We pitched up here with a tired and irritable two year old and a baby who wanted to feed RIGHTNOW so it was a delight to have the toddling monster completely engrossed in the available playthings for half an hour. They even coped admirably when he decided their window display was also a toy! Once we’d ordered coffee and cakes they were brought to us so I was able to start feeding thing 2 immediately, which did wonders for the noise level in my life. Everything we bought was tasty but the Guinness cake was outstanding — I had expected it to be named only for it’s colours but it really did taste deliciously of Guinness — it’s worth a trip to this shop just for that! The only down side was that they did not have ANY of the three things I actually came in to buy! No knitting needles in the size I wanted(but plenty of other sizes), no green yarn in the right shade(but several other nice green yarns, one of which I bought for a different project) and no toy stuffing for knitted toys(none at all). So we arrived to shop but stayed for coffee and cake and we’d happily go back for more of the same…

Hats off to you guys… it’s bloody cold, dark and the small child is distinctly not pleased about spending anything at all in the buggy… Mother and Father are looking as well as feeling that little bit worn out and the morning caffeine jolt is giving way to the late afternoon ‘cobweb’ feel…‘what SHALL we do’ they cry in an over dramatical fashion. Hark, does thou gander a store of coffee selling, kid friendliness? Aye, that one… yeah that one Two coffees, one babycinno and a feck off slice of home made Guinness cake(you heard) for a shade under £8…mmmmm, that’s cosy. I’m starting to really like this place. It’s friendly, Voni, the owner is super nice, the staff are similarly cheer-tastic and the coffee has caffeine in it… score! Have a child? Looking for somewhere to plank your worn out ass for 5 mins and not have to worry about aforementioned child? Go here.
