My burger was delicious and the presentation was amazing. It also came out pretty quickly. Only let down were the fries which were cooked perfectly but smothered in enough salt to make them inedible, and the brioche– taken literally burger bun which was too sweet, soft and buttery for this burger(this was not a biggie though– I ate it aalll!) I was really disappointed not to get the mojito I ordered because«it wasn’t the time for them». There was no time specified on the menu and it was 7.30 on a Friday night. I don’t know what the real reason was(maybe short staffed and didn’t have time to grind ice manually? Out of mint?) I can understand those reasons but hopefully it’s not that they just don’t know how to make them because that’s ridiculous. The server also mistook my veg burger for a steak burger and looked annoyed with US when she was trying to find out who they were for. Small mistake, but know what food you are carrying and don’t get annoyed with the guest when you’ve got it wrong. I’ll be back though– I don’t like complaining, but I’m mentioning these things that really got to me in the hope that someone there reads them and fixes the can’t-do attitude. Because they seriously downed my first visit here. The food saved the day.

A large open plan pub, mock traditional !!! The usual sports televisions and a lack of atmosphere. Plenty of wood and comfortable seating. Does do real ale but its the usual major brewers dumbed down stuff that any one with taste avoids.

The George Abbott is one of those pubs that ends up so heaving on a Friday and Saturday night that there is barely standing room, and they do resort to a one-in, one-out if need be. It’s up to you whether you like that sort of thing! If you can get in early and grab yourself a table it can make for a great atmosphere, if you are standing and having your arm knocked and having to shout above the noise, maybe not to much! During the day it is quiet and a nice place to hang out. It’s in a good spot near the river, near the centre of town, and there is car parking outside — but this also fills up really early on.

This more traditional pub in Guildford is always a good bet and has a large selection of beers(though I’m not a beer expert so will move on!) It’s situated away from the glaring strip off pubs where Weatherspoons, Bar Med and Mambos are and is a welcome relief from all he drunks falling into the road. Service is always friendly and efficient and it’s a nice place for a few quiet drinks with friends. Not the best view of Guildford as it looks out over the car park but its nice enough inside. Prices cheaper than the swanky bars as well.
