Upon finishing uni early one day last week, I put on my sunglasses(mentally) and took about doing the best detective work to be able to review this place. Unfortunately, I am not a very good liar and I am certain that the staff saw right through my ‘emergency pair of glasses required act’. Hence, it is highly possible that I came across very much like a time waster. For this reason, I can only provide a rather superficial review about my impressions of the staff, shop and service — without actually having purchased a pair of glasses here. The shop, is very clean, well lit and looks the ‘traditional coming into modern’ opticians in a trendy area. Inside, the staff were immaculate, well presented and very pleasant. They acknowledged me very quickly and preceded to enquire as to how they could help me. So top marks on the impression front. On the actual range of products and prices, they fell down for me. I found for the prices offered(especially considering the big branches of Vision Express and the like now opened on Byres Road) did not truly reflect the range, or quality, of products. However, I’m willing to chalk this up to a small independent store attempting to hang onto some old world reputation of high end products and customer service. Still, if you’re on a budget and looking for a good deal then go elsewhere. If it’s all about the aesthetic experience, then this is your place.
