I had quit a good diner for not that much. First time for me here. The spring rolls are good, I am just desapointed there is no sauce with it. Chicken noodle soup is quit good too. The only thing that I didnt like was that the ladie gave everyone a bag if chips as gift and not me… Maybe because I have a small takeaway… But anyway it would have been nice to ace a small bag of chips.

The Lemon Tree is my go-to place for a Chinese takeaway, because the food is delicious! I normally order the garlic and honey chicken, with a portion of salt and chilli chips. The salt and chilli chips are by far and away the best I have tried in the whole of Glasgow. They’re always well-cooked with ample seasoning — make sure you have a glass of water on hand if the spice gets too much, as they are quite nippy! The garlic and honey chicken is also delicious and comes with lots of sauce and veg. My other half always get sweet and sour chicken in batter, which is not my thing but he really rates it! You get a good portion of rice, the curry sauce is great. If you spend a certain amount you get free prawn crackers, which are very moreish. I would also recommend the vegetable spring rolls and the salt and chilli chicken wings. Basically their salt and chilli seasoning is incredible. The only thing stopping this being a 5-star review is the length of time it takes to deliver. The last time I ordered from the Lemon Tree it took TWOHOURS to arrive, which is pretty unacceptable. On average, it probably takes about an hour for delivery — so either order well in advance if you’re hungry, or consider collecting your order.

The Lemon Tree is pretty much right around the corner from my flat, so when my friends and I decided to order a Chinese, this seemed like the most convenient place to order from, but in hindsight, I wish I’d walked a little bit further down the road and got it from Kaka Lok. It’s not that the food was bad, but having had some pretty fantastic Chinese meals over the past few months, I knew it was going to be tough to beat. We ordered a crispy shredded chicken, salt and chilli squid, and the ‘Special Duck’ which was duck cooked in a sort-of satay sauce with stir friend vegetables. On the side we decided to order a large portion of fried rice and some salt and chilli fries. We spent over £30 which meant we got a free portion of mini spring rolls and a fortune cookie each, so there was plenty of food to go between three of us! The crispy shredded chicken was alright, but unlike the crispy shredded chicken I’ve had from the Chinese my parents go to back home, it was in this thick, syrupy, sweet and sour sauce which all crispy shredded chicken in Glasgow seemed to come in, and I do not like it. The squid had a good level of salt and chilli, but being takeaway, it had lost it’s crispness, which is what really adds to it. The special duck, my friend absolutely loved, claiming it combined the flavour of satay and a typical Chinese curry. The winner for me were the salt and chilli fries — they were so moreish! I could have eaten the whole bag but I had to fight for them. The mini spring rolls were tasty but one of the things I liked about ordering from them was they are one of the few Chinese takeaways who actually give you a fortune cookie! I love these little novelties, although I have to say the fortune inside was more of a statement than a prediction! If I’m perfectly honest, I don’t think I would rush back to the Lemon Tree. When there are restaurants like Kaka Lok and Sichaun House just a stones throw away, it doesn’t really stand a chance.

Used to walk past this place for years, then finally one day went in. Been going back ever since. Best thai in the west end… what more to say.

So, despite me loving the food here, I’m gonna give this place a 3 because the staff are pretty inconsistent with their friendliness. The first time I went was after yoga and I was starving. It was about 8pm and it was super busy! With people waiting and going in and out of the takeout area. I assume that the food would be awesome if they have so many customers almost all the time. The food is yes, AWESOME. Fried rice is very generous in portion, the Spicy Honey and Lime Chicken is my absolute favourite thing in the world wow. My partner has tried both the Mongolian Prawns(which reminds me a lot of the taste of a street food dish in Malaysia called Rojak) and the Salted Chilli Prawns(which really packs a punch and is super savoury and yum!). Everything we’ve had were delicious! They even give free prawn crackers, which is a plus. The only thing I don’t like is the lack of friendliness of the man at the counter. I’ve encountered 2 staff members, 1 bald man and 1 woman. These 2 both play favourites when it comes to customers cause when they see people they know, they’re extra kind. But when new customers come in, they don’t really give a shit and will be pretty blunt with you. My experience with the bald man was underwhelming to say the least. He didn’t give us any eye contact and wasn’t very welcoming. He wasn’t rude or anything but he was just, aggressive? I dunno. The woman on the other hand seemed to like me and my partner, so she was chirpy and smiley. I suppose depends on your luck, and whether or not they will like you solely on how you look? Who knows … Will still go back for takeout though. I’m pretty glad they only do takeaway food cause I couldn’t imagine how they’d be like if they served people at a restaurant haha

Now its important to remember, that just because you can’t sit in and enjoy and a full dining experience at takeaways, they still deserve a review for the service they provide! this takeaway is about as close to my bf’s flat as you can get(on great western road) so is the obvious choice if ever we are dying for some hangover scran or just too lazy to cook. anyway this is probably my favourite takeaway in the west end, simply because it reminds me so much of my local takeaway back home in the south of england, I can order the same dishes and they are just the same but about half the price — WINNING so as well as being super value for money its also one of the speediest takeaways I know. with our last collection being ready in 5… yes 5 minutes! and delivery, because once we were even that lazy we couldnt walk 2 minutes, and even that took less than 10 mins to be delivered! my favourite dishes have to be the salt and chili/pepper squid — the portion size is huge and nice and crispy, but pretty much every dish ive had from there has not disappointed. so if you live in the west end and need a SUPER fast good value chinese then look no further. amen to the lemon tree

