Norfolk Arms

I have stayed in hotels all over UK and US and can say without a doubt the staff is Brilliant here! It is a smaller hotel with attentive staff and management. I ate in the dining room both breakfast and dinner and can tell you it is a smashing place to eat. The pub is hoping all the time in the evening but the rooms upstairs are not bothered with the noise. The only suggestion I have is Wi-​Fi in the rooms to make it easier for business travelers to stay connected. IF you get a chance to spend time in Glossop that alone is worth the price of a room here. Staying here makes you feel like you are at home with friends. Thanks to all the staff and management for a GRAND time in Glossop. This will be my home away from home when in Glossop in the future.

The Norfolk Arms doesn’t live up to the impression you first get when you see it on the square — such a huge building, such expectations. You think to yourself this MUST be where all the action goes on, the Norfolk Arms.
It has been refurbished and whilst this gives it a cleaner, lighter more modern feel you do get the feeling that perhaps it would have more character, more atmosphere if they had simply restored the original layour and interior. Some regulars are reported to have not been too keen on the change and fair enough, people groan about any kind of change, but they may have been right.
The prices are cheap, though, at this Holt’s pub which does attract some young uns although not as many as you might expect. It is not exactly noisy teen central in here.
During the day it is fairly peaceful, serving food and it even has wi-​fi. How thoroughly modern. But I really can’t see myself choosing this pub over others.
