I can’t be bothered with jewellery shops and H Samuel is the epitome of why, it is a boring run of the mill, we have changed nothing in the last 20 years. The jewellery in these stores seems to be quite out of date, and this particular store has nothing special to offer. It is super small, with uninterested staff who can’t actually be bothered with selling properly. I was in this store to buy a gift for my boyfriends mum, Blah! But there was nothing at all I saw that stood out, but this was probably a combination of factors such as there is no interesting things in here, the décor is boring, and you would be much better saving your money for a larger store that had a better selection. To spend quite alot of money on a piece of gold or silver, you want to get one you will want to keep.

I do like H Samuel, don’t get me wrong. In fact, I was highly excited when I realised there was one in Buchanan Galleries, as this was super handy for me to pop into during my lunch break. Sadly, all my lunch break buying sprees did not come to be. Mainly because, this particular branch is not the best representation of H Samuel. It’s relatively small compared to many of the other branches, which in itself could actually be a positive if it was done properly. But, it isn’t. Instead, it doesn’t feel like a proper shop(it has no door just some slanted display cabinets and then the shop) and the range of products is surprisingly limited. While, there are still some jewellery, watches, clocks and small gifts hence a great RANGE of products; there are actually pretty small variations amongst these. This means that after looking through all of their earring selection of however many trays you are still only really left with the big hoops, small hoops, studs or Rennie Macintosh options to choose from. Great. In addition to the above, I’ve found the customer service to be below-average too. For instance, last time I popped in(maybe about six weeks ago) I spent a good ten minutes browsing while listening all about one of the shop assistant’s fish suppers from last night and how much vinegar it contained. You see she was pregnant and had intense cravings for vinegar, which people found hard to believe — most of all the girl in the chip shop. I mean she had to LITERALLY hold the vinegar bottle upside down for three full minutes AND it was all seeping out the bag and leaking on the way home AND stinking. You see what I mean? Not really the relaxing and purchase induced background noise that draws customers in and/or back to shops. Given that when the manager came back from his lunch and quietly said something the gathering of shop assistants dispersed a little and someone asked if I ‘was finding my way round ok?’. After ten minutes, I’d be worried if I wasn’t. Therefore, it’s without a doubt best to try another branch that has a better selection and offers better customer service.
