This is, without a doubt, the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of having dealings with. I honestly don’t know where to start. Their customer service is appalling, their ability to complete orders on time is unbelievable and the finished product is so below par I could have printed better at home. I would categorically NEVER recommend this company to anyone. They have wasted my time, money and patience. I would love to see a Glaswegian company open up a competitor so that these thieves stop receiving custom.

Can’t decide whether to give this two or three stars… should only be one or two based on my personal experience, but three is probably a more balanced rating. I’ve used Clydeside some years ago to print some brochures, and when I was trawling the web looking for a printer to do my latest(self-published) book, I chose Clydeside mainly for the convenience of having a local printer that I could talk to in person. The price was a little cheaper than online rivals, but that would be mainly due to the saving on delivery costs so it wasn’t significantly so. Still, being old-fashioned enough and coming from a printing family, I preferred to visit the place personally to discuss my requirements and agree a deadline. None of which were met, I’m sorry to say. The main problem seemed to be lack of communication. They never responded to emails, seldom answered the phone, did not inform me when the proofs were ready for inspection and, most seriously, did not adequately record my requirements after our discussion(although he did write them down at the time), with the result that the production proof copy was wrong in almost every regard — the wrong paper, the wrong laminate on the cover, and they’d given me an ISBN barcode of their own instead of using mine(which was clearly visible on the artwork) — that’s why they missed the deadline. Even after that, I had to make two trips to get the books as they weren’t all ready when I went to collect them. However, providing you are completely clear on your requirements and make sure that you record those in writing in an email or using their website form, I would hope that most of those hassles would be avoided. Once we got past the hurdles, the finished product is great and I am very happy with it. The business is located in the basement of a building on High Street, just up from Glasgow Cross — for a printer’s shop full of inflammable paper I’m not convinced that this is a good idea, especially as there appears to be a slight lack in the fire exit department. Or toilets for that matter. The location also makes it difficult to collect your goods as you have to park on a double-yellow line on the High Street, risking a ticket or towing. Or else you find a parking place around the corner and resign yourself to carrying a heavy load for some distance(I chose the latter option, but it was two trips). They’re great for short-run flyers, brochures and the like, but I think I’ll be looking elsewhere when it comes to my next book.
