Some fantastic real cask ales on offer here that I’ve never tried before. Merlin’s Oak is definitely one to check out but they have plenty of guest ales on depending on the seasons.
Its quite a popular place for live bands so do check the website to see whats coming up. There’s plenty of space in here to escape the crowds if so desired.
Only pizza is on offer here for food or filled rolls but the pizzas are really nice. The spicy meatball one is great.

This is one of the best Real Ale pubs in the area, and there will always be at least 4, and usually up to 8 or 9 different, non-​Badger, brews on tap. Recently the Malt Shovel has become one of the premier live music venues in the Horsham area, with live music at least two or three times a week, including every Friday and Saturday night (unless there’s an England Rugby match on TV).
With good food, friendly staff, and a pretty welcoming clientele, this pub deserves its regular place in the Good Beer Guide.
