Although having to wear a very long kilt all the way through school, I do love kilts, because they speak heritage to me and thats the Scottish type! Braveheart was one of my favourite film, its the truth.
I was in here wih my boyfriend who had decided to treat himelf to a kilt, which is always nice, good for you! No reason at all, he must have just always wanted one. Well, we were in here and the sales assistants although quite overly friendly, didn’t put a foot wrong. Instead they were just amazing at pointing out every single little thing that could possibly be on offer. The selection is vast in terms of kilts and kilt bits and bobs, but they were very very patient and seemed genuinely interested in every aspect of it, just about as much as we were! Isn’t that good I thought, till the bill came in. WOW! These things are expensive, just about as much as a suit. Men wear expaensive clothes, was the thing I learnt that day.

For many years now I’ve wanted my own kilt. The renting process was getting old, and fast. And more often than not it required me getting up at stupid o’clock the next morning and returning the clothes when the only place I wanted to be was in bed, watching Jeremy Kyle, and hugging a basin. And over the past few years it was promised to me that on my 21^st Birthday I would be the proud owner of my own kilt package.
We popped in to Hector Russell a few days ago to order my belated birthday present in time for Graduation. They have literally hundreds of different tartans on offer and we were shown all the relevant ones by the very professional sales assistant who checks your name against all the tartans they have, and also any old family names. Because my surname is Barry, apparently we hung about with the Farquharsons a lot back in the day, and now share a tartan with them. Its a beautiful mix of blue and green with a red flash complementing the hues. Sold!
After picking the tartan I then went on to try the jacket and waistcoat — you can get pretty much any jacket set you want and right now the jacket and waistcoat are FREE with any kilt package! A saving of about £200! Fantastic! Then had a look at sporrans, belts, buckles and sgian dubhs! The sales assistant was brilliant and patient as I took near on 10mins to decided about every different part of my outfit! I’ve even been in since to change a few things and they don’t mind at all! In fact they told me you can change anything but the kilt itself up until the collection day!
Great service and a great wee selection of whisky downstairs as well. Highly recommended if you’re thinking about buying a whole set!
