First visit to this establishment. Sadly the service was not up to scratch– over an hour wait for our mains which, when they arrived, were practically inedible. The fish in particular was like a piece of rubber, the meat dried out, 70 percent of the dishes were cold and dried up. The excuse was that«this is a busy night» but this was when many of the tables were empty. Complaints not taken seriously and downright rude. Won’t be back, will stick to my usual curry houses in future.

not the worst meal I’ve ever had, but definitely not worth it when mother India café is around the corner. fast food disguised in a room swathed in pier 1 imports. downright bad drinks and slow service. if you like Indian food, steer clear.

The Curry Leaf sits at the bottom of one of the ugliest buildings on Byres road, made uglier by the fact it’s surrounded by big, airy sandstone tenements. Saying that, the interior is nice enough, although it seems to be more catalogue trendy rather than traditional or unique. It’s adequate but sadly lacks its own personality. The same, unfortunately, could be said about the food. As the good lady and gent below have suggested, this Indian restaurant has set up camp in an area where competition is fierce. With The Curry Leaf going up against Indian cuisine tycoon Ashoka, and(in my opinion) the good King Balbirs(even just typing«Balbirs» makes me salivate) this place really has to step up the mark in order to compete. For the price, the food was all a bit bland, although I did enjoy my tapas and it’s nice to have the option of something lighter. As for my medium spiced curry’s, they lacked zing, and as can happen with flavoured dishes like this I mixed and matched too much, leaving each curry tasting odd and in opposition to the other. I could’ve done with the advice from the waitresses, but none was forthcoming. They were pleasant enough and we were served quickly, but they didn’t really work to generate an atmosphere. I would recommend that people try it once to see for themselves but it didn’t particularly tickle my taste buds. They have a huge menu and I fancied getting our of my curry comfort zone by going elsewhere but as always, the bright lights of Balbirs will continue to seduce me. It is, after all, only ten minutes down the road.

Sadly, despite being a curry loving, happy muncher I have to agree with Lewis on this one. The excitement I first felt when The Curry Leaf was preparing to open quickly disappeared once it actually opened. I did make a massive point of mentioning this on, at least, a weekly basis to the boy and he very kindly gave in one cold, bright winter’s afternoon. Only, however, under the pretence that we would go for the lunchtime special meal deal that was offered. Even, though we only ordered from the meal deal menu — expect for a few beers to wash it down with, obviously — it still came to a hefty price. Something which could have been overlooked if it wasn’t for the fact that the food wasn’t particularly good and the portions weren’t particularly big either. Although, on the plus side I seem to have now convinced him that the best curry in Glasgow comes from one just a hop, skip and jump away from mine in the southside. So, I suppose our first(and last) trip here wasn’t a complete waste.

Have been here twice in the last month. Food delicious. We had the lamb chops as a started the last time. Tapas portions were very generous and reasonably price. Did not taste as if it had just been dipped in the curry sauce as an apology. I would definitely recommend this joint

the curry leaf offers the choice of having your dish as tapas size or full size the food was ok but not spectacular, the veg pakora was the best bit but the portion of sauce was tiny nice try but needs to improve with all the competition in glasgow
