With living out of town, sometimes life gets in the way and we need somewhere local to go and get lunch with the ladies. My friend M said that she had been twice and mentioned it was good. So putting my trust into her hands wasn’t anything major as M is a top Bird. L is also another top bird. As L & M are more fussy about food than me being fussy about where, then I usually back down and try and keep things simple and everyone happy ;) Anyways food was alright. It was tasty. I had a chicken club that came with fries. L had macaroni cheese and the portion was big. M had a veggie burger. All food was enjoyed and no crumb left. They serve massive pieces of cake, so you may want to share. I went for the ice cream which was nice as I really couldn’t stomach cake after the club sandwich. M had the chocolate fudge cake — which was huge and L had the banana sundae, which was ok but the syrup was way too sweet and weird. Points go off as the tea that came for L was served in a not so clean teapot. It had been tanin stained and not really giving a good clean between washes. This was rectified after notifying the server. Will I be back, sure. But I’m not sure how often. It’s ok but nothing special.

I met up with a friend of mine for a bit of lunch at this new«restaurant» not long after opened. Spoiler alert… I won’t be back. I’m not expecting awesome food at these chain pubs but I’ve had some pretty decent meals at other major players in this sector. We were met at the door and taken to a table which had a table number on it. The place itself is like a shiny new 1970’s décor pub. I went to the bar to order a couple of drinks but as the people in front of me were ordering food I was standing in the queue for quite a while. There were only two people in front of me but what added to my impatience was the site of three staff members standing around. They weren’t being lazy or avoiding doing any work but as we order our food from the bar, all they are doing is bringing the dishes out. Once I got the drinks I returned to the table to check out the menu. I went for sausage and mash in a giant yorkie. This was £8.95 which is ridiculous really. I don’t mind paying that for sausage and mash if I’m getting table service and getting to relax for lunch with a nice drink I’ve not had to queue for. Other major chains have an order at the bar service but they price their food accordingly. Way less expensive than this. So, It was then back to queue at the bar again to order food. Another long queue but eventually the food was ordered. When it came(very promptly) it was awful. Mashed potato tasted nuked, the sausages were tasteless and the giant Yorkshire pudding was so soggy on the bottom it was like eating sliced white bread. As I’ve said earlier, there are other major chains doing table number bar ordering but their prices are cheaper and their food is actually not too bad at all. Think Wetherspoons for example. Better in every way at this type of restaurant experience.
