automático para tirar cosas extra en la valija que nunca había visto y después recorrí los free shops, restaurantes y vistas que la verdad había muchísima variedad.
Tampoco me parecieron muy caros los restaurantes. Podías tomar un café y un sandwich por 7 pounds. Que básicamente es lo mismo que en la ciudad. También había más restaurantes más modernos y completos y temáticos! Hay varios hasta famosos como de Gordon Ramsey.
En las gates hay enchufes para celulares y compus. Hay wifi libre y ventanales ENORMES para ver a los aviones y las pistas. Hasta hay un sector que podés subir 2 pisos para ver todo el aeropuerto desde un parador 360. Tremendo.
Also, el subte que te lleva de terminal a terminal. Tremendo. GIgante. Te podés perder MAL.

Si estás aterrizando, te toca lo más fácil: compra tu Oyster y llega a cualquier parte de Londres con el acceso directo al underground. Pero si llegas a tomar un avión, ojo piojo. Chequea muy bien tu vuelo antes subirte a un bus o metro que vaya al aeropuerto, pues hay mucha distancia entre las 5 terminales de Heathrow y, si te equivocas, te será muy difícil corregir camino.
Es un aeropuerto grande, se requiere buenas caminatas, pero es muy limpio y perfectamente bien señalizado para el extranjero. ¿Lo mejor de todo? Te regalan CUATRO horas de wifi gratis. Como para sentirse en el primer mundo.

Ein großer Flughafen. Lange Laufwege (oder allgemein lange Wege) — vom Rollfeld bis zur Passkontrolle bzw. vom Checkin bis zum Gate geht man bestimmt jeweils gut 5 Minuten. Und es gibt überall verteilt im öffentlichen Bereich ein paar kostenlose Steckdosen.
Auf jeden Fall erfüllt der Flughafen seinen Zweck.
Mit der Tube ist man in unter einer Stunde in London (und das recht günstig), was auch nett ist.

Erster Flughafen mit dem ich damals zu tun hatte. War gleich begeistert. Gut ausgeschildert. Sehr schöné Ruhezone und tolle Geschäfte sowohl vor als auch im Check-​In-​Bereich.

Últimamente frecuento muchos más aeropuertos de todos los que he visitado en toda la etapa anterior de mi vida y, con diferencia, el del Heathrow es uno de los más completos que me he encontrado.
Partiendo de la base de que te dan 45 mins de WiFi gratis, y no 15 como en muchos otros aeropuertos, comenzamos a ser conscientes de que aquí las cosas funcionan a otro nivel. Porque es un aeropuerto internacional de lo más importantes del mundo, saben que aquí se hacen muchos transbordos entre vuelos y que la mayoría somos gente de fuera que necesitamos una conexión para comprobar nuestros vuelos o informar a la familia de que todo va bien.
Las terminales son interminables y ofrece todo tipo de servicios al pasajero desde que se pasa el control de acceso de seguridad. Constantemente informados por la multitud de pantallas sobre los vuelos, todo bien señalizado en varios idiomas para que no haya pérdidas, una cantidad de tiendas absolutamente abrumadora y un servicio cinco estrellas para un aeropuerto cinco estrellas que no está entre los mejores del mundo por casualidad.

Localisé dans la banlieue ouest de la capitale anglaise, le London Heathrow est l’un des aéroports internationaux au plus grand trafic et celui ci est en perpétuelle augmentation.
Seconde escale à Londres, surprise des sensations ressentis lors d’une première montée en avion. En sortant, nous n’avons eu aucune difficulté notoire à se diriger. Le changement du langage n’est pas un souci si on maitrise un minimum les bases, tout est facile de compréhension.
Depuis les terminaux 1 à 5, La liaison avec le centre ville est direct par le biais d’une ligne de métro en l’occurence la Piccadilly Line. Accès plus rapide avec le train de l’Heathrow Express mais un peu plus chère aussi forcément. Autrement comme partout, Autobus et voitures font bien évidemment partis des moyens de transports utilisables.