If I think too long and hard about getting a Chinese, the ‘healthy’ voices in my head will have a chance to get involved in the decision making process and deny me that joy. That’s one of the things unlike about Lemon Tree… super fast! I typically call in and go pick it up and have never waited more than 5 minutes after arriving. Friendly service, They have some unique dishes(Wonderful Chicken… the name says it all), the portion sizes are just right, and so far my experience has been nothing but tasty! At the moment, it’s definitely my go to spot for Chinese takeaway.

Generally very good food. Sadly the restaurant isn’t open any longer. The staff are always polite and kind. Portions are medium sized but packed with flavour? I usually phone my order in then come to collect it. The kitchen looks clean and always very popular with west end locals.

After a long day working, on my day off may I add with my man, we decided a Chinese would be a rescue-tastic idea. He suggested The Lemon Tree, which I’ve never tried, as he had something from them the other week. We managed to get a parking space nearby and went into the take away. I remember when The Lemon Tree used to have a restaurant but it’s been shut now for years. I remember one time when Ian and I were heading back from town and thought about dinning in there but alas the restaurant was shut, at the time I presumed it was being renovated, this was probably a couple of years ago now. Either it’s a long renovation or they don’t use it. I don’t know why they keep the restaurant if it’s lying closed. Weird! Disappointingly they do not have spare ribs, I do like them ribs so instead we settled for spring rolls. There was many flavours of chicken wings, but then we wanted a chicken meal, that’s a lot of chicken. Oooft! We settled for something a little different for the two of us and had the honey shredded chicken with fried rice. It was absolutely delicious, munched along with really crispy and tasty prawn crackers. I felt it just wasn’t saucey enough for me. Steady! It wasn’t too pricey and was a £5 each. They weren’t long and the staff were efficient. I would like to try some of their duck dishes next time and the«Wonderful Sauce» did sound intriguing.

LOVE the Lemon Tree. Can’t praise this establishment enough. Every time we order we always receive a prompt service. Ordered only a few nights ago and the food arrived within 15 minutes?! Service really is second to none and the food is always delicious and hot. Would never think of using any other chinese takeaway other than The Lemon Tree. *****

A slightly ropey Chinese at the edge of the West End, the Lemon Tree dishes up fairly passable if unimaginative food. With meat of questionable origin drenched in a suger loaded packet sauce, it’s pretty much the same as most Chinese takeaways, and like most you’ll probably spend a good portion of the next day on the toilet, splattering the bowl with a foul smelling rusty brown deluge. Pretty standard stuff, but Asia Style is just round the corner so it’s tough to recommend.

Yum. Do i like the Lemon Tree? Yes, Yes i do. As i’m writing this review i’m already fantasising about the shredded crispy beef in the nice sweet sauce… crap i just dribbled on my keyboard. Now i think its important to make a distinction here. As far as the Lemon tree goes its main business is without doubt done on the takeaway side, which is slightly odd as they have a pretty nice dining area. I think they most definitely suffer from there location and quite possible from the close proximity of Asia Style(one of the best if not thee best place to eat Asian cuisine in Glasgow), just round the corner. There is no doubt that lemon Tree is part of the old school brigade of Chinese grub. With the recent surge in new authentic style Asian restaurants(Wudon, Waga Mamma etc) the older style restaurants appear to be losing some of the business on the dining in side of the market. But hey, with the amount of business this place is doing on the takeaway side i don’t think they are that bothered. Trust me, if your hankering for a Chinese takeaway then this place is totally dependable in quality, quantity and quilting(i couldn’t think of another Q that was relevant). Plus, you can also order online using the just-eat website, very handy.

I’ve only ever really had takeaways from here which have always been good. What draws me here though is the superbly named ‘wonderful sauce’!!! I would agree it’s wonderful, but not too sure where the origin of this dish comes from? If you like satay you’ll like this!

I have had a few take-aways from The Lemon Tree and can confirm that the restaurant sees little use and I’m not really sure why as the room is quite nice as you can see from the photo posted. I always go for the Szechuan Duck which is amazing. The noodles are quite good as well, delivery is usually quite sharpish, sometimes you will wait a little longer at weekends. Reasonable well priced, I think the food is pretty good as is the service, they usually through in free prawn crackers too. The menu has all the usual suspects as well as a specialties section featuring some interesting additions such as mango roast chicken and salt and chilli squid. I think all things considered this a good take away.

The Lemon Tree looks great from the outside — I think it’s just been done up. It’s a pretty run-of-the mill Chinese though. The food is above average, the prices are below average. The restaurant area seems to be quite big, but we’ve only ever got takeout. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone sittingin, but then we only go later on at night or in the early evening when there wouldn’t be many sit-in diners anyway. It’s good but not the best.
