Visited the spa for the Thermal Experience as a Christmas treat for the mother. I got a nice wee deal from Itison, which gave us 3 glorious hours luxuriating in their sauna, steam room, jacuzzi & hydro pool. The only, very small, letdown was that the Crystal Steam Room was out of order. My mum also booked is for a massage afterwards, as recommended by the staff. From start to finish the experience was wonderful, the staff friendly and professional, and, with the exception of one very loud patron who’s volume control was our of order, very relaxing. After our massage we were lead to the Drift Away room, complete with tea, loungers and beds! Honestly, if it weren’t for the fact that our tummies were growling we could have stayed there all day! Also or would have been nice to have our complimentary Prosecco there, whilst lounging in our robes, rather than having to get ready and have it in the reception area afterwards.

I must say that this spa is bliss to me. I like that it’s usually quiet and that they provide flip flops. Then the convenience of the towels, the shampoo and shower gel that are all available means less bulk to carry around. I would not say that it’s perfect. I find the steam room isn’t that steamy. Some things can be out of order, you just never know what till you get there! But generally I enjoy it and it’s much better than most spas I have been to. I like the dark mood lighting and the powerful jets in the pool. I can’t wait to go back.

This used to be my all time favourite spa. Ok so I’m not your usual spa type, I’m neither a hen party nor a lady who lunches but after training, tough mudder or a rugby match; the water jets on tired muscles feel amazing. But the last few times I’ve been have been a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Sometimes the underwater jets wouldn’t work, then it would be the massage jets were off or on one occasion the steam-room wasn’t working. There wasn’t a single day I was there in a six week period that there wasn’t at least one major piece of the Thermal experience which wasn’t working. Then there is the small things. The keypad locks on the lockers have never worked right and once I even had to ring reception and ask them to send someone down as it had locked away my clothes and refused to open. Not a very relaxing experience as you stand dripping in your towel. And on my last visit the one and only hair-dryer in the men’s dressing room was broken. Minor issues, but for a place which charges £65 for a single days access to the thermal experience you expect everything to be perfect. Our membership also included access to the gym which I wasn’t impressed by. The free weights available are minimal with the heaviest dumbbell being only 10kg. There are a few cardio machines and a few weight machines such as a chest press, again with very low maximum weight(40kg). It is incredibly small, but as you’re likely to be the only person in there it probably won’t matter. The thermal experience used to be superb, and I really hope it sorts out the issues in the future. But for me it simply isn’t worth the(reduced) membership fee anymore.

This is one of the best spas I’ve ever visited. It’s like a magical purple cavern inside with lovely relaxing music. They call it a «Thermal Experience» which is supposed to last three hours and involves spending time in the sauna(very hot), the larger saunarium(mixture of dry and wet heat, not quite as hot), crystal steam room(smells of lemon and. or menthol, giant jacuzzi, tepidarium(lovely cool room with heated tiled sunbeds, laconium(milder steam room with heated tiled seats and pomegranate infused air), and lastly the hydro pool which has a selection of different jets to sooth and massage your muscles. The staff are always very helpful and attentive on arrival. You get given a locker which is locked with a code. Towel, bottle of water, and flip flops provided. Hairdryers also readily available, and straighteners on request. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gels all in shower rooms. This is a lovely relaxing experience. Admittedly, a very expensive one, but we were lucky enough to nab 6 week summer memberships last year and this year which provides access at a much reduced rate. On this occasion, it was a wedding gift treat :) The spa really is wonderful … my only criticisms being that the jets in the hydro pool don’t always work, and these last couple of weeks, the steam room hasn’t been working with the steam coming out sporadically. I’ve also been a user of their small gym. They offer a cross-trainer, rowing machine, stepper, and exercise bike. There are also free weights ranging from 1kg — 10kg with one adjustable bench. There really isn’t much space, especially for more than two people but every time i have visited, it’s been just me. I never took advantage of the beauty or therapy treatments so can’t comment on that, but I’m sure they are amazing — again just very pricey. Massages seem to start at £80. All in all — would definitely recommend!