Für unsere Reise von Hamburg nach Florida haben wir uns als Umsteige-​Flughafen London Heathrow ausgewählt. Ein wirklich riesiger Flughafen.
Dieser Flughafen glänzt durch mehrere Superlativen:
— Er ist der größte der fünf internationalen Flughäfen der britischen Hauptstadt
— Er ist mit über 69 Millionen Passagieren im Jahr 2011 der größte Flughafen Europas
— Er ist der drittgrößte Flughafen auf der Welt
— Er wird von rund 100 Fluggesellschaften angeflogen
— Es wird jeder Kontinent und fast jede Region auf der Erde angeflogen
Darüber hinaus werden die Terminals mit unterirdischen Bahnen verbunden, die wir auch für den Umstieg nutzen konnten. In unserem modernen Terminal hatten wir bei besten Sonnenschein einen schönen Blick auf die Jumbos und auf die startenden Flugzeuge.
Für den Umstieg sollte man aufgrund der Weitläufigkeit genügend Pufferzeit einplanen, das schont das Nervenkostüm. Die Dimensionen dieses Flughafens sind schon sehr beachtlich.
Wir hatten auf unserem Rückflug sehr große Probleme die Maschine nach Hamburg zu erwischen. Bei meiner Frau wurde die Handtasche per Hand sehr gewissenhaft nach Sprengstoff geprüft. Hier hatte es wirklich keiner eilig. Jedes Teil vom Lippenstift bis zum Handy wurde mit einem Pinsel untersucht. Dabei sieht meine Frau gar nicht so gefährlich aus.

Der Airport London Heathrow ist extrem groß, aber hervorragend ausgeschildert. Eigentlich kann man sich hier kaum verlaufen.
Das Shopping und Verzehrangebot in den Terminals (ich kenne Terminal 5 vom letzten Jahr und aktuell Terminal 3) ist umfangreich, die Preise flughafentypisch.
Der einzige Wermutstropfen für mich ist, dass es auf dem gesamten Airport keine Raucherlounge gibt. Wenn man 4 Stunden auf den Anschlussflug wartet, welcher dann auch nochmal 6 Std. dauert, ist das eine harte Prüfung für jeden Raucher!!! ;-)

Ich finde den Flughafen in London einfach chaotisch. Gates werden erst ganz kurz vor dem Flug zugeteilt — die Sitzgelegenheiten sind unbequem — lediglich das große Schoppingangebot sind positiv zu bewerten.

Je me sens toujours un peu perdue dans cet aéroport, même si j’y suis souvent et côté bouff ou endroit où se poser avant le vol ce n’est pas super non plus.
Le wifi est gratuit pour 45 minutes, ce qui aide à passer le temps. J’étais déçue de leur sélection de boutiques, je n’aurais pas dit non à acheter un bouquin tant sur la région qu’un roman.

Ich versuche immer, Heathrow zu umgehen, auch wenns der direkte Weg in die USA ist, weiche ich lieber nach Deutschland oder Zürich aus. Letztes Wochenende habe ich mir die Frage gestellt, warum ich das eigentlich mache, denn Heathrow ist ein hervorragend organisierter Flughafen. Besonders toll finde ich die Beschilderung, man findet sofort alles, vom Checkin Schalter bis zum Gate und muss nicht wie auf anderen Flughäfen erst ewig rumrennen. Das Gastroangebot ist sensationell und außerdem ist Heathrow der erste Flughafen den ich kenne, wo man auch nach dem Security Check noch zu normalen Preisen essen kann, normalerweise kostet das ja dann immer das Doppelte. Fantastisch ist natürlich auch die direkt U-​Bahnanbindung, durch die man sehr günstig in die Stadt kommt. Spendierfreudige nehmen den Heathrow Express, der das ganze auch noch sehr schnell hinbekommt.

Riesen Flughafen. Wer sich nicht auskennt, muss genau lesen. Ansonsten sauber und ordentlich. Immer eine Reise Wert.

3 Tube-​Stationen für 1 Flughafen? Krass oder?
Dieser Flughafen ist riesengross und ich bin immer wieder beeindruckt. Man kann sich hier super die Zeit vertreiben und kommt von hier aus so ziemlich überallhin in der Welt.
Dafür dass der Flughafen so gross ist, könnte er jedoch etwas besser organisiert sein, damit man nicht Ewigkeiten braucht, bis man endlich beim Gate ist. In Zürich klappt das ja auch mit dem kleinen Bähnchen und so weiter.

London Heathrow ist schon ein gewaltiger Flughafen! Großstadtflughafen und Tor zur Welt Londons eben.
Ich hab ihn sehr unübersichtlich erlebt, teilweise nicht so optimal ausgeschildert, aber vielleicht hab ich’s auch nur nicht gecheckt…

J’ai atterri dans cet aéroport deux fois en 6 mois d’intervalles pour des escales.
J’ai toujours su que c’était le plus grand aéroport d’Europe donc je me suis dis que niveau organisation et indications, les voyageurs né seront pas confus ou se repèreront facilement. Eh bien détrompez vous… je trouve que par rapport a la taille de l’aéroport il n’y pas suffisamment d’indication.
Niveau confort… c’est pas si top que ça surtout quand on fait une escale de plus de 5 heures. Pas assez de sièges du coup on opte au système D (si on n’a pas faim pour s’installer dans un restaurant/​brasserie)… le sol ! Je dois aussi rajouter que l’internet est payant… franchement je trouve cela outrageant que l’on doit toujours payer pour avoir accès à l’internet. D’autres aéroports comme celui de Vienne propose la wifi gratuite alors qu’il accueille beaucoup de passages en transit, pas autant mais voilà quoi.
Ce que j’ai apprécié… c’est la rapidité de la file d’attente quand on passé les rayons X. Pas plus de 5 min et d’ailleurs tous les «booths» sont ouverts.
On aussi la possibilité de payer en euros ou en US dollars si on a pas de monnaie british sur soi, ce qui permet de né payer de commission au Travalex qui est aussi présent à l’aéroport.

Es ist ein Flughafen. Durchschnittlich gut strukturiert und gut angebunden. Würden die Züge noch ordentlich fahren wäre er besser.

Ist schon ganz schön groß und verwirrend. Lange Wege ohne Laufband.
Dafür aber viele nette Leute die einem weiter helfen.
Die automatische Einreise mit Ausweis-​Scan hat schon was wenn man dafür nicht in der Schlange stehen muß :-)
Und kostenloses Handy aufladen wenn man den Boardingpass nur auf dem Handy hat und nicht auf Papier ist auch Gold Wert. Man muß halt nur schauen ob eine der freien Dosen nicht von einem Kind mit Spielkonsole belegt ist ;-)
Rundrum ein etwas in die Jahre gekommender Flughafen der aber dennoch alles bietet was man braucht.

Naja, es ist der grösste Flughafen Europas. Wie kann man solche Massen von Fluggästen bewältigen und doch nicht alle fünf Jahre das Ding wieder komplett abreissen und neu bauen es geht nicht ! insofern fand ich jetzt als einfach Ankommender die Erfahrung O.K., allerdings sollte diese Insel endlich dem Schengener Abkommen beitreten damit diese US-​gleichen Einreise-​Prozeduren wegfallen. Bis dahin ging es immer wieder in Zickzack-​Gängen zum nächsten Teilziel LHR fordert mobility on feed. Einmal draussen kann ich mich zumindest an der drop area des Terminals 1 gut aufpicken lassen, fand es jetzt nicht so schlimm, wie es manche Reisenden hier beschrieben.

Muss das dann doch um einen Stern upgraden trotz der Grösse des Flughafen sind die Wege gar nicht so furchtbar lang und ich fand es ok. Die Sicherheitschecks sind gewaltig, aber dafür geht es ja auch um Sicherheit.

Je suis passé par cet aéroport pour aller au Farnborough air show et je suis content de n’avoir fait que passer. J’ai trouvé le lieu trop important et moyennement organisé. C’est une plate forme importante donc cela né me surprend pas.
Coté indication je pense que pour la taille du lieu c’est un peu limité. Lors de mon passage le lieu était propre et j’ai vu pas mal de personne de la sécurité et de l’administration donc je pense qu’en cas de souci vous trouverez des conseils.

Was für ein Spaß als in der Zeitung von dem Mißgeschick mit der Gepäckbeförderungsanlage beim Start des neuen Flughafengebäudes zu lesen war (da ahnte man noch nichts von den Mißgeschicken in Schönefeld).
Kurz darauf nutzten wir Heathrow. Ohne Gepäck nur Handgepäck.
Uns kam es vor wie ein viel zu großer Bau für so wenige Menschen. Wir liefen durch Gänge und Hallen, die nur für uns gebaut zu sein schienen. Es war ein guter Tag und eine gute Stunde offenbar.
Alles Neue glänzt ersteinmal und beeindruckt. Uns auf jeden Fall.
Vor allem praktisch für Wochenendbesucher: Mit der U-​Bahn waren im nu bei den Touristenmagneten der Stadt und genossen London, ohne weiter an den Flughafen zu denken. Und das ist für einen Zweckgegenstand doch ein schönes Lob.

Principal aeropuerto tanto de entrada como de salida de Inglaterra y de Gran Bretaña. Tiene cuatro terminales. Aunque está conectado por metro y autobús el viaje puede hacerse muy largo. Existe otra posibilidad más cara que es coger el tren Heathrow Connect en la estación de tren de Paddington

Desde aquí despegue a la ciudad de México y todo fue mejor que pensado. No me quedo mucho tiempo entre los dos vuelos, pero logre comprar postales, escribirlas y mandarlas gracias al buen servicio. Tienen buenas tiendas (estaba en el terminal 5) y todo esta muy organizado. Aunque dicen que es uno de los peores aeropuertos a mi me encanto.

No es de extrañar que Londres tenga varios aeropuertos.
El aeropuerto de Heathrow es el más grande con diferencia de la ciudad. Quizá excesivamente grande, o, al menos, la forma en que está organizado todavía parece que lo sea incluso más.
El trayecto entre terminales se hace eterno e, incluso, dentro de una terminal, entre diferentes zonas a través de su monorraíl.
Un aeropuerto lejano al cual tienes que echarle muchas horas para el día de salida, donde lo de 2 horas antes no basta, sino que, por si acaso, sal de casa incluso 3 horas antes de la salida del vuelo.

Nach vielen, vielen Jahren war ich mal wieder in Heathrow von der U-​Bahn bis zum Gate, es sind lange, lange Wege, aber es klappte überall ohne Probleme der Check-​In, der Security-​Check und später das Boarding. Die Beschilderung überall stimmte 100%-ig. Es ist schon eine Stadt für sich und jeder Reisende sollte unbedingt viel Zeit mitbringen.
Und für Gehbehinderte empfiehlt es sich beim Check-​In unbedingt nach einer Assistenz zu fragen.
Das Personal an vielen Stellen des Airports war höflich, freundlich und hilfsbereit sehr service-​orientiert.

Heathrow ist wohl stark ins Altern gekommen. Alles wirkt heruntergetreten und abgelaufen. Kommt von der Passkontrolle und muss dann bis zu Mitte der Gepäckbänder laufen und festzustellen welchen für welchen Flug ist finde ich nicht logisch Die Toiletten sind sage ich mal nett auch stark vernutzt.
Das ist keine Freude hier zu landen alles ander war ok.

Durch einen mehrjährigen Englandaufenthalt bin ich von hier aus bestimmt 2mal im Monat nach Frankfurt geflogen. Es gibt 5 Terminals, der 5. ist seperat, bei weitem der optisch Eindrucksvollste und für British Airways reserviert. Erreichen kann man den Flughafen von London aus mit dem Coach (Bus), dem Taxi/​Auto und die günstigste Variante direkt mit der Piccadilly-​Line, also der Underground (U-​Bahn).
Geschäfte sind nicht übermäßig viele vertreten, aber eine gute Mischung. An Terminal 3 zum Beispiel, kann ich Giraffe sehr zum Essen empfehlen, ist auch nicht soooo teuer. Bei Terminal 5 ist Wagamama’s ein muss.

Le plus grand aéroport de Londres et le meilleur selon moi. Facile d’accès et bien desservi.

Grace aux transports, il est facile d’accès. Par contre je trouve que les billets pour le centre de Londres sont un peu cher!

Nur der relativ neue BA Terminal verbindet für mich gute Eigenschaften eines Gebäudes mit den Bedürfnissen eines Reisenden. Definitiv gehört der Flughafen zu den Schuhsohlen Killern unter den Europäischen Flughäfen.
Wann immer ich kann, vermeide ich den als Zwischenstop.

Très bien desservi, il est facile de s’y repérer.

Aéroport chaotique et mal organisé. C’est le «concurrent de CDG» mais je préfère quand même Heathrow pour une raison bien simple: il y a un train express (pas donné mais il existe) qui relie l’aéroport au centre ville de Londres. Ce qui met en KO CDG! Et Heathrow n’a pas non plus le fameux Terminal 1 qui est une honte pour notre pays!

On critique régulièrement les américains pour leur psychose et CDG pour sa vétusté, pourtant c’est bien Heathrow qui m’a le plus tapé sur les nerfs, durant un trajet vers Denver en 2008. Énorme aéroport (1er d’Europe, au coude à coude avec CDG) et complètement déstructuré, il faut en effet utiliser des navettes pour passer entre les bâtiments!, comme au «bon vieux temps» à CDG, sauf que là les bâtiments né sont pas inter-​connectés comme à Paris, c’est donc infernal…
La sécurité (en 2008 du moins) y est poussée à la psychose… bien plus qu’à Newark, Atlanta, Denver ou LAX (à mon expérience du moins, 1 an après une vague de tentatives d’attentats).
Mauvaise expérience donc en ces lieux, surtout que je suis passé par le nouveau terminal (en 2008), fort beau je dois l’admettre, mais qui a généré d’énormes dysfonctionnements pendant plusieurs mois, résultant en des queues monstrueuses, dignes des pires aéroports du monde… J’étais heureux de retrouver la pagaille organisée de CDG…

Il est tres facile de s y rendre par le metro depuis le centre ville vous pouvez meme rejoindre directement la gare de l eurostar, et le terminal 5 fonctionne enfin.
Il y a de nombreuses navettes qui vous conduiront dans differents hotels mais elles sont payante.
Si vous n avez pas peur des bus classiques anglais le reseaux est bcp moins cher!
L aeroport est assez peu equipé pour se nourrir.
